Being the CEO of a major architectural company in California has taken over far too much of Chase's life, leaving no time for romance. But when a handsome Spaniard offers drinks and conversation, talking leads to one spectacular night and an awareness of what he really wants. But once Rico returns home to Spain, Chase will be alone again.

Rico lives on his family's strict schedules, with no time for contemplating what is missing in his life. He doesn't expect to meet someone special on this business trip. But he is drawn to the big, striking blond American. Giving Chase someone to talk to takes Rico's mind off his problems. And a mutual attraction gives them both a chance to forget everything else and let their passionate natures run free.

Chase has a company to run, and Rico must return home to Spain - a truth they must both accept. But will acceptance be enough when it comes to waking up alone?

In the words of one of the main characters of this story, the theme here is "Two troubled and trapped men." Firmly rooted in reality, this short book shows what it can be like when someone focuses on their professional life or the needs of others rather than their own happiness. It may have made sense for both men initially, while they were building a career, but, like many others, they end up trapped in what they have created and no longer know how to pull back. This is all well and good if their jobs are perfect and fulfilling, but how often is that the case? Definitely not in this book.

Chase is the CEO of a major architectural company in California, and while he is wildly successful, he has no personal relationships that come close to being positive. And he is beginning to regret the lack of a partner and missing someone to share life with. When he meets Rico, he knows the Spaniard could be "the one", but how the heck are they going to make a relationship work? The insecurity he feels, the hesitance to take a risk are uppermost in his mind, and he soon realizes he may have no choice but to accept they can never be together.

Rico is equally trapped in a life he used to enjoy, but now that he wants something different, he realizes how much others determine his schedule and priorities rather than him being in control. When he meets Case he begins to understand what is really important, and it is neither his family's business, nor the club he founded with his best friend. Not anymore. Not now that he has met Chase and begun to see what it can be like to have someone who can be both a friend and a lover.

If you like stories full of the reality of life and its pressures, if you enjoy reading about successful businessmen who find they have neglected their personal lives for too long, and if you're looking for a read with lots of hot action and some tough reconsideration of priorities, then you will probably like this short story.

Short and sweet love story involving two men, successful in handling their family business but when they meet they realise that they are quite unsuccessful in the relationship department.
Chase lives in California, where he is the CEO of his prominent architectural firm and Rico lives in Barcelona,Spain, where he manages his family’s lucrative tourism business. These obligations making it difficult for them to pursue what they truly want in life.
Two troubled and trapped men.

Will they ever make this work across the ocean?

I liked that the two MCs were older, Rico 40 years and Chase 37. They were both accomplished in their profession but had not found the one to spend their life with.
Although their love was super instant, being of that age I can see that you would know the minute you meet THAT person.

Chase & Rico were adorable. Their lust and passion for each other was palpable they still try to do the responsible thing.
Although both men displayed dominating personalities they had no issues submitting towards the other.

“We’ve got lots of issues to work out and I’m ready to get talking about them. After….” Rico smiled, lowering his voice. “After we set your sheets on fire, mi amigo, mi amor.”

Two men who live and work worlds apart meet and have a hot one-night stand. But… both men are lonely and stuck in a rut, their work consuming their personal lives. Now they get a taste of perfect chemistry, both in and out of bed, and letting that go becomes harder when one night expands to days spent together talking and making love. But the threat of distance and departure loom ahead.

Though from different countries and cultures, Chase and Rico are a lot alike. Both had professional goals and responsibilities that have now been met, but they still can’t really be themselves, even as they push forty. People rely on them, and they can’t take the time to be selfish and pursue what they desire. They ponder about their situations, still ultimately going their separate ways—but longing for the connection they found with each other. Hard decisions need to be made or they’ll be miserable for the rest of their lives.

For a short novella, this is a hot little number. Chase and Rico are manly men, masculine and strong. But in bed they have no trouble yielding to the other, an instinctive trust growing between them. They think so much alike they do belong together. The sex is hot. There are a few repetitive phrases but it doesn’t matter since this story is so sweet. The writing is solid, and we get insight into these men through their inner workings as they contemplate changing their lives, knowing someone will always be disappointed no matter what. I respected both men and wanted them to have their HEA. Recommended read.

"Two Troubled and trapped men." to quote a line in the book. A short read of two men so busy with life, they dont take time out for themselves. Chase and Rico from different ways of life, different backgrounds. Fall so hopelessly in love that they cant think of anything else but each other.
The passion they share reaches deep inside them. They do burn up the sheets, very nicely Id say. (smiles) They share the top and the bottom, not actually caring so much who is the submissive. Closing your eyes you can almost see the kitchen scene. Rico pushed up against the cabinets, Chase on his knees in tune with the smell and taste of his lover. The passion is not ever one-sided but a shared experience.
Rico's vacation is coming to a end, his family responsibilities weigh heavy on him. Chase as well has the running of his company calling him. How will they ever make this work across the ocean? How will Rico come to terms with what his family wants from him. Chase a serious work - oholic, should he delegate more of his responsibilities?

Rico and Chase will need to compromise, in order for them to be together. A heavy scale of what to do for themselves, weighs against doing for everyone else. It was a good story line even though a shortie, characters fit the story as well. Enjoy

Thanks to Decadent Publishing for the opportunity to read, review and promote another fantastic story by another fabulous DP author. Thanks to Starla Kaye to creating characters that I enjoyed reading.

I am not a slash reader normally, but DP seems to be breaking that "norm" for me. I will read novella length slash stories, but full lengths haven't made the list yet. However, the way Starla Kaye wrote these two male characters, I could understand why people are falling in love with the slash stories. Reading these two characters fall in love but then face separation for an undetermined amount of time was amazing.

With this story being novella length, I won't be writing much else about the story in general. If you are a fan of the m/m stories, then you should read this story. Rico and Chase are amazing characters.

This was the story of Chase CEO of his company and a workaholic and Rico also a hard worker and very driven to please his family. Chase has no time for a social life and has a string of lackluster relationships accompanied by lackluster breakups until he meets Rico. Rico is always striving to please his family and that has been enough for him until he meets and falls head over heels with Chase. Can the two men falling deeply in love figure out to make it work before Rico goes home? Will they be able to carry on this relationship overseas or is it doomed before it starts?
What I liked about this book was the relationship between the two men. It showed two men so into there families and careers that they barely have time to breath. Yet they find time love. It was beautiful. A definite must read.

I received this book in order to provide an honest review and I can honestly say I loved it. The characters are interesting and right from the start, you are rooting for them to be together despite there being many reasons they cannot. What I really liked about this audiobook is that the characters are believable and have relatable emotions. The only thing I wished there was more of was plot movement. This is a very sensual book and the scenes were written very well. But I would've liked a little more dialogue. Still, I will definitely keep my eye out for more of Starla Kaye's work.

OMG Chase and Rico...
One look, one touch and architect Chase belonged to CEO Rico. The Spaniard didn't need words to express himself. One look from those sultry eyes and Chase was putty in his hands again and again and again... Need I go on?
