Harker has everything he wants, except a child.

He’s finally chosen the mother.

Alison is brilliant, kind and hard-working. Her genes will mesh perfectly with his. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s spent the last year fantasizing about taking her to his bed and doing all kinds of deliciously wicked things to her.

Alison can’t believe that her boss wants her to have his kid and that he wants to do it the old-fashioned way. She can’t imagine having sex with him. He’s Harker. Sure he’s kind of sexy in a dark, brooding way and when he barks orders her body naturally responds, but still…sex with Harker?

She can’t do that, or can she? His offer is hard to refuse and she’d only have to be with him until she got pregnant. It shouldn’t take long, right?

This is book one of four. Harker and Alison's HEA is in book four.

Confession and Friendly Faces

I have a confession to make. There were several times that I wanted to walk away from this book. Not because of poor writing or anything like that. But Ellis O Day possibly did too good of a job writing a man that was devoid of typical reactions and the inability of sharing his thoughts without condescension. Harker's near clinical, emotionless responses to various situations made me want to scream at him while my heart broke for Alison.

Of course, walking away was never really on the table because I've read several of her books and I know the wait is worth it. In this, there was absolutely no disappointment because, while there are some hilarious and cringey moments, the combustion that finally comes is terrific! There is also some terrific banter, even when Harker is being a... barker.

I will be diving into the second book to see how Harker digs himself out of that last blunder. *rubbing hands together rapidly* I can't wait!

Oh, for those that have read other stories under the La Petite Mort Club umbrella, you will see plenty of familiar faces pop up. If this is your first book under LPMC, don't worry. You're in good hands and have nothing to worry about. The Billionaire's Baby series can be read independent of the other books / series under LPMC but the books within this particular series should be read in order.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! I am grateful I got this free!!

Alison works for Harker he makes a deal with her to have his baby!! The banter between the two of them is juvenile at best silly at worse.

They don't even have sex until the end of the story and there is not mention of the baby. The story just ends abruptly!! No real ending!!

DNF! Could not finish this!

Well this is disappointing. I’ve read two series by this author and while I’m not a fan of breaking books up to get more money (especially when there is NO reason), I’ve overlooked that because the characters are likable for the most part. Harker and Alison are not. Neither is her aunt Tiff (who just comes across as a gold digger even though she did nurse her one husband while he had dementia- yes I said one, she was married four times to increasingly richer men)

While a lot of people have problems with Harker- and believe me I do as well and will get to them- Alison was annoying from the jump. There were moments when she was clearly the most likable but then she would start talking and all that good will goes out the door. The beginning part with them talking about the sandwich went on WAY too long and reminded me of teens in the lunchroom not a 30 year old accomplished woman and a 40 year old CEO. It was ridiculous.

Now Harker- Lord this character was HORRIBLE. I know this writer can write cocky, know it all, alphaholes but this is not the one. Nothing about him is endearing. None of this thoughts made me go- oh wait there is something underneath the jerkiness of his attitude. Even the little drops of his childhood didn’t help him appear worthwhile. Because of that, it makes the idea he wants a child look like it’s like a car or a watch to him. The baby is a thing to have. Why would I want to continue reading that?

I didn’t get past the negotiations (where she turned him down twice - good girl, she should have continued down that path) but can’t go any further. I hope others liked this story, but I have to say it’s a no from me.

Not really a story..more like half a story.

This was fine as far as it went but I am becoming heartily sick of authors selling half finished books as complete. When a book has a sequel, it is usually after the first story has been completed, NOT just sopped in the middle. This feels to me like I have been scammed.

If a MMC talked about a FMC the way this FMC talked about the MMC, the reviews would rip him to shreds. After the FMC acted like having sex with the MMC was gross, unfathomable and basically akin to having sex with a trashpile, I was done with this romance. I'm fine with stories where attraction grows over time. I'm fine with stories where the main characters find each other unattractive and then change their minds. I'm fine with stories where the main characters say they just never saw the other character "in that light" or they are "plain" or "not my type."

"They are gross", acting like the thought of sex with them makes them want to vomit and breaking your new husband's nose to avoid kissing him is too far for me. The MMC in this story was completely unreasonable, but the FMC was immature with her verbal diarrhea and very insulting to the MMC. She even laughed in his face at the idea of oral sex with him, mocking him.

