Naked Love Berlin

New York, Paris, San Francisco – back in their heydays, these cities were outrageously fun for gays and artists. Berlin was the forgotten ghetto, but post-war and post-wall, Berlin has become Europe's queerest city. In Naked Love Berlin, experience the city through the lives of four gay and bisexual men as they learn that the party's only fun when earned.

Kay is a Canadian with a corporate job. He struggles for a fabulous European life, but fabulous and monogamous are uneasy bedfellows. Alex is an American with a trust fund. No responsibility means freedom to hop from one fantasy to the next until family obligation ensnares – or saves. Thomas is a German student from a small town whose confidence swells while studying in the sinful capital. But can he keep this from slipping into arrogance, or even violence? Timothy is a British entrepreneur and drawn to Berlin not for its tax breaks, but for the city's men. How could anything bad ever happen to a man who thinks with his penis – or for this power bottom, prostate? For these men, will their lust for life lead to love?

If you enjoyed such outings as Tales of the City, Queer as Folk, and Cabaret but want a modern edge, you’ll love Naked Love Berlin. If you’ve ever wondered what queer life in Europe could be like, Naked Love Berlin is for you, especially with a glass of bubbly. Prost!

A bit too naked but each page still brings you to the streets of Berlin. Thanks to author's Canadian perspective, it also helped to point out what it means to be an European. Just one example from the book:

"A drag queen singing about rising like a glorious phoenix from the ashes of abuse - it's a message we can relate to. A man with the freedom to be in a dress stands for values that Europe holds dear."

And also what makes Berlin so loveable.

"Berlin did terrible things, had terrible things happen to it, and through the rubble, Berlin crawled free. But I wonder, would we love Berlin so much if it hadn't been bombed to smithereens and endured this tortured past?"

Just finished “Naked Love Berlin” by Jin DeLuong and OMG, what a wild ride! Dive into Berlin’s queer scene through the lives of Kay, Alex, Thomas, and Timothy. From corporate struggles to trust-fund fantasies, this book has it all.

Berlin steals the spotlight as Europe’s ultimate queer city. Kay’s juggling act between his job and a fabulous life had me hooked. Alex’s freedom and family drama? So relatable. Thomas, the small-town student finding his confidence, and Timothy, the British entrepreneur navigating his desires—each story is a rollercoaster of emotions and self-discovery.

What I loved most is that Naked Love Berlin isn’t just about partying – it’s about earning that fun and growing through it. The mix of humor, sensuality, and heartfelt moments will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. It's like Tales of the City meets Cabaret but with a fresh, modern twist.

The book is a beautiful celebration of queer culture, showcasing the joys and struggles in a way that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking. It’s perfect for anyone curious about queer life in modern Europe.

This was such a surprised read! The story and characters are totally real, raw and relatable. These characters are completely unapologetic in their actions. The jewel of this was the city of Berlin itself. With its dark and unforgettable history comes a rebirth, if you will, that traces back to those dark times, to where modern day Berlin continues to exist. Modern day queer culture is indebted to Berlin’s past. 4/5
