Reeling from the discovery that her fiancé loves another woman, Eloise Goldman is determined to lose herself for the night. In a club where no one knows her, she plans to drown her pain with drinks and dance like she has no cares in the world.

Roxie Holland grew up in the UK. As a quiet child from a busy family, she spent a lot of time reading anything she could get her hands on, and then started writing her own stories.
Now, she lives in the Midlands with her husband, two loud children and two even louder dogs.
Roxie likes to create and write about characters who are slightly flawed, perhaps a little broken, and endeavouring to create them all a wonderful 'happily ever after'.
When she isn't writing, she's either plotting stories, imagining new story lines, or reading.
This is a cosy romance with second chances, healing together, a caring and supportive MMC, a touch of spice, and a splash of drama from meddling Exes and miscommunication. What starts as a one night stand to get away from broken relationships and betrayals, turns into an unexpected journey of exploring instant chemistry and destiny. When they realise they will be working together they aim to maintain professionalism at the office and hide their relationship, but spend every moment outside learning about each other and connecting. Although there is insta-lust, the romance is gradual and you really root for them. Theo is such a caring and protective MMC, and I loved Eloise (aka Lulu's) passion, character growth and determination. Roxie's writing always makes me invested in the characters and their journeys, and I love the way the romance feels natural, the drama gives you suspense, and you hope everyone gets their hea. This is a fab romance to get lost in and if you want some characters to love and hate.
🖤"You deserve somebody who knows how wonderful you are. You deserve somebody who would walk to the end of the world for you."
🖤"I knew that day that I'd fallen in love with you, that i'd do anything for you"
This book had me grinning and kicking my feet like a teenager with a crush—pure serotonin in pages. I always look forward to Roxie’s books, and she’s officially one of my favorite indie authors now. I adore her, seriously. This one was such a cozy read, and it pulled me right out of my reading slump.
I absolutely loved Eloise and Theo’s dynamic—it caught me off guard how much I could relate to them. Their chemistry? Off the charts. The plot had me riding a full-blown emotional rollercoaster, and I was so here for it.
If you're into steamy office romances with sharp banter, layered characters, and a swoony, protective hottie like Theo, then this book is a must-read. I can’t recommend it enough.
TL;DR I appreciate and thank the author for giving me an office romance to remember. This is a unique work that lays bare all characters, context, and emotions for us to see, meet, feel, and experience with the full range of feelings I’d expect from a romance novel.
Office romances are always fun to read. When the chemistry is well portrayed, it elevates the story to a different level - preventing it from becoming full of clichés and routine motions.
One Night Only is a well-written office romance that stands out.
The world and context surrounding the characters are explored thoroughly - you're not just observing and feeling the two characters and their interactions - this is a common pitfall in many office romance books. I was able to immerse myself in Theo and Lulu's world, constantly aware of the factors influencing them. Whether it be intrusive exes, parents, or friends. Regarding friends, Roxie has done a great job describing a variety of them.
Together, this creates a sense of realism, and since the story already begins on a different note than office romance, this book stands out.
I can't remember how many times I labeled one of the ex-partners with profane words - the author has crafted this character to be so real and infuriating that it got on my nerves, making me hate them and root for the protagonists.
I love dialogue, especially when it's with someone close—a lover, a friend, or parents. It carries purpose, feeling, and creates an emotional safety net. Every other scene features intense, meaningful dialogue that stirs all the emotions I expect when reading romance. Dialogue involving the antagonists evokes opposite reactions in me, which adds to a well-rounded immersion in the story.
The romance is exceptional. The very first long scene with Theo and Lulu shows him as a confident, no-nonsense guy: someone who doesn't need complicated language or elaborate actions because everything comes so naturally to him. It was an instant turn-on and gave me butterflies. Lulu's journey through the ups and downs to the HEA gave me everything I want from a romance— to feel, experience, cry, laugh, and soothe my chest. She's strong and becomes even stronger as the story goes on. But she also reveals vulnerabilities that make her real and kindness that make her soft. I've yelled too many times: STOP TALKING TO YOUR EX!
The spice opens the door and gets steamy. What I love about the spice is its focus on emotions, describing actions just enough for us to get "the feels' and take our hearts along for the wildest experiences between the sheets. I love this—it's not something many authors do well.
In some books, characters and plot points mentioned earlier are left out without purpose later in the story - this is not the case here. All characters contribute to the narrative, and all settings, including the jobs the MCs hold, add meaning to the story. This is especially commendable because it completes the world the characters are navigating. It demonstrates that the author has poured her heart, soul, and thought into creating this book.
The vibe of this novel is different from the last one I read by the author - and that's great. I don't want to see the same types of underlying storylines, which can sometimes become unintentionally common in contemporary romance. It gives me a lot to look forward to as I await her next book.
This is a delightfully sweet office romance. Betrayed by their exes, Eloise and Theo hook up, intending it to be a one-night stand. Little did they know they'd end up working together. When I think this will simply be a cozy romance, the author introduces a traumatic backstory that leaves me with a mix of emotions. The MMC is a cinnamon roll of a man, so sweet and supportive. Their relationship is a great reminder to never settle for anyone who isn’t worth your time.
Eloise Goldman is home one evening when she received a text from her fiancé in another room. It’s a text meant for someone else and she is left reeling by the discovery that she isn’t the love of his life like she thought. In pain and full of anger she goes to a club where nobody know her and plans to drink and dance like she doesn’t have a care in the world.
Theo O’Connell would rather be anywhere else than at the club on his best friend’s stag do. He’s still coming to terms with stumbling upon his ex-girlfriend cheating on him, shattering his heart and the life they shared.
The two broken hearts meet in the club and find comfort in each other’s arms for what they expected to be for One Night Only. Imagine their surprise when they realise on Monday morning that Theo is the new hire who is assigned to work on her biggest project yet at her father’s company.
Trying to work together while keeping their past encounter a secret, meddling exes and difficult circumstances seem to conspire against them. Will they be able to find love and happiness with each other? Or are they both destined to suffer from heartbreak forever?
I absolutely LOVED this new book by Roxie. Her writing gets better with each book and she really draws you into the story. Her characters are always so real and feel like actual people you could meet on the street rather than just words on a page. When they cry I actually feel moved to tears myself. When they’re happy it just makes me smile. Even the exes have a sense of realism to them rather than just 2 dimensional a**holes. This book is definitely my favourite so far of the Roxie books and I can’t wait to read her next one already!
