I just wasn’t feeling it
I didn’t like the MMC and ultimately I couldn’t get into the relationship between Griffin and Scarlett.
He made a horrible joke right off the bat about her having to divorce someone in order to afford her house on the lake. Which put me off. And even when chastised by others, he didn’t really see the issue with it, and barely apologized. Then he was upset when Scarlett said the public would scrutinize her relationship with him, especially since she’s a successful billionaire, because of a patriarchal society and the double standards. And he just…didn’t get it? He was unfair and I wanted to shake him. Like open your eyes to the world and it’s problems. Women experience issues you don’t.
There was a grand gesture of love that gave me secondhand embarrassment because of the cheesiness. I know many people who love that- unfortunately I’m not one of them. 😅
The writing itself was great! It was interesting and the plot was entertaining. Short and sweet. The rest might’ve just been me being critical, but I didn’t believe in their love as much as I wanted to.

This was a really cute short story. I loved the fmc, she's a badass. She super smart and started her own company so she's someone any young girl can look up to. What I loved the most about this book is that SHES the billionaire not him.

Tech nerd billionaire and Buffy fan Scarlet and TV heartthrob Griffin Stone are the latest couple to be "chosen" by the wishing wall at Silver Lining, and I am here for it!
Wishing Upon a Star is a (dual) unrequited love/second chance romance (of sorts--they don't actually "take" their first chance, but it probably still counts? It wasn't for lack of trying on Grif's part, anyway), and these two definitely didn't know that their hearts were in the running for getting a wish granted, because Scarlet's friend contributed the dollar this time and neither one of them knew a thing about it. Which, honestly, was probably for the best, because they both had to do some major getting-their-heads-out-of-their-butts to begin with, so their work was already cut out for them
If you're a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, then OMG will you enjoy this series installment! (The fact that the author dedicated the story "to Spike" should have been a clue, but I obviously wasn't paying attention...) Even if you have no idea what "the musical episode" refers to, though, you'll still enjoy this really cute story. I have to admit if it wasn't dual POV Griffin would have had to work a lot harder to get this reader to like him, because he makes a really d*ckish comment early on. Fortunately, Scarlet appreciates a good grovel when she sees one ;)

Talk about crossed wires. He had felt this way. But she thought he felt the opposite. She felt the same but thought he felt the opposite too. Years go by and they run into each other again. He says some things and she slips out how she once felt. And then it all comes tumbling out!!
I absolutely loved Scarlet and Griffin together! Especially the way he dropped everything a ran to her when she needed him. They may stumble a little to their HEA but once they get there.... it's amazing! Just like these two! 🤍 My only complaint about these wishes... is that I wish they were longer!!! They're so good!!

Book 3 in the Silver Lining Series. A collection of 6 books written by different authors showing what happens when a local bar’s tradition of writing wishes on dollar bills then taping them to the wall fall off and start coming true.

When Scarlett thinks Griffin Stone she thinks about the boy in she tutored in High School who she had a massive crush on..unfortunately he was always picking on and making fun of her. Little did she know he was crushing just as hard but always felt like Scarlett thought he was a joke or just a dumb jock.
Fast forward 9 years or so when Griffin and Scarlett are both back home in Tahoe for a bit. Inevitably running into one another and having an awkward reunion. But once they both learn that what they thought was a one sided crush in HS was mutual? Holy fireworks it’s about to go OFF.

LOVE this book! Scarlett might be my favorite so far of the girls in this series. So intelligent, confident but hiding parts of herself. Griffin was adorable I was all set to think “ah he’s just a jock” NOPE there’s a LOT more underneath the surface of that one! Their story was sweet and reminds us all that the way we saw things in High School almost never turn out to be what was really going on.

High School Crushes 🤩
The Silver Linings series has another hit with Christina Berry’s Wishing Upon A Star. In this novella, we find a not quite friends to lovers theme. Scarlet is the super smart girl from high school turned into the queen of space robotics and the one that got away according to Griffin. Griffin, her childhood crush, has been living his best life in Hollywood. When a bear stumbles into Scarlet’s home and almost kills her, the blinders are off and the emotions come out.
I really liked it!! Both Scarlet and Griffin were easy to like characters that had done a lot of growing since high school. The short length of the novella made for an easy Sunday afternoon read while doing chores around the house and getting grocery shopping done. I also need to mention again how much I like Shawn and his appearances in every book. I love how each epilogue has a bit of foreshadowing for the next book. I have so much excitement for this series! Up next Jenni Bara’s Wishing for More.

