James is days away from being married when he learns his fiancé Raquel has been keeping an explosive secret. Humiliated and with his reputation on the line, he sets out to destroy Raquel. The bride-to-be strikes back with a blow so intense it leaves James defenseless, with his life spiraling out of control.
Within days, he is a shell of the confident, charismatic man he once was. James is contemplating suicide when he is almost killed in an accident. Now he is sure of only two He is too scared to die, and not fit to live.
When Joan, an ex-girlfriend, introduces James to her pastor, he can’t help but be intrigued. James is introduced to a world he did not know single men who love God intensely. These men abstain from sex until married and read the scriptures like most men read the sports pages. Women are treated like precious jewels and held with the highest regard. Instead of strolling the clubs looking for girlfriends, they are kneeling at pews, praying for wives.
James isn’t sure he’s buying any of it, but when the pastor offers to mentor him, he accepts the challenge. Living for the Lord when he’s been accustomed to the world brings a multitude of unexpected consequences. Can a ladies’ man really become God’s man?
James has lost his place of employment and has no idea what he is going to do. He is soon to be married to his fiancée Raquel and he wants everything to be perfect. As James begins to reflect over his relationship and life with Raquel, he knows that he has not been an easy man to deal with, but now he is ready to give Raquel everything that she has ever desired. How will he make this happen now that he is unemployed? And how will he tell Raquel?
Raquel has had a difficult life but now that she has the man of her dreams and her wedding is a few weeks away, she wants everything to run smoothly. Her dress is designed and ready, the invitations are sent, the hall is in a fabulous location, and flowers are being flown in for her special day. What could possibly go wrong? Well…. Raquel has a secret that she has been keeping from James for quite some time. Will this secret come to light before her and James’ special day?
This is my first read by Mimi Jefferson and I must say I am really impressed. “The Bride Experiment” has many twists and turns. It is extremely difficult to put the book down. I read it in a day and really enjoyed every page. It shows consequences for choices that we make in our lives when in a relationship and dealing with day to day issues. Mimi Jefferson does a fabulous job pulling scriptures from the bible and teaching us the meaning of love, trust, honesty, compassion, and loyalty. Lust is not an option in this wonderfully written novel. I look forward to reading other novels by this author.
Wow! This book sure wasn't what I was expecting but it was well worth the read. This book is for everyone who thinks they have it all without Jesus Christ and then discover they have nothing without Jesus Christ.
The people in this book are all linked together in one way or another but all learn they are a fractured part of the whole, which they discover, is the body of Christ.
This book takes the reader on a journey that starts on a man made high, hits a deep low and ends with a natural high that can't be duplicated.
I loved this book and highly recommend it to everyone who has said to themselves "they can do it alone." This book will prove to you that you can't.
I got about half way through and just couldn't continue. I know this is fiction but in books like this I always feel it should be based around things that could likely happen. The more the story went on the more far-fetched it became. I didn't find the characters likable or believable and the "twist and turns" became aggravating. It's rare that I won't finish a book but I just couldn't take it anymore.
The Bride Experiment by Mimi Jefferson………This is my first read by Mimi Jefferson and it was an awesome read. The book is full of twists and turns. We need to realize that there are consequences in things that we do in life. When we are going through things the best place to turn to is the Bible…..which offers teachings on love, trust, honesty, and compassion. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning…
This is a sequel to the Single Sister Experiment. The books should be read in order. This book is very melodramatic and over the top. But, I was hooked. I really liked the main character Joan and she reminded me of some women I have known over the years. If you like entertaining, over the top reads with a strong Christian message, I strongly recommend.
Just finished reading this book and it was VERY good. I didn't realize that it was Christian Fiction when I started reading it. However I was pleasantly surprised. I Loved It. It delivers a Very Deep Message to single woman who put a "man" before God! This is a must read!!!!
I liked this story. This book had a lot of teaching moments in it. Sometime we don't realize how our decisions affect other people so we just do what we want without thinking or caring what the consequences will be. In this case James had a lot of lessons and consequences.
Really good read! A lot of food for thought regarding revenge and forgiveness. Would love to know more about Joan and James story but all n all would recommend.
