I never considered myself a sci-fi fan, but this audiobook completely changed my perspective! I absolutely loved this unique thriller and can’t wait to explore more works by this author. "Invader" was truly brilliant!

A nice little bedtime story if you like science fiction
If you like the host, you might enjoy this one as well ... ditto if you're a trekkie ... I liked that it took me a while to figure out the plot ....

Waking up on an island after an accident, a woman whose told her name is Rose, has lost her memory. Alone, cut off from the world, the only other person is a scientist from another team. Unfortunately for her, it seems they've just met. He doesn't know much at all that will orient her or help her remember.
Yet there are flashes in her head, possible memories, of a life that could be hers or one she just knew about. They're of a girl, a thief. Something just isn't adding up. There's little time to dwell as there's a far bigger problem to contend with. There's a monster, a potential alien, stalking them after crash landing.
Told in split perspective between Rose and this girl she has a hunch of, Kailey, Invader feels a bit like two different novels. One is the extraterrestrial mystery. The other is a literary examination of a woman's poor familial relationships and the abysmal conditions of our criminal and prison system. Unfortunately for this book, the one that is supposed to keep the drama and hook the reader, is pretty much a flop.
The twist is incredibly predictable in part because of the chosen formatting and in part of just being someone who even casually dabbles in scifi. To add to my frustration is the fact that Rose constantly is inclined to jump her mysterious companion's bones even when he proves to be less than honest. I can see an initial attraction, but how it kept cycling back just made me roll my eyes. Likewise, the ending was crammed and rather anticlimactic.
The premise itself had promise. It wasn't the worst book I'd ever read by far. It was just lackluster.

invader, my first read from author Margie Benedict. A page-turning thriller. Great storyline with great characters with great chemistry! I had this book figured out, except I didn't. I look forward to the next read from this author. "I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

2.75 Stars, rounding up. Decent audiobook, started out strong. I really enjoyed Kailey’s perspective, but Rose was insufferable. I think this story would have been more impactful if it was a tad longer to allow for the development of the characters. I felt like it was a lot of telling and not showing.

This is a really good read! I did really enjoy it! Great idea and it has been updated since it was first released in 2019. The extra polish has made this well worth will read & I do recommend! Great unexpected twist, you will never see coming! Don't read this alone at night!!

Decent short book following two storylines that the reader tries to connect until it finally clicks into place. Barely sci-fi until quite late into the book, then it comes in with some interesting implications of future AI. Not bad overall.

I liked the narrator and writing style but didn’t really live the storyline. I also predicted the end which makes it a little less enjoyable but I would be open to other books by this author

No review found. And while I remember reading this before I could not remember the premise or the ending until I got well into the story. Interesting read though strange premise (the experiment). Some violence and abuse but I did enjoy the story so a “more” rating for me.
