Cuba is a group of several islands. Long ago, one of the islands was called Treasure Island because it was a home base for many Caribbean pirates. Young listeners will learn about life in modern Cuba—the school system, the delicious food, and the vibrancy of Cuban culture.

I got this book to learn a little about Cuba. It is very near to the spot that Christopher Columbus first landed in the Americas on his journey in 1492. It is a very poor area of the world and has 13 million people. Something of note is that it has many species of animals found only on the island Cuba is on. My cousin Steve Merrill and his wife travel to Cuba for a vacation. They live in Canada. Fidel Castro took over in the 1950's and made it a communist country.

32 pages. Another great book in the Exploring the States series. Format and information is excellent. Great photos, charts and additional information at the end. Great job! Highly recommended Gr. 4 and up.