I want to be clear: there's nothing wrong with not being attracted to someone. You don't owe anyone sex or attraction. The issue is that this book is a romance and the FMC talked about the MMC being gross and acted like having sex with him was worse than anything else she could imagine. I can't root for a couple to get together with this being the case. Everyone deserves a partner who never thought it would be "gross" to have sex with them. Or that has laughed in their face and mocked them at the idea of oral sex with them. I typically like romances where one of the main characters doesn't view the other main character as a potential romantic/sexual partner at all in the beginning, but there's a difference between ambivalence, platonic and repulsion. I can deal with characters being unsure about their attraction. I can deal with characters being sure they AREN'T attracted. I can't deal with characters being actively repulsed by the idea of being physical with the other main character.

This book ends on a cliffhanger, in the middle of a scene. It seems there are four books in this series.

This new series by Ellis is such fun! I almost read non-stop through the entire series. Picture it. Wooden spoon in one hand, stirring pasta sauce; Kindle in other hand. Toothbrush in one hand; Kindle in other. You get the idea. I didn’t try to do that while I was driving, though.

Allison is a sweet, big-hearted person, and has spent many hours of work overtime developing a computer app for Harker’s business. As the boss, Harker is uber-focused on personal success in all things, and more than a little arrogant. He offers her a deal to have his baby. She signs on the dotted line. Overall, they’re kind of opposites. But in one way, they’re perfectly alike: neither will give in to the other if they think it means losing. But that is what makes this story so great. These two can’t resist battling each other for supremacy. It makes them such fun to read. And they also can’t resist each other in bed. So. dam. hawtt.

The author composed plenty of humorous situations for the pair, too. I love humor in a romance story, and Ellis is so talented at that. My favorite was a very preggo Allison “power-waddling” through a grocery store, piling their cart up with jalapeno cheese, Pop-Tarts, and eating cold sauerkraut straight from the jar. So, if you love humor and angst; and going from endless arguments to never-ending ardor, you will love this series, The Billionaire’s Baby. 5 Stars.

When you have waited for ages for a new book from a favourite author there is an anxiety; will it be worth the wait? will it be as good as you hoped? are they still a favourite?
The answer is Yes, yes, oh, yes!
The Baby Bargain is the first of four stories about Harker ('Don't call me Gus!') and Alison - whose mouth has no brake - and they form part of the La Petite Mort Club canon (and so some familiar faces pop up for existing fans). As is the case with Ellis O Day we have wonderful characters and humorous situations and terrific sexual tension - and later some hot easing of that tension.
Harker isn't getting any younger and he wants to leave his vast wealth to his progeny, but since he has none he wants Alison, but he thinks he only wants her to be the mother of his child. Alison has purposefully ignored that Harker is an attractive man because he's her boss, and she wants to get on by merit alone. The development of this relationship is agony, joy, and hilarity wrapped up in brilliant compelling writing. I cannot wait for the rest of these stories!

Different from the other Petite Le Mort Club titles I've read and really well done - Ellis O. Day has quickly become my new favorite author. For quite a while, the book reads more like a romance than an erotic romance because there's so much resistance, stubbornness and misunderstanding between this working couple, it takes them that long just to find each other's lips. The build-up is great and the banter's so funny - like heroine Alison, I found myself laughing constantly when I imagined hero "Gus Barker" Harker was standing there with his jaw clenched, definitely not laughing. These 2 have been working together for years. Harker is the boss. He's been lusting after Alison for at least a year that we know about, and she has a room in his house. She doesn't seem to share his feelings but we learn, after a long-winded ride, that she's as attracted to him as he is to her, just doesn't think he'd seriously want her. I think that's the one thing that bugs me about these stories - the women tend not to think much of their looks and be insecure on that level. But they are real and relatable, and the men always lust for them hard, so you overlook it cause the writing is otherwise really good. The premise of this story is Harker, who's rich and built a successful business, has decided he needs someone to leave it to, so he wants a baby and he's decided he wants Alison to be the mother. He's willing to offer her part ownership of the company if she agrees and yes, he wants to do it the old-fashioned way. Alison, who resists hard to all of the above comes around after a lot of persistence and agrees to the deal, assuming they get married, to make her mother happy, then have a quick divorce after the baby is born. Mind you, even with a contract in place, you would think as his wife she could take Harker to court and win way more than the proposed 5% he's offering. I guess Harker really does love and trust her, stubborn as he acts almost all the time. Anyway, we swallow it cause if we didn't, we'd have no story. After a very tense wedding and a painful first-kiss-that-wasn't, a visit to Le Petite Mort Club wakes this bantering couple up and reminds the rest of us we are indeed reading an erotic romance novel, and it gets really good from there. It ends on a to be continued, as all of these stories do, but I got enough to satisfy me...for now. I love how author Ellis O. Day has come up with so many different scenarios and couples for this one universe and how it all flows together. Really well done - I'm looking forward to reading more of these stories.

