The most entertaining Torrent Witch novel I have encountered so far, the mystery is actually real and the culprit doesn’t come from absolutely nothing.

The cute cosy mysteries continue to plague Harlot Bay and Harlow continues to try and get to the bottom of her own personal mystery of being spelled (or maybe “lost”??), managing her usual family drama, her growing love for and with Jack as well as supporting the putting on of a play!

And…another talking cat????

I’ve been enjoying this series with all its cozy, witchy vibes. The Torrent women are a handful at the best of times, but problems just keep popping up in Harlot’s Bay.

This book was a bit scattered for me. There are always a few different plot lines running through each novel, but this one was a jumble of different disasters vying for attention and distracting me from the love/hate salamander that could cause a major catastrophe in the small town.

Running through the last few books has been Harlow’s knowledge that she’s under a powerful spell of unknown origin. Every time she thinks about investigating it, she’s deflected by an equally powerful concealment spell that makes her forget what she’s doing. This device is getting a bit old for me. I have trouble with the fact that her cousins, the moms, Aunt Cass and even Hattie Stern are all under the same compulsion to pay no attention to this huge elephant in the room. Who’s the mystery caster and what are they hiding?

I didn’t enjoy this story as much as I could have if I wasn’t constantly distracted, like Harlow and her family. I hope the next book is more satisfying.

Harlow Torrent's back, and this time, things are getting dramatic... literally! Desperate for a paycheck, Harlow finds herself as the beleaguered assistant director for a production of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." But the only thing getting tamed is Harlow's patience.

Murder Most Bard: When the tyrannical director, Hanz Holtz, is found poisoned mid-coffee break, Harlow is thrust into the spotlight (pun intended). With protestors picketing the play, venomous creatures causing chaos, and a Torrent family wedding thrown into the mix, Harlow's plate is overflowing faster than a witches' cauldron.

Love is (Maybe) in the Air: Amidst the mayhem, a touch of romance blossoms (or maybe rekindles?) for one of the Torrent cousins, and an engagement adds another layer of chaos to the already overflowing cauldron. But can love bloom in the midst of murder and mayhem?

Aunt Cass Being Aunt Cass: Let's not forget Aunt Cass, whose unique brand of "slip magic" is sure to add a dash of the unexpected to the already explosive situation.

A Cliffhanger That Will Leave You Speechless: Just when you think you've seen it all, Tess Lake throws a curveball that will leave you desperate for the next installment.

Another witchy mystery starring the Torrent witches.
In this story we see Harlow become involved with a theatre group putting on a production of "The taming of the shrew" but she gets more than she bargained for.
As Harlot Bay is experiencing a huge surge of love in the air and Aunt Cass is on the trail of a love salamander in the drains that Harlow, Luce and Molly are helping to track down.
Meanwhile the production is beset by disasters, water gallons exotic, doing, sandbags falling from the rafters, even an attempted murder!
Is it really the Salamander who is stirring up all the emotions and volatility or is there someone else at work who wants the show to fail?
I am so sad I'm coming to the last of this series, every novel has been so different but I love all the characters.

I really liked this story how Tess Lake switches it up. I thought maybe Harlow would get the groove back to become a journalist but nope. It wasn’t bad however, I think this story didn’t really invest in The Who done aspect. This one really focused on the the family relationships too. I love how Aunt Cass is in it and she is more likeable and yeah still a meanie weenie but she does get to show her caring side. The ending or at least the reveal of The Who done it was wild. Was not expecting who it was but definitely was a wild ride. Definitely enjoyed this book. I listened to the book via Audible.

Getting desperate for any kind of income, Harlow Torrent is assisting the director of the play, Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare.
After being directed to get him a coffee during a break, she finds Hanz Holtz on the ground with obvious signs of having been poisoned.
Protestors against the play, venomous animals, a wedding for one of the Torrent matrons, and one of the cousins getting engaged. Not to mention Aunt Cass being Aunt Cass, Harlow has her hands full and probably needing help.

Another fun story from Torrent Bay with developed characters and lots of shananigans.

I’ve been blazing my way through these books on Audible. Seven books down and I cannot believe how many cliffhangers and big questions are still going on. The last three books have a lot of work to do. Please please please don’t be one of those series that don’t truly end 🙏🏻

These books are fun. I like the characters a lot. The stories are simple and each book’s plot gets tied up very easily and very quickly. But there are big questions that have a through line across all the books that are a bit frustratingly open-ended.

the cozy, magical vibes continue in this installment and Harlow has taken on the role (no pun intended) of assistant to the director of the town’s production of Taming of the Shrew. the mystery begins when this tyrant director is poisoned…

who is responsible is anyone’s guess and while this is high on the list of mysteries to solve, there are other issues that Harlow is working to get to the bottom of—it’s definitely keeping her on her toes!

as always, this book is full of delightful humor, romance, and a cast of supporting characters that i absolutely love! 🎭 ✨💞

As the series continues, I'm starting to wonder about all the incidental stories. But, this book does provide a few more clues to the greater story including 4 marked rocks that can be organized to note "Lost Witch Took Jack" or perhaps something else. I did enjoy this book for seeing how Aunt Cass has energy and knows what the real priorities are, the wisdom to not worry about the rest too much.

These books are fabulous "palate cleansers" - they're light, they're fun, but they're not (too) silly: they have decent storylines with mysteries to solve and characters that you actually care about. But they're not difficult, which is all too necessary in a world full of difficult stories and too much seriousness...

I don't understand the rush these characters have with their relationships. I also don't understand the entitled fixation Molly and Luce have about their business. And I totally don't understand why Harlow is all about "I promised I was going to be honest" before just lying or hiding the truth. I just don't get this.

This is a fun, exciting series with so many enjoyable characters - Harlow and Jack, Luce and Will, Molly and Oliver, Aunt Cass, Peta and Jonas, Sheriff Hardy, and the 3 mom's. There are unfinished scenarios in each book which had me buying all the books in the series. Not mad at all. Loving it!

Such a fun series. Getting more dangerous and more intriguing as it builds. Warning coming from everywhere and Harlow and Jack trying to figure it out. A fun, adventurous, and ever building story. Have fun with it.

My rating is 2.5-- The mystery is dragging. You'd think after seven books the spell on Harlow would be a little less mystified. I'll be taking a break from the series before finishing it. I'd give up if I didn't get all of these books for one credit on audible.

Loved it!

This story is adorable. I love the Torrent Witches and Jack and Adams. I laughed so much listening to this. I was following along in the ebook. I really love the narrator for the audiobook, though. Natalie Duke is excellent.

Book 7 is just as good as 1-6! Part of this book focuses on a play that I participated in during junior high. So needless to say it brought back good memories since I’m 52 but I digress. My favorite part of this book is the cave of salamanders. And of course, Aunt Cass and her antics!
