This book was so addicting! I loved the MMC Augustus.

I loved the Grecian Pirates of the Caribbean vibes of this setting. I am also a big sucker for a fated mates trope, and I really liked this one!

For some reason there were parts of this book that dragged for me, but overall the plot line was great, and this is like nothing I’ve read in a very long time.

4.25 stars, and great time was had, I am anxious to see where this next book goes!

A Romantasy with Pirates who are fated mates? Say less!

I had a really good time with this book. I really enjoyed the setting, pirate battles and the romance. I also really enjoyed a lot of the side characters. The other little twist of their souls having lived lifetimes together and we got little glimpses of those I thought was really great addition to the book.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for fated mates and/or a Pirate book. Thank you to The NerdFAM and Misty D. Waters for the gifted copy of the book.

Absolutely loved Sea of Echoes by Misty Waters! This pirate fantasy swept me away from the very first page. The world-building was rich and immersive without ever feeling overwhelming or slow. The characters were truly the heart of the story—Selene was incredibly likable, and Augustus? He is officially my new book boyfriend—utterly perfect in every way.

The found family element was beautifully done, especially Augustus’s parents, who added so much warmth and depth. The romance? A deliciously slow burn—really slow—but so worth it. And don’t even get me started on the evil princess…I hated her with a passion, which is a testament to how well-written and developed every character was.

The ending was both sweet and satisfying, with just enough setup to leave me eager for the next book. This was a solid 5-star read for me, and I can’t recommend it enough! Thanks to the Nerd Fam for the audiobook which was excellent!!

I received this book as an ARC from the author and I’m so glad I did! The story was well written and had me unable to guess what was coming next. If you love a book with a good twisting and turning prophecy that still hasn’t been completely fulfilled, and some good old fashion pirates then look no further! Small amount of spice but the banter is spot on! Can’t wait for the next in the series!

I absolutely loved this book! It is so well written. It has great world building without feeling overwhelming. The scenes are described in such a way that I can easily imagine myself in them. The slow burn chemistry between the main characters is fantastic, but there is so much more to this story. The ending left me anticipating the next book!

If you like pirate/sea themed books, slow burn romance, fated lovers, Anti-heroes, opposites attract, and action, then this book is for you!

I received an arc copy of this book and I am freely giving my honest review.

who knew that pirates could be SO fun to read about!!!

i both listens and read this book, and i REALLY liked it. there was a lot of world building and politics in this book which are always intriguing to me. a false king, reincarnated lovers, pirates, betrayals, love and loss. this book really had it all.

augustus the man that you are. the PIRATE!! he is the right amount of broody, funny, snarky, logical and passionate. he gives off major “touch her and die” energy while growing his affections for selene. the way his brain works and the things that come out of his flirty mouth are perfect.

selene. she feels so real to me. i love that she starts off as someone who would do everything for those she loves, but naive in the way she thinks about death in some ways. her strong conviction to always do things the “right” way, the clean way. but her development as she sees the world, the hurts and evil, allow her to grow. she finds the balance of what’s right and what’s needed in the end. i really do lover her and her character arc.

read this book!! i’m very excited for the upcoming books in this series and to continue reading in this world. i will day, you almost leave this book with more questions than you started. a lot is left unfinished and vague, but the author promises that is by design. i will update as i read future books, but overall really like!!

Okay, first off the narration for this book was spectacular. Between Misty Waters's words and Amelia Hugh's narration, it was a killer combo into immersing me into the Epic Romantasy that was The Sea of Echoes. With a prophecy at hand, soul-bound mates, pirates, a tantalizing storyline, a captivating slow-burn, a tyrant false king, an unlimited amount of battles, as well as monsters on land and sea Misty Waters created a perfect mix of Romance, Fantasy, and adventure.

This audiobook had me hooked within minutes of pressing play. The main characters in our story, Augustus and Selene were a force to be reckoned with. Their slow-burn romance was perfectly paced bringing all the build-up, the tension build-up from the push-and-pull relationship, the banter, and the unquestionable attraction.

If the Fated Romance wasn't enough; which let's be honest it was, then Misty Waters delivers the adventure inside this story. Between land and sea battles, near-death escapes, and trying to fulfill a a prophecy, no lack of exhilarating moments will keep the pages or seconds turning.

This may have been the first book I've read by Misty Waters but definitely won't be the last.

Pirates!!!🏴‍☠️

Did I get your attention? I will say that I enjoyed this book, but I didn’t LOVE it. I loved the narrator, but I think this is one of those books that would have really benefited from having more than one narrator(I do realize that costs more $$, so I am not lowering my rating because of it), but with how many characters there are, it would have been amazing to have more than one narrator to bring the story more to life! Thank you Nerdfam for the audiobook!

