I came to Hallow’s End to start over. Falling in love wasn’t part of the plan.Tucked away in a quiet cottage with a paintbrush in my hand, I can finally breathe. No boardrooms, no expectations–just a cozy, charming small town where I can be myself. It’s the perfect place for a fresh start.
Then, I meet Ethan. A steady, kind-hearted teacher who starts to feel like home. Watching him care for his little sister, I begin to feel like maybe I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
But when my toxic ex resurfaces, determined to pull me back into the life I left behind, I have to make a choice. Will I return to my old life…or am I brave enough to choose myself and the future I can see for myself?
Perfect for fans of Pumpkin Spice Café, Virgin River, and Practical Magic, this is a cozy, slow-burn romance full of found family, small town romance, and the bravery it takes to follow your dreams.
Between Then and Now is a small-town, slow-burn romance with all the heart-melting moments and swoon-worthy tension you crave—plus a green flag hero who knows exactly how to make a girl want to stay. HEA guaranteed! Single POV, first person narrative.
Patricia Prior writes romance that lives everywhere—on war-torn fantasy battlegrounds, in small-town diners, between teeth-baring monsters and late-night text messages. Whether it’s soft and slow or dark and destructive, her stories always center love in all its messy, beautiful, break-you-open forms. Expect emotional chaos, sharp edges, and characters who ruin you (in the best way).
I’m back here a couple months later editing my review because I feel like I wasn’t totally honest and I’m trying to improve on my reviews…
I did enjoy the book to an extent, but I found a lot of it quite cringey and hard to get through - very similar to the vibes people have found with the Dream Harbour books - the spice in this book was NOT IT for me it just made me cringe so bad, but it is an overall cosy autumn read, if you’re into fluffy romance it may be one for you. There was also so much talk about her ex in the book and I just didn’t enjoy the concept, but for someone going through similar this may be more enjoyable for them.
⭐️⭐️.5
Original review below:
I was lucky enough to read this book before it’s official release and it is PERFECT for the autumn season!!!🎃
It is a cosy, feel good, small town romance that gives you proper spooky season feels!! set in the small town of Hallow’s End with its touch of magic, it was giving me the vibes of Halloweentown x Virgin River!!
Our FMC Vinnie moved to town from the city for a fresh start and finds herself in the town and the people around her, leaving the pressures of her past behind, similar to the concept of Pumpkin Spice Cafe… if you loved that book, you will love this!!🥰
“The past belonged in the ashes, and that’s where I intended to leave it.”
“Loving him didn’t feel like losing myself. It felt like finding something I didn’t even know I was missing.”
I loved the character Ivy and the friendship she formed with Vinnie, I noticed this is Hallows End book one… so I’m hoping we hear more about Ivy and her bookshop in the series🥰
You’ll love this if you enjoy: 🍂 Small town romance 🍂 Slow Burn 🍂 He falls first 🍂 Found family 🍂 Opposites attract 🍂 Touch of magic 🍂 Fresh start
A mixture between Gilmore Girls, Practical Magic and The Pumpkin Spice Cafe.
“Loving him didn’t feel like losing myself. It felt like finding something I didn’t even know I was missing.
The perfect cosy fall read. Finding the courage to leave the past behind and follow your own dreams.
The story follows Vinnie, who heads to Hallow’s End for a fresh start. Here she meets some amazing friends and Ethan. Will she let her past catch up to her or will she seize the future she’s always dreamed of.
This was a very well written and easy read. I loved embarking on Vinnie’s journey of healing and discovery and watching as she finds out who she wants to be. Truly emotional and the depth of description throughout really helped you envision everything so clearly.
I adored the story, the friendships and I especially loved Ethan and their healthy relationship. This was very refreshing. 💜
I absolutely loved this book- such a wholesome autumnal read! This book touched on it all, romance, family dynamics and friendships!
Vinnie visits Hallow’s End to try to escape the life back home, the life she never wanted but was forced into. It’s only meant to be a temporary visit, to clear her mind. That is until she meets the charming teacher Ethan, she cannot keep away, leading her to reassess what it is she wants to achieve in life and what her goals are, with the little help from 2 new fitness and Ethan, she is inspired to open up her own art gallery to showcase her talent and help inspire others.
This book just made me smile from page to page. I loved the themes of friendships and how this shone throughout the book. It made me reflect on my friendships and how they would do the same to support me achieve my dreams, no matter how crazy it may seem.
If you liked Pumpkin Spice Cafe, then you will love this book. It's simular vibes with a touch of magic added to the mix! It's the perfect cosy read for this time of year. I absolutely adored it. It's such a feel-good story. And I would definitely recommend giving it a read!!
