Awakening on an unknown island with nothing but his name, Jak quickly proved himself a warrior as he tore through the most immediate threats around. Giant wasps, corrupted wolves, violent cavemen...all fell before him.
Now comes something even more challenging. With his elf love Niri and magic healer Rylee at his side, Jak must begin the process of forming his own tribe.
The cave that he took is a good start, but he'll need more wood, rock, plants, and, most significantly of all, other exiles to help build his tribe up against the other threats this island has in store for him.
I am Misty Vixen (not my real name obviously), and I imagine that if you’re reading this, you want to know a bit more about me.
In the beginning (late 2014), I was an erotica author. I wrote about sex, specifically about human men banging hot inhuman women. Monster girls, alien ladies, paranormal babes. It was a lot of fun, but as the years went on, I realized that I was actually striving to be a harem author. This didn’t truly occur to me until late 2019-early 2020. Once the realization fully hit, I began doing research on what it meant to be a harem author. I’m kind of a slow learner, so it’s taken me a bit to figure it all out.
That being said, I’m now a harem author!
Just about everything I write nowadays is harem fiction: one man in loving, romantic, highly sexual relationships with several women. Nowadays, I tend to write more human on human stuff, but I still have a lot of non-human ladies in mind for the future, so if that’s your thing then stick around.
I’d say beyond writing harems, I tend to have themes that I always explore in my fiction, and they encompass things like trust, communication, respect, honesty, dealing with emotional problems in a mature way…basically I like writing about functional and healthy relationships. Not every relationship is perfect, but I don’t really do drama unless the story actually calls for it. In total honesty, I hate drama. I hate people lying to each other and I hate needless rom-com BS plots that could have been solved by two characters having a two minute conversation.
This was another entertaining read in this series. It kind of has a Conan-ish feel mixed with one of those video games like Forge Of Empires. For some reason, I could totally see Richard Corben (If he were still with us) illustrating this in graphic novel form.

Misty Vixen’s “Raw II: A Primeval Harem” continues with the adventures of Jak, Rylee, Nessa and Niri as they seek to do more than survive day-to-day. Book II focuses on their efforts to bring other exiles together into their new tribe.
As a harem adventure book, there are plenty of discussions and actions between Jak and his bonded lovers. What’s unusual is that Jak’s growing tribe isn’t just an expansion of women for a growing harem. The new tribe includes men as part of mated male-female pairs, and at least one pair of women. The other men are actually decent characters, rather than the two types of non-MC men often portrayed in haremlit: the sidekick, or examples of evil brutes who must be killed. I found the dynamics between the various tribe members refreshing and entertaining.
The hallmark of Jak’s tribe is that no-one regardless of species will automatically be excluded. This rule creates discussions, distrust, wariness and acceptance among old and new tribe members. Good science fiction and fantasy stories have often used extreme alienness to foster our own examination of what it means to be human, and of fear and bigotry of those who are different. Raw II rises to this level, and delivers a better story and more interesting characters than many haremlit stories that focus only on lust and violence.
The second book in many trilogies often serves as a bridge between books one and two, and is itself the weakest in the trilogy. As enjoyable as Raw II was, it certainly is a terrific sequel to Raw I. While I’m looking forward to listening to Raw III, I do not feel that Raw II was only a filler in a trilogy; it’s a strong story in its own right.
Speaking of listening, by the way, I continue to be amazed by the energy of Katana Jones throughout the book! Her performance and range of voices were fantastic!
Fantasy stone-age survival harem adult situations non-stop human races I think one of the attractions of the series is its simple premise -- surviving in a lithic society. There are errors here and there, but it's not bad. For what it's worth, I have found an instance of when it actually is appropriate to have ellipses start a dialogue, but it's rare, it's when the character either awakens to people talking, or enters a room with a conversation already in progress. Again, using ellipses to indicate pauses? No. It's not a thing, and it's lazy writing. Describe facial expressions or something that the reader can use to build the scene in their mind -- and give a reason for small pauses in speech. For example, biting the lip in nervousness, rubbing the face with the hands, staring off a moment, sighing, whatever. It's a great way to not only build the scene, but also to show quirks and mannerisms.