What a good book. I don't typically read pirate romances, but this one was so good. I love the idea of the fated lovers and them being a key to a prophecy that was really neat. I loved the journey the FMC and MMC went on and all the lost that had to happen to make them stronger. I really enjoyed this book and hope there is a book 2 to find out what happens to the horrible crown princess and the new or so to be new king.

I was fortunate enough to read an advance reader copy of this book before it released. I’ve read other work by this author, (she also writes sci fi romance as M.D. Waters) and I’m not lying when I say I’d read the phone book if she wrote it.

This story did not disappoint!

We first meet Augustus, who wants to captain his own ship along with his pirate parents, but is soon swept up in a mystery about a woman he can’t stop having intense visions of. A woman who has one brown eye and one blue eye, just like Augustus. He must find her.

Selene is a maid in a kingdom where the king has pretty much “gotten rid” of any threat to his rule. When she meets a man who tells her that the true king might still be alive and that she must help find him, she doesn’t want to believe it. But when she hears of the prophecy of the “fated lovers” who have reincarnated and are destined to seat the one true heir, she begins to believe.

Selene and Augustus go on a wild journey across the seas to find the heir, while battling monsters, villains, and a desire for one another they can’t explain.

I enjoyed all aspects of this story, but most especially liked the author’s talent in seamlessly blending intense action scenes with tender and emotional character interactions.

This story is ideal for anyone who loves a slow burn romance, vivid setting that takes place on land and sea, multiple points of view, and Game of Thrones type intrigue. I’m anxious to see what the rest of the series has in store! Definitely recommend.

So I am unfortunately DNF'ing this because while I enjoy the prose the sheer lack of setup and payoff plaguing the first four hundred and something pages does not give me the willpower needed to reach the end. My breaking point was when there was a scene that filled me with the same emotions as the 'i'm the spy' scene in rise of skywalker iykyk

Selene Marinea is the dutiful handmaiden to the abusive & psychopathic Princess Alexandra Vidalatos of Perean. Augustus Triarius is the arrogant son of two pirates who have taught him the ways of the sea & how to be an effective pirate & captain. The only thing they have in common: they have differently colored eyes, one brown & the other blue. And they both happen to be the third iteration of fated lovers destined to put a rightful heir on the throne as part of a decades-old prophecy which the cruel King Orestis (Alexandra's father) has already tried to thwart twice before. Can Selene & Augustus come together & not only fulfill their destiny, but outlive the king's death sentence, or will other surprise players find their way in this ugly political mix?

Having watched the audiobook recording of this book livestreamed on TikTok back in April 2024, I was compelled by both the intricate mythology behind the prophecy & with the individual character arcs for our two leads. Selene discovers her voice, while Augustus learns to take a step back & listen to others. It was nice seeing a love story develop between two characters who initially wanted nothing to do with the prophecy but who got to know each other on their own time & develop that sense of trust that can only be seen in the strongest of relationships. Misty D. Waters knows how to write solid action scenes, using "word painting", as I like to call it, to immerse us into a tense escape from the palace or battles on land or out at sea. She also does a decent job at selling us all her characters regardless of their good/evil affinity, alternating POVs between characters that further immerses the readers into these people & the world in which they inhabit; thereby allowing the readers to easily pull for our heroes & loathe our villains with an ever-loving passion. We're just here for the ride & Misty is steering the ship.

The only reason I'm giving this three stars is because while I found the story interesting (& I think there is a lot more to offer within the overarching lore of this world that the book hints at), I often found it difficult to get through. There were multiple instances where I kept stopping & starting, as well as finding myself reading lines over repeatedly that I already read but couldn't seem to process. To me that's a sign of boredom, which usually happens when I'm either no longer invested in the story or there's little to no action for long stretches of time (in fact I tried getting back into the book a couple months back but kept reaching a roadblock). Also, this book is fairly long, which can open the doorway to fluff & unnecessary scenes. However, there were quite a handful of plot nuggets dropped or hinted at pertaining to mythology & the fates of certain characters that I look forward to exploring in later books. Even after the bumpiness I experienced with this book, I feel that inspires me to keep going & give this series a shot. I certainly intend on reading more books in this series because I do believe in the potential of diving deeper into the world which Misty has so carefully crafted.

Within a few pages I knew I wasn’t reading the usual fantasy romance- a genre I’ve read a lot of. Waters stays true to the genre but avoids its tropes and pitfalls, creating a totally bingeable, epic fantasy. The writing most reminded me of Priory of the Orange Tree though the plots are extremely different. They both share complexity, rich characters, vast world building, and central mythologies. It’s the kind of book you’ll want to read quickly to know what happened- but also to go slowly to savor the characters and unfolding story. In small details, I enjoyed the character names and occasional specific detail that made the setting feel real and vibrant. Enjoy!

Amazing!