Between Then and Now. Finding the courage to leave the past behind and follow your own dreams.
A mix between Gilmore Girls and Practical Magic. Between Then and Now follows the story of Vinnie, a young woman who lives her whole life suffocating from the claws of her parents and boyfriend, Sebastian. After a debilitating breakup, she arrives in a little town called Hallows End. With its eccentric charm and its quirky residents, Vinnie finally takes the breath she’s been needing in her life. The real question is however, will this be the life she needs?
This was such a cute read. All of the characters were so likable and I really felt like I was traveling the town with Vinnie.
The description of the town and every detail of the person felt like Nick Carraway wrote this book, but I didn’t mind how extensive Patricia went into detail with everything.
I will say however, the conflict/climax, to me, was a little too easy. Without going too much into detail and giving away spoilers there should have been more of a push, especially with how much in control Vinnie’s parents had on her life. I feel like in reality, there would have been much more resistance from the parents from letting Vinnie stay longer than she should have.
With that being said, with an easy conflict comes an easy resolution, which did work for that situation and how it’s written.
The flow and pacing of the story was pretty good. Again, the attention to detail that Patricia wrote everything, from the smell of the town to the thread of fabric that a character was wearing was impeccable. It was as if I was actually in the town, which is what I believe was the intention and it worked well.
I received an ARC and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to Patricia and her team. I’m excited for the rest of her work!
Levinia, affectionately known as Vinne is escaping the elite upper class in the city for a small, quaint town filled with an energy we all crave. Rediscovering herself, developing real friendships is a close knit community, Vinnie works through her trauma, learning to stand true to herself and her heart.
Well… I’m not normally a small town romance kind of girl but I picked it up for the spooky vibes hoping for a supernatural romance. I didn’t get what I wanted….. I got something better, something new and I fell head over heels with Hallows End, with Vinnie, Ivy and Ethan…. Oh Ethan… you remind me so much of my man!
The way this romance is written and the setting so beautiful imagined just drew me in deeper. I found myself no longer seeking my usual genre and instead wanting more of this story. I really empathised with Vinnie - how she had never truly been seen, heard or understood and when she found her tribe I was so happy for her and how they helped her find herself and her stance.
The romance was beautiful. A few teary moments which I won’t spoil here had me wanting to knock their heads together but the magic of the town sure knew what it was doing and how to weave that spell deeper and deeper.
The towns magic not only wove into romance but healing too and I was particularly tearful at a special reunion at the Halloween event.
All in all this was a great read, well written, great characters and a beautiful romance between two wonderful people. Highly recommend.
This book was the perfect intro to start my Fall books. It definitely has cozy small town vibes 🍁. The writing was super easy to digest. I love the way I felt in the story.
Her family and Ex were such horrible people. Saying her passion for art is just some "hobbies" and that "she'll get over it". She left on a vacation to a small town and ended up falling in love with it. Made the most perfect and supportive friends ever. That led her to pursue her art dream of opening a gallery. That is till her ex and family wanna show up and ruin everything. She does finally stand up to them. I loved that her mom came around. At least one parent tried.
The communication and supportiveness between the two main characters is so refreshing. They develop healthy boundaries. She has a support system of her friends. This place is perfect for her.
I was delighted to recieve the ARC of Between then and now by Patricia Prior.
If you love Pumpkin Spice Cafe then you will love this!
This was such a lovely story and it perfect for this time of year. Set around Autumn and Halloween.
It's made me want to pack up and go off to Hallows End.
It follows the story of Vinnie, who is brought up in a socialite settings with cold hearted high flying parents, fake friends, and a power hungry ex boyfriend. All she wants is too leave the manipulative ways, follow her dreams and start fresh.
Her character is such a breath of fresh air, who just wants nice friends and family who support her no matter what. She just wants to be happy and to feel supported, and why shouldn't she? I think she must of been in a dilemma to stay where she is, with everything she knows or leave, and see what is out there for her. It definitely shows the inner strength that she had to do what is right for her.
So she leaves the busy city, her family, her past and all the bad feelings and goes to the charming town of Hallows End.
She meets Ivy, who has lovely quirky personality, who quickly becomes her friend and takes Vinnie under her wing and then Ethan, the local teacher, and is sweet soul and you can feel the magnetic connection that these two have straight away.
I don't think I have egged on a couple to get together as much as these two.
Vinnie has to get over her mental demons and not let her past overcome her future.
Between Ivy, Ethan and the many people of Hallows End, they all showed Vinnie the support and love that she needed to believe in herself and be exactly who she wanted to be.
