It wasn’t a normal case. Sully’s friends tell him not to take it. They hate the client.

Science fiction and classic crime novels have long been favorites of author K.C. Sivils. A fan of past noir masters such as Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler, Sivils also enjoys the current generation of storytellers like Matt Abraham, Renee Pawlish and Alex P. Berg.
The combination of film noir and science fiction in director Ridley Scott’s adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s sci-fi classic Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep into the masterful Harrison Ford vehicle Blade Runner encouraged him to consume as much of both genre’s as possible.
When not working at his real job, Sivils enjoys his family, his dogs, writing and rocking out to classic rock bands like the Rolling Stones, New Wave rockers The Cars, and the Godfathers of Punk, the Ramones.
When a wealthy gangster's son dies, seemingly accidentally, in a nuclear facility's disastrous explosion, his father refuses to accept the official version of events, in K.C. Sivils' An Inspector Thomas Sullivan Thriller: Hardboiled Noir From the Future fantastic series' latest novel, The Price of A Lie. To prove he's right to suspect a cover-up, he hires Sullivan (aka 'Sully') the morose and taciturn cybernetically enhanced detective and his (illegal) clone sidekick and protégée Sarah to investigate and prove to him if his suspicions are correct. Can Sully and Sarah find out the truth before they become targets too? How does Sarah's past help them escape the same fate as Lech? What revenge does Lech's father plan for those guilty?
Another tightly-written, tense futuristic crime-thriller that's unique in the noir crime genre, K.C. Sivils' The Price of a Lie, is worth every penny you'll pay for your copy of this fantastic novel I can heartily recommend it as a new 5-star winner that will deserve pride of place on your sci-fi fantasy bookshelf. Why wait - you know you want it!
Thomas Sullivan has been asked to solve the death of a very wealthy man’s son. The remote location has Father Nathan unnerved. Sarah is the most scared she has ever been. Everything about the case screams ‘don’t take it!’ And for that very reason, Sully does.
Sivils’ latest novel in the Inspector Thomas Sullivan Thriller series, The Price of a Lie is a study of mixed emotions. Father Nathan confronts his past. Sarah’s memories are rekindled. Sully just wants to find the truth.
P-42686 has the reputation of being the best place in the universe to work. So much so that workers rarely leave. The adage ‘what seems too good to be true usually is’ fits P-42686 to a t. Find out what has everyone on edge and see more depth to our favorite characters.
I was transported to a Nazi like spaceport by the spaceliner, Lady Liberty into the best reading of a hardboiled noir by K. C. Sivils. Two detectives, Inspector Sully with a robotic camera eye, his partner, detective Sarah, a clone, were on a case and friend, Father Nathan, a priest was near if needed. Captivating characters, life threatening danger with every twist created a riveting tension filled thriller. Definitely recommend for an entertaining escape and I want to read more by Mr. Sivils.
Great reading. Sully and Sarah take on a job which appears to be risky but then developes into a difficult job as soon as they land on the rock referred to as P-42686. It turns out that the company controls everything on the rock with an iron fist and the workers are treated like slaves. Sully and Sarah find out after they land that not everything is as it appears and they have to fear for their lives. Well worth reading.
This was the best one yet. The suspense kept the story moving with just a few breaks to be believable. Sully and Sarah are an awesome team and have developed their working relationship and tactics. I love the use of planets to resemble different socio-economic conditions and belief systems. The whole storyline is totally believable given the depraved way many humans think. Loved this book.
This is one trip that none of them wanted to take, yet Sarah was determined that she had to. There were multiple twists and turns in this story. It was never revealed to the reader what the next step was until it happened. That certainly kept you on the edge of you seat as you followed Sully, Sarah and Father Nathan. All of them came back changed. In the end, the biggest change is revealed.
Great story for those who love action and the pursuit of justice.
A father not accepting the death results from his son’s death, hires Sully and his sidekick to investigate. Money is no object, or even the father being a gangster. The first thing Sully notices is that this was just the beginning, there was a cover up. Why do workers come and never leave. A good story different and intriguing Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Inspector Sullivan is hired to investigate the accidental (?) death of a rich man's son on a moon far awy from civilization. Despite being warned by Father Nathan he agrees to take the job and discovers more than he wanted. The readers get insights of of the earlier lives of Father Nathan and Sarah. As usual from K.C. Sivils and interesting and entertaining hardboiled noir SF thriller.
The Price of a Lie is part of the "An Inspector Thomas Sullivan Thriller: Hardboiled Noir From The Future" series.
The storyline is well written and engaging, with death, a grieving father, a dangerous moon named P-42686, secrets, drama, suspense, and intrigue. Will this be the one case that Sully will not allow himself to resolve?
I love the development of these characters. I found this plot particularly intriguing since it shed more light into the character of both Father Nathan and Sarah. The concept of a Utopian society is always a controversial one. Is it even truly possible or is evil and corruption hiding in the shadows?
Sully and Sarah are offered a case none of their friends want them to take. A father seeks the truth behind his son’s death. Was it really just an industrial accident as the corporation which employed him claims or something more nefarious? Head off world with Sully to find out.
Father Nathan, who often accompanies Sarah and Sully on their cases, refuses to even set foot where they are headed this time. When he can’t dissuade them from the case, he finally agrees to go as far as the space station above the moon. Will he reveal his past to his friends?
Nothing in this place is as it seems. Billed as a worker’s Utopia, from the start it appears to be more of a prison to Sully upon arrival. Will they find the truth? Can they escape back to the relative safety of Beta Prime?
This one had me worries for a while. A lot of back story development, but it all came together in the end. A masterfully told storey. Plenty of action and suspense.
