New discoveries in biology and the neurosciences are revealing how the structure of language-the words we think and speak-can actually change the way the neurons in our brains and hearts connect. But our ancestors understood this connection intuitively, thousands of years ago. They created specific word-patterns to provide comfort, healing, strength, and inner power in difficult times, and they encoded these powerful words in prayers, chants, mantras, hymns, and sacred writings to preserve them for future generations. Now beloved teacher and thought leader Gregg Braden cracks the code and puts these powerful words in your hands. Perfect as a pocket guide, a reference for spiritual study, or a gift to someone you love, this elegant, compact book contains Wisdom Codes that cut to the core of life's greatest tests, most challenging demands, and hardest lessons. You'll find chapters devoted to healing from loss and grief, facing your unspoken fears, finding certainty in the face of uncertain choices, and finding forgiveness, as well as ancient parables that offer a "fast track" to unraveling life's deepest mysteries. Each Wisdom Code-distilled from a quote, a scripture passage, or a parable-is accompanied by a brief discussion of what the code means, why it's important, and how to apply it in your life.
New York Times best selling author Gregg Braden is internationally renowned as a pioneer in bridging science and spirituality. Following a successful career as a Computer Geologist for Phillips Petroleum during the 1970s energy crisis, he became a Senior Computer Systems Designer for Martin Marietta Defense Systems during the last year of the Cold War. In 1991 he was appointed the first Technical Operations Manager for Cisco Systems where he led the development of the global support team that assures the reliability of today’s Internet. For more than 22 years, Gregg has searched high mountain villages, remote monasteries, and forgotten texts to uncover their timeless secrets. To date, his work has led to such paradigm-shattering books as The Isaiah Effect, The God Code, The Divine Matrix and his 2008 release, The Spontaneous Healing of Belief: Shattering the Paradigm of False Limits. Gregg’s work is now published in 17 languages and 27 countries and shows us beyond any reasonable doubt that the key to our future lies in the wisdom of our past.
I loved this book. I truly admire Gregg Braden. He is a well studied, well read, traveled and spiritual gentleman. I love listening to his views and series on the Gaia TV series entitled “Missing links”. The Wisdom Codes book is a compilation of spiritual practices and teachings brought to us by Gregg to utilize in order to improve our lives and guide ourselves towards the divine. Thank you Gregg.
Very insightful and helpful for better understanding of concepts and phrases often quoted from the Bible. I found the actual codes to be keepers for future use in my meditation practice.
Incredible and thoughtful. I enjoyed reading history behind the beautiful words or love or wisdom and prayers and praises. My teenagers were also intrigued. We read parts to each other and enjoyed our time and conversations. Grateful this book was shared with me.
Gregg Braden on mees, keda Euroopas peab tutvustama. See raamat sobis, sest lubati “sõnadega eri probleeme lahendada, lein kaasa arvatud”. Mul on endiselt keeruline paar kuud tagasi lahkunud sõbranna surmast üle saada, seega lootsin sellest raamatust leida abi. Religioon on loodud niigi vaid inimeste kontrolliks ja hirmu all hoidmiseks.
This book begins fairly aligned with my expectations: An example about how different languages are structured differently and that this affects how people think. That despite these differences, we see both the existence of "mantras" or "spoken words" that are meant to alter how we feel or perceive the world, followed by the assertion that, regardless of culture, such matras seem to have consistent themes: the achievement of serenity through the appreciation of beauty, or dispelling the fear of one's own death.
fascinating!
However, the two facets of this book that just did not hit for me were:
1) Practical guidance. I want to read about the implications of these phenomena and how they work, not have a hand book for all the most (predominantly judeochristian and Hindu) important "wisdom codes" outlined for me to practice myself
2) if most of your sources are contested or controversial... or are "secret lost works", we start getting quite a bit too far into Ancient Aliens levels of conspiracy, for me.
In the end, I was hoping for some academic analysis of languages, and what I got was "quantum field theory proves that God exists and that magic is real" and eeeeeeeeeh.... not for me.
I do give it a star because the author is both clearly passionate about the work and because the Wisdom Codes it goes over do align with good messages, revolving around fortifying our emotional well being in the face of struggle.
English review Here is one of the most incredible books I could ever expect to have read. I starter it almost a month ago and after the first couple of pages, I realized that if I was to get the most out of it, I needed to read it slowly, take time to ponder and to integrate the words. It is completely in line with all the other audio books or paper copies of Gregg Braden. He always manages to surprise me with his deep research that helps support his findings and explanations. It is truly ‘cutting edge of neurolinguistics’ meeting ‘spiritual wisdom of the ages’. Definitely in my top ten…
This isn't what I thought it was going to be. It's more a reference book one can dip into during certain times of life in order to glean the Wisdom Code(s) pertinent to those times and use them to help one through difficulties or times of trial. I thought it would be more a descriptive tome, rather like Gregg Braden's previous books, which I've always enjoyed and found useful and/or enlightening. This one isn't a book you can read through (unless there's nothing else to do). As for using the principles of Mindfulness (which is essentially what's being advocated here), it's already something I do on a daily basis so as to not become down and depressed or desparate in the face of what's going on around me and out in the world. I'll dip into this if I need to, but will shelve it as 'Read'.
As I continued reading this book, I appreciated the diverse wisdom codes Gregg presented. Very worldly approach to a healthy life opening communication between our brain and heart. Nice to see the spiritual and science realms come together. Truth, Love and forgiveness are very powerful allies for healing. Excellent book. Thank you for writing it, Gregg.
I wasn't too sure about this book but I was pleasantly surprised. I appreciated the breakdown and even the history of some of the verses, Psalms, prayers, and mantras. It really created a new perspective on prayers I grew up with. Once you have read the book I think it becomes more of a resource to pull out when you are experiencing a certain emotion or situation. With that said, it is a great tool to have at your disposal.
I purchased this book quite some time ago but didn't read it. I just finished it. I will be going back and working through codes that hit me the hardest. One code in particular opened my eyes to an issue I knew but it was explained so well that now, sitting with myself, I will be able to find where the losses occurred and heal. Thank you so much, Gregg Braden for writing this book! It's a book everyone needs to read!
Gregg Braden is a talented writer and speaker with the ability to explain, inspire, and soothe all at the same time. I loved the way he gently uses repitition to infuse the words into our brains. He also clearly shows us how to use each prayer. I recommend this book to anyone who is a seeker of spirituality.
I enjoy learning terms in other languages and what words really mean in the context of their culture. This book takes some of the most quoted verses of spiritual texts from around the world and peels layers of hidden meaning from some of their oldest translations. I recommend this book to anyone who believes in the value of words.
2020. Short excerpts from the scriptures of various traditions - the 3 Abrahamic religions plus Hindu, Buddhist, Essene, Navajo & Egyptian. The author combines these short verses with a meditative technique to bring heart and brain into coherence. In addition to these quotes, the author has put much wisdom into the book.
Gregg takes some well-known verses, mantas, and stories and gives them a new twist as to our approach to the use of these words. Using the recent research by Heart/Math Associates, he integrates these words from using the brain to the heart for greater power.
An interesting study of various religions/philosophies and how the study of words influences things. A simple, quick read that asks some deep questions the reader is then asked to ponder. Certainly got me thinking on a higher realm.
Very interesting and I opening. Well explained each and every code and why it works. Also gives the reader the opportunity to choose those codes that release best with her background and current situation. It doesn’t matter your religion or beliefs. Enjoyed listening to the book
I loved this book, it is packed full of wisdom, science, history and spiritual teachings. The codes are powerful if used correctly and will guide you to transformation and true healing