Patricia portrayed such a heart felt story, I couldn't put it down and I was really rooting for Vinnie to follow her dreams, know her own self worth but to also be in a healthy relationship with Ethan and have a happy ever after. It just left me feeling good when I had finished the book. I'm hoping this will be one of many will become a series, and I'll learn more about everything that is Hallows End.
Thank you @bookwormbookspr and @authorpatriciaprior For letting me read this lovely book.
Thank you so much to Bookworm Books and Patricia Prior for giving me an ARC of this beautiful story, I cannot stop thinking about it. Don’t let the synopsis and cover fool you, this is a story about healing and growth. At its core, it reads as a cozy small town romance with Halloweentown vibes, but its message is so much deeper than that. Our main girl, Lavinia or Vinnie for short, is struggling with the fallout of her previous relationship with a very narcissistic, undeserving man, while juggling the pressure from her parents to work under the family business. By taking a leap to visit the small town of Hallow’s End, she hopes to get some clarity from the whirlwind that is her life and what it’s doing to her mentally. Thinking that she could just take a small break in this little town to clear her mind, she is soon ambushed by a cast of genuine and friendly townsfolk and a chance at the life she never knew she could have. In the end, Vinnie learns how to stand up for herself, and how to grow into the person she’s always wanted to be, not what everyone else wanted for her.
I really resonated with Vinnie, and the romance was the icing on the cake. I love how accepting, gentle, and sweet Ethan is, even though Vinnie struggles to figure out if she is deserving of this great love. She finds herself constantly thinking of Sebastian and what they had, via flashbacks, throughout the book. What initially seemed like a happy, whirlwind romance soon became evident that it wasn’t quite as magical as it appeared on the surface. Once Vinnie has spent some time in Hallow’s End, she finally learns a lesson on self worth and self love. By the end, she is not the same person she was at the beginning and that is so clear with the way that Patricia writes her inner monologue.
A colorful cast of characters, an important message, amazingly written spice; Patricia has outdone herself and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for book 2.
🎃small town romance 🍂touch of magic 🎃fresh start 🍂he falls first 🎃found family 🍂opposites attract 🎃slow burn 🍂perfect romance for spooky season
then this is the book for you!
This was honestly such a beautiful read and I wish I could pack up and visit Hallows End myself! If you're looking for a book to snuggle up with in the autumn months, this is such a good pick.
We follow our FMC Vinnie, brought up in a world of luxury and fake smiles, galas and cold shouldered parents. She wants nothing more than to escape from everything she knows, to find herself and start again. When she heads into Hallows End for a small break, the picturesque town is full of promise and is perfect for a fresh start. We follow Vinnie on her journey of healing and discovering who she truly wants to be.
I related to Vinnie so much as I felt every emotion she was going through, it was such a bittersweet journey as she struggled on deciding to follow the path that was already built for her, or break free from the mould and follow her own direction. She really took the leap of faith to follow her passion and I'm so happy she did.
Ethan is everything and more that you'd want in an MMC, he's a true gentleman through and through, the perfect small town guy with a heart of gold, watching his and Vinnie's relationship blossom into something more, melted my heart - he's a walking green flag and I'm so here for it.
Patricia has created the most beautiful book and characters, the detail in the book really made me feel like I was in Hallows End, walking down the cobbled streets full of promise and Halloween spirit. Ivy and Amelia were fantastic characters, taking Vinnie under their wing and introducing her to their magical town.
I don't even have enough words to describe how much I love this book - thank you so much for the ARC!
Thank you to @MyUniversePR and the author for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
If you’re into the cozy vibes of Pumpkin Spice Cafe, you’re going to fall in love with Between Then and Now by Patricia Prior.
This book was exactly what I needed — super comforting, a little whimsical, and totally perfect for autumn. It’s set around Halloween in this charming little town called Hallows End, and honestly, I kind of want to move there immediately.
The story follows Vinnie, who grew up in this super polished, high-society world — think distant parents, fake friends, and an ex-boyfriend who’s basically ambition in a suit. She’s totally over it and decides it’s time to leave all that behind and figure out what she actually wants from life.
So off she goes to Hallows End — this adorable small town full of friendly weirdos and cozy fall energy — and it’s there she meets Ivy (quirky, sweet, instantly lovable) and Ethan (the local teacher and possibly the most wholesome man alive). The sparks between Vinnie and Ethan are instant and so satisfying to watch. I was fully rooting for them from the start.