Wishing Upon A Star is book 3 in the silver lining series. At the Silver Lining bar, it’s a tradition to write your wishes on a dollar bill, pin them to the wall and hope they come true. The Silver lining series follows 6 couples hoping for their wishes in individual novellas written by 6 different amazing authors.
During High School Scarlett was hired to be Griffin’s math tutor. She tutored him while harboring a secret crush on him. Griffin was head over heels for Scarlett but she turned him down every time he asked her out. She wasn’t used to positive attention from any of the popular guys and thought he was only asking her out as a joke or prank.
Years later when their paths cross again they once again misread each other. As soon as they clear up their misunderstandings and get on the same page, they are inseparable and incredibly hot! This may be a Novella but it did not lack a great storyline with steam and amazing chemistry.

This book is for you if you want a light, sweet, second chance romance. There is a hunky dream boat actor and a brilliant billionaire who as it turns out are way more than their surface level descriptions.
The two main characters haven't seen each other in years and when they meet up again they uncover all sorts of misunderstandings and heal old wounds in the sweetest way. I like the dual POV that gave the reader a chance to dip into each character's inner monologue and get more of their personality. The story was fun, light, and full of heart. The author did a lot with a short story by making us care about both characters and creating some fun drama and chaos to help mix things up.
I love all the Buffy the vampire references and will definitely be checking out some of the other stories in the series which are penned by different authors.

Wishing upon a star was a cute, enjoyable novella that I devoured.. Griffin was a hot jock back in high school, while Scarlet was a nerd who tutored Griffin. But that didn't stop Griffin from liking Scarlet. But every time he would ask her out, Scarlett figured it was a cruel joke since he was popular and she was not. Years later, they run into each other again and get to talking, and Scarlet finally realizes that Griffin's intentions and feelings have not changed and we're 100% true back in the day. This second chance story was so cute and sweet. This is one that will give you all the warm fuzzies. If you're looking for a sweet, second chance at love story, or just a quick, light read in between books, make sure you check this out..

Small town nerd girl turned into Forbes Top 30 under 30. Small town boy who went Hollywood and never made his feelings clear as the popular jock in high school. What could possibly go right or wrong for two characters like that? Truthfully I almost wished this novella were longer because I wanted SO much more story fleshed out for our MC’s. The fact that author Christina Berry brought a love of Buffy into it all though was top tier!
I loved how relatable Scarlet was in a male dominated field (hello relating to life) and how she finds herself finally being able to speak up for herself near the close of the story - even as a novella.
Griffin realizes a lot about himself too, and I loved that for him. These two were quickly and adorable, and I adored them.

I just have to start of by saying, I am absolutely loving this series. Now, on to this book.. I absolutely loved it. From the beginning, you are invested in the story and these characters lives. This is a short, fast, and highly enjoyable read. These characters, you will love them, and hope that they can be together and be happy. Scarlet, she loved Griffin on high school, but didn’t think he felt the same, felt that he only saw her as the nerdy girl who tutored him. And Griffin. He had always loved her. But felt that she only saw him as a dumb jock. Both of them, not seeing what the other saw. All through this, you hope they can work through everything. While this was a short book, it had lots of heat. Definitely recommend this book, and series!

First I want to say that I absolutely LOVED Scarlet and Griffin. I loved that Scarlet went from a shy girl to a confident, bold, successful bad ass who knows what she wants and what she deserves. Her character was chefs kiss. I also loved Griffin because even as a teen he knew what he wanted and was willing to go for it regardless of what anyone thought. Their relationship was so perfect. Most of the Buffy references (which there are tons) were lost on me as I have never seen an episode of the show but even still I really enjoyed the book and the characters. This series is great so far. Each book being different than the last but still flowing so well together making it hard to wait for the next book to be released!