The first book introduced the MC, Jak, and this book focuses on finding other exiles -- and other events that you will need to read about yourself. It's the building and gathering resources phase of the quest -- in this case, establishing a tribe and dealing with the dangers.
Misty likes trilogies, but does write longer series, presumably when book sales warrant it and personal interest in the characters keep him interested. And yes, despite the pseudonym and picture, Misty is a guy; the author's supposed gender has no bearing on the quality of the writing -- either it's a good story or it isn't. I look for story hook (plot), pacing, dialogue, and character uniqueness. I'll buy the next one in this series. Recommended.
At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review.
Genre: Harem in stone ages with fantasy aspects.
Power dynamics in harem: The harem members follow the MC lead in everything he suggests. He seeks out their opinions. Explicit/adult material: Explicit. Consensual. MF and FF.
Summary: The tribe grows and Jack and his group are continuing to settle in and building their community addressing challenges as they arrive.
Narrators Not much to say here that I didn't say in the review of the first book. Katana Jones again does a magnificent job that creates immersion and is easy to follow. Overall narration: 5 / 5 stars.
The book’s strengths. - I like the character Nessa! - I like the way this book sets the scene for the challenges to come in the series. - I lke that a liiiiiitle bit of diplomacy is introduced between tribes. I hope this will be more dominant later in the series. - Great narration
The book’s weaknesses. - The girls eagerness(/short-lived hesitance) to share the MC feels very fast. A bit more deliberations why they accept it or just inserting more time between girls would help for me.
Overall: 4/5 stars If you liked the first, you will certainly like the second. More Nessa and more goodness. I look forward to the 3rd!
Yeahhh is didn’t get better. DNFing the series here.
While some interesting ideas around the alien creatures and ethics around expanding the tribe were introduced, nothing happened. And in researching the author she’s vocal about not wanting conflict in her stories… which is weird because that’s literally the central part of all storytelling.
The smut is also gross. There’s no development of relationships and we don’t spend any time learning what the characters are specifically doing that makes them feel good. The woman are described with the same physical traits and the big emotional moments like Jak impregnating Rylee is just glossed over? This is the perfect example of everything I believe to be wrong with smut: titillating with no detail or impact on characters or story
Massive credit to Katana Jones for an incredible vocal performance. Every single character is vocally distinguishable and she’s a wonderful performer - I hope I get to read more of her performances with better material in the future.
Misty Vixen did it again! Jak woke up on a magical, stone age island. He rescues-and beds-women from different tribes and races, and faces off the dangers this new world brings. Wasps, spiders, a rival tribe lead by Torvar.
In order to survive, Jak's tribe must thrive. He doesn't only expand his harem, he also allows other men and women to join, not matter their origins. While keeping the peace within his tribe, he must also defend it against a brutal world.
I’ve now read Raw and Raw II and there are a lot of unanswered questions. We are led to just accept this but it the world building kind of flat. Interesting premise and twist on race relations but no explanation as to why it is like this hater Ed and mistrust. Sentence structure is jarring at times with missing words, repeated phrases, etc. However I have several.rap of Misty’s books and will probable read more. The three stars are for sentence structure missing words and jumbled phrasing. Each new book is getting better, structure wise. Please just start filling in the blanks.
This continuing saga of outcasts continues in RAW II. After the epic battle with Tolvar/wasps, and spiders, the three outcasts wipe up the remaining combatants and take over the cave complex. More outcasts are rescued and most join the growing numbers of the tribe. The first real battle with Tolvar seeking vengeance surprises everyone on both sides as the newly established tribe fends off the attacking Tolvar. I’m looking forward to further adventures in this series and am hoping for more action from the magic users.
Jax an exile himself finds a way to survive in an unknown island .