The premise is okay, but the characters are mostly unlikeable and the plot doesn't make sense at times. Alison is annoying and immature, and Harker is just a straight-up jerk.

Alison demands they get married before she agrees to have Harker's child, but then gets so nervous she can't sleep with him on her wedding night. However, when Harker takes her to a sex club, she's so excited and even considers getting a part-time job there as a "Pleasure Associate" (aka someone who has sex with the members). But then freaks out because she was "raised to believe that sex was a private affair between two married people." Which is it, woman?!

And Harker has apparently been dreaming about having sex with Alison for years, but tries to convince himself that he only wants her as a vessel for his child. Sure, Jan.

Not much more to say. When the story is just plan stupid and so far fetched, then skimming to see of it gets better (it doesn’t) is one answer. Another would to stop reading. That’s what I should have done.

Offensive and ends in cliffhanger!

This is spread out across 4 books and is not worth the money. It is poorly written, has typos, and lacks emotion.

The characters are entirely insensitive to each other’s feelings. At least the heroine is well-meaning, but the love interest is a jerk who holds his power over her and insults her to make his ego feel better. Instead of telling her he likes her, he essentially forces her into marriage to get what she’s worked hard for so he can have sex with her.

He makes her feel like she’s unattractive and feeds her insecurities when she accidentally bruises his ego by not falling all over herself at the chance to sleep with him and have his baby. Even in his head, he constantly thinks he’s only attracted to her personality because he has had better physically. He even cheats on her on their wedding night with an ex who he thinks is prettier after he made them sign a contract demanding monogamy; if he hadn’t interrupted, it would have been entirely unforgivable.

How is anyone supposed to feel sexy or wanted when their partner doesn’t even think they’re pretty? This is completely offensive.

Harker has decided that he wants Alison to have his baby, and approaches her with a contract. Alison can’t imagine having sex with Harker as he is her boss, but his incentive is too good to pass up. After some hilarious negotiations they come to an agreement, and the result is nothing short of disastrously funny.

I really enjoyed this first book. Alison is blunt, and says it as she thinks it which leads to some fairly funny conversations. Harker is a true alpha, unapologetic but yet something in him softens a bit with he is with Alison. Their chemistry together is sizzling hot enough to melt the words off your e-reader, and they are pretty cute together. I cannot wait until book 2 as I need to read what happens next!

I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a fair and honest review.

Pretty unbelievable and somewhat shallow, but the sex scenes were hot. I prefer a good story and passionate characters that are in deep love. Otherwise it’s just sex.

When you want a baby but not a wife....get yourself a good contract and a memorable wedding night

The Baby Bargain is the first book in The Billionaire's Baby series and is the story of Alison and Harker. This story also weaves in La Petite Mort Club into the story and previous characters cross over. But you can read this book, and I am thinking the series, as a stand-alone so you don't need to have read the other books/series about this club.
Harker owns a computer software company with Merri and Tobias. He is rich, entitled, a jerk if you want my opinion, and a Dom who likes to play at La Petite Mort Club. Alison works for Harker as a computer programmer writing code and working on his latest program. She is his most valued employee if truth be told and he knows it, but he does not let her know it. Harker is used to people doing whatever he says and agreeing with him, after all that is what his money and status buy. But Alison is not like that at all and she does not take his grumpiness too seriously, after all he is always screaming for her about something.
Harker has everything he wants but lately he feels there is something missing, a child of his own. So after thinking about it and realizing there are no suitable women to marry he decides he wants Alison to be the mother. She is smart, pretty, can carry a conversation, is spunky and has good genes. When he finally tells her what he wants she laughs at him, as she cannot believe he is serious. When Harker makes Alison realize that he is serious she has some thinking to do, as he is offering a lot of money. Alison is still not having it but Harker is like a dog with a bone he is not about to give up and uses some underhanded tactics which include her bodacious aunt. So Alison has some terms of her own as she cannot bring shame to her mother or family. If Harker wants her to have his baby then they will need to be married, which she thinks will he will never agree to. Some things are just meant to be and that includes Alison and Harker....so get the white dress and veil ready because the is about to be a wedding. Wait until the wedding night though.............now that is a story all on it's own.

