Totally biased review because I’ve known the author for 29 years & love her dearly. Putting my own biased aside this is book aimed at people who work in corporate settings but because Amy’s writing style is relaxed & conversational it doesn’t feel like it goes over your head or you’re stuck in some boring training session. The first half is written about things we could all use in our daily lives. The second part is clearly about work life. All of us could be a little more emotionally intelligent & if that’s something you want to work on I recommend getting Amy’s book.

I was lucky enough to be given this book as a ‘pay it forward’ but was enjoying it so much I downloaded it on my kindle so I could highlight specific sections for future reference. This not only provides a fantastic explanation of EI, it offers incredibly practical and achievable guidelines which I am going to follow with my team at work and personally. It has helped explain to me why ‘coaching’ works as you are helping people go to their subconscious mind for answers rather than the first thing that comes in their head.
I would highly recommend this for anyone interested in this area and actually for anyone who manages people. You will undoubtedly learn more about people and at least one practical tool to use going forward. Fantastic stuff

Many solid tips and takeaways on how to raise your emotional intelligence (especially good for those who may not be as naturally empathetic or who don’t consciously think about keying in on people’s emotions and outlooks, particularly at work). I listened to the audiobook, but I would’ve preferred the physical book to have on hand as a go-to guide.

Useful basic overview of how to function better in professional and personal relationships, not groundbreaking but a sprawling synthesis of current management and self-help techniques (be aware of your own strengths and learning styles to influence and delegate to others, know your why and how).

Excellent explanation about EI and how to make use of it to improve your life and your relationships at work and with your social circles.
It was a quick reading that helped me facing professional situations in a more conscious way.
