Book two of the Prepper trilogy finds the disaster planner and emergency manager Dave faced with the choice of bugging out with his cohort of friends and family as he watches the societal collapse and demise of civilization around him after an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) solar storm has taken out the grid. A post-apocalyptic fiction series that takes you through the trials and tribulations of survival after the predicted NASA 2012 solar super storm unravels the lives and lifestyles of a group of modern day survivalists. The preppers decide on a lake front bug out with bags in hand as well as a unique group of operating vehicles from a bobcat loader to a lawn tractor. Will they survive? Could you? Let us find out, and join the party down the desolate dystopian landscape of a new beginning in a world without lights or technology.
I really am enjoying this author. His books are plausible, believable, and his characters become like family. This book is book two of series of three. Be sure to read book one. Foster has quite a few short books available that are, I believe, intended to be first books in different series. You can tell he's very knowledgeable about prepping and survival. One thing I will say concerning the other books of Foster's that I have read is that several are poorly edited with one being almost unreadable. I did trudge thru it because the story line itself was a good one. As I continued reading his books, the editing became better with each one I read. This series of books have only a few errors. Even with the errors, these books are well worth the read because this author is very talented as spinning a good story and each it unique in itsself.
The same complaints as the first one - the main character David is a little bit of a hot head, turning jokes out that kind of sound mean. But otherwise really good book. Some helpful hints and good books to purchase including one by this author on traps and snares. I'm not sure about all of these alternative vehicles working after an EMP but then what do I really know.
Now I am not a hard core prepper but Ron Foster has a nice balance of interesting POV and neat equipment. You can get great insight on the prepper world.