Jax an warrior by nature trained to be the best at what he does .In a sense he was reborn given a second chance to start fresh make a better life for himself being exiled done that for him plus temporarily not remembering anything about his former life . Finding challenges to survive on a hostile island an finding a little happiness doesn't hurt either makes things worth living for .recommend reading excellent series .
DNF in chapter 4 It didn't do anything bad or wrong. This book didn't offend me. I just got bored and lost interest. When starting a book two in any series, don't leave the story with no direction for four chapters. After the victory at the end of book 1, these guys are just doing house keeping and introspection. The author has a certain number of pages to hook the reader. You waste those pages at your peril.
primitive world, fight, flight, feed. friends are hard to find
Raw a primeval harem, Jak a fierce warrior will fight to defend himself and wants to form a new tribe. A tribe where all are welcome if they promise to do the right things. 3 promises to the tribe, the land and themselves
First, I'm a big Misty Vixen fan. Her characters are well developed, they have believable struggles with circumstances, and their relationships with each other and outsiders. There is action, adventure and spice that flows with the story! I strongly recommend that you read this series!
Already a fan of this author and this book makes me remember why that is. Starts right after the last one and follows the MC and company as they try to survive this deadly island they are on. No spoilers here, but already wanting the next one so I can see what happens next.
Really enjoyed a new story line. The characters are interesting and the story line flowed well. There still are a lot of questions that the main character still needs to reveal. Where did he come from? Can he teach his fighting techniques to his new tribe members? Cheering for the author to reveal the answers.
I really enjoyed reading this book series for the survivalist elements and the bonus for sure of the MC's harem acquiring personality, lol.
Misty Vixen brings it back with Raw II, dynamic combat and exploration with some new features in the mix. If you enjoyed the first one you are not going to stop until the last page.
When I first started this series, I wasn't really sure what to expect. It's much more a tribal adventure than standard high fantasy even with the multiple species. Jak's tribe really gets established now and starts to become a community instead of just him with his two women. Looking forward to where things go from here in the next one.
Really enjoying the primeval tribe building harem book, most start in a medieval society but this starts out much more primative but builds on the last book very well, i cant wait for book three and will look forward to more stories of jak and his tribe.
A very interesting world the author is building! A slow build of magic and world building makes this series so much more enjoyable to read then ones with overpowered MC's ones!
And this is what Jake will find and strive to overcome. Three women to love, and a tribe to grow. Where the darkness grows from and how to stop it. One step at a time, moving forward.
A very well written story line with a group of interesting characters each with their own personalities and made you want to keep reading to see what is going to happen next with that being said I am looking for Raw 3
G fighting and sex always form a good story. The way it played out was fast and exciting. I look forward to reading the third book. Will Jak save his tribe and stop the barrens. I hope so. It good read..
4.5 stars. I thing AWP 9 got a slightly better rating from me is I was more invested in those characters, but this is well written and moves the plot along also. Will be checking out #3 when it comes along; looks to be some interesting developments coming.
This story picked right up were the first book left off and built on the momentum from that. Great addition to this series, interested to see where this story leads.
The story continues to impress. I’ve downloaded the remaining two books and I’m excited to continue reading Vixen’s work. Defiantly becoming a fan and I’m already starting to glance at her other series!
To me there was much more action and flesh in this book than the last one. The characters are more involved with both the flora fana in this book than the first one.
Book 2 gets more serious about tribe-building and honestly the story becomes a lot more interesting now that there are non-harem members to interact with. Though Jak does continue to “get filthy” with his harem. No big planned conflict this time. It was fine.
The adventures of Jak and his tribe continue in this book. Just as it seems like Jak is untouchable events unfold which show there is a long way to go for the warrior. The connection he has with his mates is very appealing as are the mates themselves. I will be continuing onto the next book.
This a fine prehistoric fantasy harem adventure. It is well written and edited. It is more complex than the author's usual good work. I anxiously await the sequel.
