The book is based on South African finance/investing but it seems like 90% of the information translates to the U.S. System. There's a ton of good, basic information on stocks, bonds, index funds, and other investments options for short and long term. (But beware, "your first million" in South African Rand is like $68k in USD as of today... so you may not be getting the exact information you bargained for.)

A concise non intimidating book on how to create wealth through long term investing.

I love how simple to understand and follow this book was. Financial terms were simplified with ease. It was particularly refreshing in that it is written by a South African author, which makes the advice relatable and practical.

It was more than just a book on investing - there were some valuable career, relationship and life advice thrown in that was unexpected but highly appreciated.

The key takeaway is that anyone can create wealth by applying great discipline, patience and staying closely connected to your vision for your financial future.

Thoroughly enjoyed and learnt a lot from this book.

This book on its own is an investment

This book covers a wide range of investment types many of which I was unaware off. Many of the material discussed in the book are also covered in the personal finance podcast with Bruce. I love the case studies and how Warren explains each person's strategy. I am not a reader and I don't read but I did finish this book in 3 days. I first heard about this book form the personal finance podcasts. Now I am getting ready to read Become your financial Advisor also by Warren Ingram

Usually I'd avoid such title books, but that's why I'm in a Reading Club, that frequently challenge me.
Will not add stars. Why? Read further.
The first two chapters were really thought provoking and eye opening.
Everything afterwards was mostly about South Africa related options of investments. While still informative, it left me wanting to have such overview of possibilities in my county. Research it is.
Overall takeaway - be disciplined in your financial habits and you'll do well (given the proper choice of financial strategy).

A refreshing financial book that looks at ordinary South Africans who became millionaires by adopting sage investments, lived within their means and had no debt. For years I believed that property was the hottest investment to hold, surprisingly it's not, not in today's climate of high interest rates anyway. Warren Ingram shares his vast knowledge of financial expertise and gives advice on investments based on your vision for your future. Everyone thinks being a millionaire is out of their reach, after reading this book it seems achievable!

So far I've read so many different books about investing that it seems I should know everything, yet there is always something new I learn. This book had quite a few useful points I will implement while investing.

Slow starter but now I want to read a follow-up

The book started a bit slow for me but the further along I read I could not put it down. Some very good ideas and I have learnt more in this book than Economics 101 at Varsity!

Great to read a book from a South African context. Some good insights as well. However, if you already do some research yourself or listened to Warren's radio or podcasts before, it is a bit basic. Good beginner guide, though

Good overview of investing, but a lot of repeated material from Ingram's other book. The case studies were insightful.

I rarely reward books 5 stars so this really has to be a good book that I'll be recommending until I lose my voice!

Motivational in saving, budgeting and recommendations in investment types.
Wish I knew earlier that some parts are specific to South Africa.
