On Earth, Peter is a financial wizard, the accountant that could make your monetary missteps disappear in a sea of numbers, but he's trapped in a thankless job . . . until the day he's shot dead in his apartment . . .
Only to wake up in a body that isn't his and a world he doesn't know. Part of the hated Gold clan, Peter is now a servant in a land of cultivating martial artists, strange fantastical races, and warring clans. And while he might start at the bottom, the Gold clan gains their power through the accumulation of wealth . . . and making money is what Peter does best.
All he has to do is manipulate the clan he serves to gain fiscal power, uncover the truth behind the stigma against his new family, cultivate the power to fight those who want him dead, and do it all without revealing his true goals to the rest of the world, every step taking him down the Gilded Path.
Great idea for the skeleton of a story with nothing to flesh it out
It was OK, but just like the spicy scenes are fade to black, so is half of the book. Many chapters skip 4-6 months at a time, just so the MC is stronger and knows more in the next chapter. The ideas are great, but the whole book is kind of just a skeleton of the idea, which is new and clever and good, but with nothing to really flesh it out. The MC meets his first girl, and less then 10 mins later it FTB as they do it.. why is that even needed if it is FTB? She literally goes from wanting to kill him with a passion to having sex in 10 mins. Who does that?
I love a good cultivation book, and this one has included a few more elements that I'd more commonly see in Korean or Chinese cultivation web novels. But the unique cultivation methods of the Gold Clan, and the awesome characters make for a fantastical read.
Once I started I didn't want to put it down. I just had to see what happened next, and what new scheme Peter would come up with.
Definitely.looking forward to more in this series!
I was apprehensive about reading this but wow am I glad I gave it a chance. It was explosive from the first page and never let up. Peter is an accountant of an engineering firm that doesn’t have any qualified engineers. They don’t have any products to sell and he’s running himself into an early grave trying to keep it all together. He gets killed and reborn as a slave and has to figure out how to change his circumstances and the ride is epic to watch
Some lines can be cringes worthy due to how the mc thinks and acts in a completely new world however, I'm a fan on how he reacts to challenges and shocks certain people without the unnecessary face slapping you can expect in 70% of manhuas with similar introduction. Solid 4 stars if you don't mind some cringe
Found this looking for a completely different author, and thought it looked cool. It turned out to be a great story! MC is a "tad" OP, but was a lot of fun!
The overall world build puts you in a pretty small sandbox. The first fight reinforces the limited options available. The story is fun but I am unsure if a series is sustainable.
Mr Archer, I know that you have many other works that you are doing. But would mind keeping this on ongoing?? I love the characters, the storyline, the storytelling and everything else.
An interesting twist on cultivation and harems. Using coins to cultivate and game power Peter increases his personal power while growing the wealth of the House he is enslaved to. Well don characters and fun dialogue! I am looking forward to the next book!
An entertaining read for a Men's romance book but lacking a bit in the spicy moments. Still, the characters introduced are intriguing enough to want me to read the rest of the series.