This was such a great book. I have been in a reading slump due to so many fantasy books being so similar to each other. I was struggling with finding something that would keep my attention. This book was so unique and it kept me engrossed until the end.
I loved the fated mates, reincarnation and slow burn romance, but my favorite thing was the found family aspect. I adore Cassia and Mettius.
Overall I highly recommend it to anyone.
Oh, and lastly I hope I never come across a shedine in this life...

I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to read this arc, and I can't tell you how much I absolutely fell in love with it. A Sea of Echoes is definitely in a league of its own. The writing style is absolute perfection, and the author does an AMAZING job with the world builing where you could literally lose yourself into it. The concept is fun and adventurous and the characters are everything and more.
PLEASE read this book, I promise you won't regret it.

Thank you NERDFAM for the gifted ALC. The world building was done so well. The information was done in a digestible way that allowed me to be fully immersed in the story. I loved the pacing and how the characters sleepy emerged into each other’s lives and created a found family m. The setting was so cool in fun! The time period felt medieval but with pirates. It had a good ratio of plot and spice.

Such a fun read! I really love Augustus and the greco inspired pirate world was super unique.

The fated mates trope really worked well in this story. Some parts did drag on a little more than I would have liked it to but the overall plot was fresh and kept me hooked, I am curious to see where the story goes next.

Thank you to the author and The Nerd Fam for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Are you ready to descend deep into the depths of a spectacular pirate romance? This fast-paced and action-packed story will have you curling up in your favourite reading place, because you won’t want to stop listening to the audio (or put the book down). The slow burn spice amongst the battles, banter, monsters and prophecy creates such an extraordinary fantasy, that was simply divine <3

4.5 stars. I really loved this book! The world was unique, the characters were flawed but so lovable, and I really loved the 3rd person with so many POVs.
I was a little hesitant about the fated souls reborn aspect, but it was done perfectly. This trope can def lean towards insta love (which I don’t like) very easily but this did not at all! The yearning and the tension was perfect. Super slow burn that had be gasping for air! I’m not sure the level of spice for the entire series, but this book had no explicit scenes.
The plot in general, had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning with the high stakes and adventure.
Augustus is one of my fav MMCs of all time. He’s goofy and fun, but so loving and protecting and we really got to see him grow as a captain.
I also loved to hated Alexandra and I can’t wait to see where her storyline goes.

Fated Lovers in every lifetime - reborn souls - prophecy - pirates - no spice - 3rd person - political intrigue - quest

This book had me hooked. Pirates!? Fated soulmates? Not even death can keep them apart!? I loved both the MMC, Augustus and the FMC, Selene! This was action packed, I couldn’t put it down. That ending, left me wanting more! I need book two. Shoutout to The Nerd Fam and Misty D Waters for sending this audiobook to me. I loved every minute of it.

You might expect a story about reincarnated fated mates to be another run-of-the-mill romantasy, but A Sea of Echoes is more plot-driven than most, with impressively detailed world-building. That said, it’s hard to build much tension between two characters when everyone knows they’re destined to end up together.

A lot of reviews claim this book offers a completely unique storyline, and maybe that set my expectations a bit too high…because I don’t quite agree. Aside from the inclusion of pirates (which is fun, though not fully developed), I didn’t find the plot particularly original. In the book’s defense, it’s tough to create a truly unique fantasy story centered on fated mates.

I had such a good time with this action packed pirate romantasy. This was such a unique story. I've been obsessed with pirates since I feel in love with Captain Jack Sparrow and now I've added Augustus Labienus Triarius to the ever growing list of book boyfriends.

Imagine a mix between Greek mythology and Game of Thrones, but also throw in some:
⚔️ pirates
⚔️ prophecy
⚔️ reincarnated fated mates
⚔️ gods
⚔️ slow burn romance
⚔️ epic battles and so much more!!

I highly recommend adding this to your TBR and I cannot wait to continue this series. I read along with the audio and really enjoyed the narrator.

I was lucky to receive an ARC of this book and sad I couldn’t finish it before it’s release date but nonetheless…

This book has everything: pirates, prophecies, reincarnated lovers, power hungry royalty, strange animals in the woods, and so much more. This book had so much packed in it, it could have been much longer. Each chapter kept you on your toes.

The story is told from multiple points of view but one of my favorites had to be Cassia, the badass pirate mom who I still can’t get out of my mind. Like always, the thing Misty does best is relationships. I love that her lovers don’t just magically fall in love like in some books and that they have almost this hate/love relationship, especially at the beginning. I really enjoyed watching Selene and Augustus figure out who and what they were to each other as well as on their own.

While so many things were fleshed out, I left the book with more questions than answers, leaving me excited to see what comes in the next book.

This book was so good. It has everything you would want from a fantasy novel - fated lovers, mysterious gods, pirates, assassins, and dragons. The world building was rich and sucked me right in. The monsters are terrifying and the romance makes you hot and bothered. Loved it. Can’t wait for more.