We are back at the Silver Lining, and it’s magic. On this one we meet Scarlett and Griffin. Scarlett is a tech nerd billionaire but most importantly a Buffy fan. Then we get Griffin Stone a TV heartthrob. Scarlett had a huge crush on Griffin back in high school and he always had feelings for her but neither knew about it. These two were both very stubborn and really needed to get out of their own way. It was a great novella and enjoyed every single second about it/ they are perfect for each other and I love the whole Buffy references. Highly recommend this book and am excited to explore more from this author and look forward to more from the Silver Lining Series.

I'll read anything by Christina Berry because I know that I'll get real characters with authentic emotions and a happily ever after. WISHING UPON A STAR fits that bill nicely. The main characters--Griffin Stone and Scarlet Branson--though living lives far removed from mine, still come across the page as genuine people with complex and interesting personalities. They seem like they could be my friends and neighbors, and that appeals to me. Like Berry's other characters, these two also have a chemistry that romance readers will eat up. The overall premise of this series is cute, and this installment is especially delightful. And Buffy fans? Take note: you might not want to miss this one.

This novella was ADORABLE. It's a fast and fun read, with a happy ending that will make you smile. But the best part, for me, was the main character Scarlett, a kick ass STEM goddess who made a billion dollars designing space robots. I love the struggles she shared about being the only woman in the room during pitch meetings to investors, and about her hard journey to launch her business. In contrast, her crush fell into his acting career and is about to be unemployed. This contrast between male success and female success is SO stark and very struck an “art imitating life” chord for me.

This is my first book from Christina Berry and I really loved it. Now I need more of her books. Scarlett and Griffin have the most amazing second chance, really magical, the perfect wish come true. Scarlett, she powerful and successful and waiting for her true love, her only love. Griffin is so romantic and perfect for his Star. Silver Lining is definitely a place I’ll love to go and do trivia and Karaoke obviously. Next book sounds promising, can’t wait for start it. And yes, I’m desperate for Shawn story too.

Another great book in this series and this time we meet Griffin and Scarlett who had a mad crush on each other during high school but neither acted on. When they meet again many years later and are both successful in their own right they both realise they still have feelings and they embark on a second chance romance. Another fun story with a little drama but it still had romance and passion. This series has been wonderful to read but it is the characters who are finding their way in out hearts that are making these books so likeable. Highly recommend this series.

It was a great book. Griffin and Scarlet are cute together and the fact that they each didn't know how the other one felt is crazy. I loved Scarlet's queen mentality in the STEM world that is ruled by men mostly. This reminded a little bit like an Ali Hazelwood book with enough STEM references but more love interest. Overall this was my 3rd favorite of the series so far, can't wait to see what the other books will hold.

This is a cute read of two people who were each other’s crush when growing up. Neither thought the other actually liked them when in high school. Scarlett is the smart, savvy woman that owns her own tech business. Griffin is the “aging out” Hollywood star who has come back home to Tahoe after ending his TV career. We are back in Silver Lining folks. I’m really enjoying these novellas. This time you meet Griffin and Scarlet. These characters will definitely stay with me. It was definitely a quick read, and I enjoyed it very much. I definitely enjoyed both these characters and they brought so much to the story. Griffin took a little bit of time for me to like his character but overall he won me over! If you like tropes & hometown romances, this read is for you!

Novella that has a lot of feels! A small town girl who was awkward and out of place and the football player who rules the school part ways and run into each other ten years later. Life has changed and some how some of it stays the same. I love the characters and the way the plot unfolds. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick but full read!

I love this series of books and the idea behind them. Set around wishes made at the Silver Lining Bar. All the stories can be read as stand alone but the series is worth reading them all.

I loved the story. The fact that the author included one of my all time favorite TV series into a book. The character references were spot on.
The main characters were a hit with both thinking the other couldn't possibly want them. A true unrequited love. Buffy, stars, and bears, oh my! A great, solid story.

Griffin and Scarlett each had feeling for each other back in high school, but neither of them knew it. Now, ten years later, they admit to each other their past feelings, and guess what?! Yep, the feelings are still there! This story was so sweet! I love how reluctant Scarlett was to let Griffin in, but he was bound and determined to show her that he would make her his!

Part of Silver Lining Series. Quick read with plenty of action. Childhood crushes turned lovers with some fighting of the patriarchy all rolled into a whopper of a novella. Easily could’ve kept reading about Scarlet and Griffin.
