Sam and Valerie Owens, owners of the Banty Hen Antique Shop, find themselves entangled in a murder investigation after being the last ones to see the victim alive. Valerie’s new venture, the Sweet Tea Quilting Bee is comprised of an eclectic mix of women and their weekly meetings help keep Valerie’s mind off the murder, but it’s hard to keep concealed from the ladies that the victim was killed over, of all things, an antique quilt! The murder suspect has been described as tall and thin, a vague description, but Police Chief Jess Hamilton and his new detective, a self-described Columbo, are on the case, questioning every tall and thin person in town. Even Sister Margaret, a nun who has just begun her mission at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, doesn’t go unnoticed. But it’s hard not to notice a nun who dances and sings along with country music when she thinks no one’s watching.
Another winner for the author. I love how faith and prayer is woven throughout the book. It was a good mystery. I really enjoyed the background of the story taking place in an antique store as I was part of an antique store for 10 years. I would love to find a small town just like Park Place! By the way, I live in Mount Pleasant SC.
I happened upon this series by accident but have loved every one of these books. Small time South Carolina Presbyterian Pastor that ran from romantic relationships developed strong friendship with his neighbors that bought the old home for the minister ( Rev Rock)when the church renovated the old antebellum home that houses the church to make a larger home for him. When the husband of the couples has a fatal heart attack at age 45, Rev Rock continues the friendship with woman and this turns into unexpected love for each other. The books follow their marriage, then the birth of their son, then continues with each book related to their story, family and friends. It is a quaint book with religious tie ins in every chapter. Great reads
A rainy winter day is interrupted by the strange man from Maryland. Then the sister arrived to help Father Thomas. A rude woman is asking about antique quilts like all stores should carry one and a tall man keeps pestering Valerie and Sam about fishing lures. Hope the sun comes out soon.
Glenda Manus developes each character so well! I started reading this series from book one and absolutely love reading about this small town in South Carolina. I really appreciate Rev Rock and the scriptures through out the books. I’m so glad I discovered this author.
Glad to be visiting Park Place again. Central characters were new to town but nice to have familiar characters as well. A fun cozy mystery with a happy ending
Lovely storyline. Happy ending. The whole series has been a pleasure to read. Ready for the next book. I think I will be a follower of Glenda's books for a while.
I wish this book would go on as a stand alone series. It is not a religious book but it’s a very good story and it is defined a refreshing change for all the cursing and sex I have read in other books a good clean mystery
I listened to the audible book, and I'm certain the narrations by virtual voice will improve in the pronunciation of certain words and phrase, Jōb not job, OB Gyn not objyn. I also find listening at a higher speed improves the mood of the narrative for me.
It was so refreshing to read a murder mystery without the graphic violence. I love the people of Park Place and hope for many more Southern Grace Books. PLEASE😘
This has it all, quirky characters, lovable sister, humor and best of all a great plot.I read this straight through. Can't wait to read the rest of the books
Another Sweet Tea and Southern Graces book. Set in Park Place, NC, the folks from this small town are involved in solving 2 murders and another romance.
Quilts and mayhem! A missing Baltimore Album Quilt and 3 murders plus a baby and a wedding! What more could you want in one book. Great storyline, wonderful characters.
A tall thin stranger is murdered in the alley behind the flower shop but way. The last people to see him was Sam and Valerie, the owners of the antique store.
The antique store needed some boost in sales and Valerie decides to start the Sweet Tea Quilting Bee. Each woman has a different level of quilting skills. Some are newbies and some are skilled. Who knew someone would be killed over a Police Chief Jess Hamilton was out of his league investigating a murder so he hired a new detective with experience. He even wears a trench coat like the TV show Columbo. Then there's Sister Margaret who has been sent to Savannah to assist Gabriel's Catholic Church. She too has a story.
