An excellent read on spiritual disciplines. Drury is pastoral and theologically sound. I particularly liked his compact language. Each chapter begins with a well articulated one sentence descriptor of the discipline being discussed.

The flow of the book lends to accessibility and practical ways to engage the practices. There are study questions to help with group exercises as well. Lastly, in his conclusion I particularly appreciated his weaving of the spiritual journey around corporate identity. He lists several ways that the hyper-individualism of the Western worldview can veer away from the corporate models found in the Bible. There is much fertile soil to till in this book.
