A short, easy to read thriller about an insurance investigator who reads mysteries, telling others he is a PI. You find that what you read in books is very different from real life!
Again, the author doesn’t disappoint when it comes to writing invigorating stories. Dough Connor enjoys masquerading as the characters in the mystery novels he reads. The well-written plot is compelling and filled with greed, kidnapping, and money laundering. The drive behind Dough’s actions is slowly becoming more apparent. The reader is taken on a roller coaster ride with an ending that will shock you to the core, leaving the reader with the following message: Be careful what you wish for; you may not like what you get. I would like to know what the future holds for Dough Connor. I found him to be an attention-grabbing character.
Another brilliantly written crime thriller from P.T. Reade. Truly, this is short-story fiction at it's best.
Doug is a great character. Bored with life, bored with his job. He spends a lot of time reading mystery novels and pretending to be a personal investigator. When an average day at work suddenly takes a dramatic turn, he soon realises that life is not like the books. The moral of the story? Be careful what you wish for.