I quickly read this book once I loaded it up, as it is easy reading. I am of two minds about this story at the moment. I really enjoyed the laughs, frustrations, witty banter, Alison's spirit and some of the sexy fun at the club. But I have to say that Harker was wearing on my last nerve a couple of times, and I wanted to kick some a$$ because of it. I will have to read the next book to decide whether he is able to redeem himself at this point or not. Be warned that this series is 4 books and each ends in a cliffhanger leading to the next.

What do you do when your boss asks you to have his baby? And it’s a business deal. He is offering her five present ownership of the business. She agrees but says they have to get married because her mother would never accept a child out of wedlock. She suggests in vitro, he says no--he wants to do it the old-fashioned way--sex--because he has lusted after her body for a year while she has just thought of him as her boss. The marriage takes place and that’s when the fun begins because how will he ever father a child if they can’t even make it to the marriage bed.

We met Harker in The Hot Holidays series and I knew I would love him. He is a 40-year-old quirky, almost robotic, arrogant, and bossy man who does nothing but work, but he wants Alison and he wants to introduce her to the bizarre and kinky world of sex that he prefers. Alison, a funny and overly-talkative but unattractive girl because she is not perfect--her hips are too wide, her breasts are too small, her mouth is too wide--is what Harker wants and he is going to do everything in his power to win her over.

Ellis O. Day’s stories deal mostly in the world of sex clubs with light BDSM. But what draws me to them is that they are funny. She uses her words as the tints and tones of colour and paints a canvas of real life characters that become embroiled in situations that are vivid and graphic. Her language is light yet teasing, her banter playful yet intense, and her scenes are laugh-out-loud funny. She is the Billy Connolly of writing where the characters start a dialogue on one topic leading to something completely different but ending up at their original thought. That is an art. How Harker convinces Alison to become his lover (if she stops talking long enough) is sexy, delicious, and oh so hot, that you might need to douse yourself with your mint julep.

I have been fascinated with this author ever since I read my first book by her, “Interviewing His Love”. She is a very eloquent and polished writer whose stories are addictive and heart-warming. I like how we are able to re-meet her other non-forgettable book characters as they step into the pages of alternating books. “The Baby Bargain” is happy and gratifying, a story that tugs at your heartstrings and leaves you singing a song of ravishing enchantment.

"The Baby Bargain kicks off The Billionaire's Baby series with the tale of Alison and Harker, intertwining the narrative with the intriguing La Petite Mort Club. While previous characters make appearances, the book stands alone without requiring prior knowledge of the club's universe.

Harker, a wealthy and domineering software company owner, approaches Alison, his talented employee, with an unconventional proposal: he wants her to bear his child. Alison, independent and unimpressed by Harker's entitled demeanor, initially laughs off the idea. However, when she realizes his sincerity and is tempted by the financial offer, she sets forth her own conditions, including marriage.

What ensues is a rollercoaster of negotiations, frustrations, and unexpected twists, all laced with witty banter and steamy encounters. While the dynamic between Alison and Harker is engaging, Harker's behavior occasionally tests the reader's patience, begging the question of whether he can redeem himself in subsequent installments.

The story offers a mix of humor, romance, and spicy moments, making for a compelling read. However, be prepared for cliffhangers at the end of each book, propelling readers into the next chapter of Alison and Harker's journey."

I have read some of Ellis O. Day's erotica books and I usually have an opinion one way or the other about the ending, but this one has left me perplexed. I really started reading because it was a recommendation on Book Reads from one of my other authors. I don't mind that Harker is portrayed as a rich entitled billionaire, but it really wasn't exactly true. Harker had a mother who was into drugs more than raising him and he pulled his self up despite of his beginnings. He built a tech company worth billions along with his friends Merri and Tobias. Merri hired Alison because she was a wiz in coding and could figure out the program that they are working on whereas everyone else has had problems with it. So we find out that Harker is 40 gorgeous and well built but carries himself arrogantly at least as far as Allison is concerned, and he wants a baby to leave his wealth to and so he propositions Alison because she is young and frankly needs what he is offering. It is a little funny at times there is drama oh so much drama but it does have a good plot. I am going to read part two to see how this story ends, right now I wouldn't bet on anything Ellis O. Day would do.

[this is book 1 of a series]

One offer. One condition. One unforgettable temptation.

I don’t know what it is about the La Petite Mort series, but for some reason I am H.O.O.K.E.D.! 🫠
It all started with Six Nights of Sin: 6 Book Series, which immediately threw me into Six Weeks of Seduction: La Petite Mort Club, Book 3.
And now I just binge-listened to The Billionaire's Baby: The Complete Series (Books 1-4): La Petite Mort Club, Book 7!
I finished the full +19hrs between Saturday and Monday!? 🙃

And I don’t even like dual narration or 3rd person.
So what’s up with that!? 🤷🏼‍♀️

So all I can say is:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the story by Ellis O. Day
👏👏👏👏👏 performances by Summer Morton and Robert Hatchet🎙️

My favorite quote:
"Yes." He pushed down his annoyance, reminding himself that trust took time. He'd been in a relationship with her for almost a year, but she only joined two days ago.

What it is about:
A billionaire boss propositions his brilliant employee to have his child through unconventional means, leading to a steamy romance.

My thoughts:
💋irresistible and seductive
💊unexpectedly addictive
🫂relatable characters
🎙️excellent dual narration
💯recommend
🤣I initially thought his last name was Barker, but that got clarified with the launch of Harker's Barker Meter

What you need to know:
📚interconnected series
👥dual POV, 3rd person
⌛️short chapters
🫠he falls first, he falls harder
⛓️sex club La Petite Mort Club
❤️HEA (in book 4)

I just wanted something different but I am pleasantly surprised by this book.

Alison is annoying. To me at least. But I appreciate her honesty and her limits. I can see her adjusting to the series of events and transitions from employee to whatever she is to Harker.

Harker started as the type A personality I usually love but then he got a little soft. I don't know. I love his character though. I just wish this story didn't have dom/sub undertones. I avoid those books for a reason but I must say the sex is good.

By this point, I thought Alison would be pregnant and into the second trimester. However, we have only been working out the kinks of all this.

I will continue with this series because I want to see what they become to each other. I know Harker's feelings. I am still uncertain about Alison's feelings and I want to see them as parents.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Baby Bargain by Ellis O. Day is the start of a new series with familiar people. Harker and Alison are from the La Petite Mort Club series. Harker is Allison's boss and he wants wants her to have his baby. Odd premise to start for sure.

The story is steamy; this couple has incredible chemistry. Both could be considered a little odd according to normal society. I really enjoyed that the couple didn't take themselves too seriously. I found myself smiling more than once. The humor is throughout the story.

While the world in these books may not appeal to everyone, Ellis O'Day does a great job creating a world where the reader can immerse themselves in. The characters are well fleshed out. Overall enjoyable read but beware it ends on a cliffhanger.

Ellis O. Day is one of my favorite authors. This book, like all of her other stories was funny at times, and definitely steamy at others. I'm not sure I would have been able to put up with Harker's quirks. I mean sometimes he shows no emotions at all, I mean he can be a serious robot. He wants to have an heir and asks his worker to fulfill that fantasy for him but because of her mother's thoughts on marriage, Alison requires them to get married first. I loved this story line and after the way Harker acted some times, I am definitely eager to read the next book in this series. I also appreciated how the author incorporated some of the previous stories we have read about in the La Petite Mort Club books that Ellis O. Day has written previously. I definitely recommend this book to readers who enjoy steamy, kinky reads.

This story was not good to begin with, but I kept pushing myself to finish it, just to find out that it ends on a cliffy.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. Only this isn't just one cliffy. I just found out this is book 1 of a 4 book series. Yeah, I know, I should have done my research after DL'ing this freebie. That's on me, but this breaking up a book into 4 parts is so annoying. I think I'm done here.

I am a new reader for this author. I didn’t enjoy this book at all. Allison was becoming annoying increasingly as the story unfolded. Harper may be a Dom, but his actions were anything but..he never acknowledges his attraction to her being more than just so she can have his baby. Allison never seemed to be attracted to him. Yet the enter into this baby making arrangement and each moment of a dialogue from the wedding to the club was excruciating. The back and forth, the hurt feelings. The story just didn’t get better, but the opposite.
Imagine my surprise to see that it doesn’t end with this book. It ended in a cliffhanger🙄. I’m not even interested in seeing how it ends.

Just because I didn’t care for the story doesn’t mean someone else won’t. I’ll even try another book from the author