What I really loved was that this isn’t just a love story — it’s about Vinnie choosing herself. She’s trying to let go of her past, stop doubting herself, and build something real. And the people she meets along the way — especially Ivy and Ethan — help her see that she’s worthy of actual love and support.
It’s heartwarming in the best way. I closed the book with a big goofy smile on my face, already hoping there’s going to be a sequel. Hallows End feels like a place I’d visit every fall if I could.
Highly recommend if you're in the mood for something cozy, a little magical, and full of heart. 4.25 Stars!
Vinnie, or Lavinia as her parents like to call her, is on the hunt for a fresh start. Vinnie has very influential and rich parents who believe her life should be lived a certain way. If Vinnie were to follow that road, she would be giving up all her own hopes and dreams. She is also trying to reset herself after a recent breakup from Sebastian.
Vinnie decides to rent out a small cottage in Hallows End. This town is said to have mystical folklore and more things tend to happen around Halloween. Vinnie will be there during this magical time of the year.
Vinnie is very much enjoying her fresh start when she becomes friends with Ivy and then Amelia. Vinnie also meets Ethan and she literally runs into him. Ethan catches her attention and she finds out he is the English/Lit teacher at the local school.
The universe begins it's work by making sure Vinnie and Ethan have chances to talk and make plans. He even supports her dream to own an artist studio where she can sell her art and teach others. She also loves watching Ethan be a big brother and seeing that vulnerable side of him.
Vinnie decides to stay after her 3 week mini vacation and moves in with her new best friend Ivy. Things are really falling into place but her parents don't feel that way nor does her ex Sebastian. Life is forcing her to choose love and happiness or living someone else's dream to save face for 2 families and their companies.
Thank you so much to @bookbabespr and @authorpatriciaprior for my copy to read and review. I sure did love Vinnie and Ethan's story and I am excited to see what happens next in Hallows End!
This book was cosy, angsty & heartwarming!! Our FMC Vinnie has lived a privileged yet oppressed life. Her parents want to control her future & as it turns out so did her shitty ex boyfriend. She seeks the refuge of the quaint town of Hallows End as a brief escape from her family, her ex & the falseness of her city life. Vinnie wants to be an artist, she wasn’t to make friends & wants the freedom to be herself. The town of Hallows End is the answer to this. She dreams of making the vacation a long term stay. The town & people only further her dreams of this. The characters in this book are delightful. Vinnie meets Ethan, a chance encounter where sparks instantly fly. This relationship is not smooth sailing.
One thing though about this book though, ultimately, it’s rude! Rude to make a man as perfect as Ethan is!! This man is a saint amongst men! He’s a teacher, a family man, he loves his little sister, he’s kind & compassionate, he’s thoughtful & respectful. The whole darn package! Book boyfriend goals right there!!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review & I’m grateful for it. Even if no man will ever be as perfect as Ethan. This book was like a hallmark movie (put on after 9pm 😉) you want to snuggle up to watch on an autumnal evening in front of the fire. Bliss!!
Between then and now is book one in the Hallows end series, it is my first book by this author and I was really looking forward to it as it seemed perfect for spooky season, being likened to things such as practical magic, it's a small town romance for those that love the magical, it also has several other tropes such as opposites attract and it is a very slow burn which isn't usually my vibe but I really enjoyed this.
The story is about Vinnie who is on the run from the life that she never wanted a life of luxury, she ends up in a small town, during this time, she meets Ethan, who she falls for. but her past resurfaces and threatens her new life and love. She must confront the past to save her future. Will she be able to do this?
There was so much emotion and struggle that the fmc went through, in order to decide whether to stay on the path she's destined for due to her family, or path the way for a new future.
Loved the mmc, walking green flags 😍
It's a beautiful book perfect for this season. It was a cosy read that made me feel all the feels.
What a breath of fresh air! I'm normally a fantasy/romantasy girly but there was just *something* about this cosy small town that had my mind wandering back to it. I'd be in the middle of my day and autumnal leaves, pumpkin spice and cinnamon sticks would suddenly beckon me!
I loved the writing style, really deep diving into the emotions and thought process and I'd be *squealing* at Trish's quick wit!! LOVED the ending (iykyk) 👀❤️ but also, the writing and story helped spark creativity in myself (much like Vinnie's art I suppose?!)
Through this novel, Trish has shown me the importance of character expression, emotional arcs and dynamics between characters and I've come away from this novel feeling reinvigorated as a writer. But also, with a deep lust for Ethan and a concerning attachment to Hallow's End and all its residents 🧡
This is such a quick sweet and cozy fall read! If you love a story about finding your own way, small town romance with a hint of magic, this story is for you!
The story follows Vinnie while she heads to Hallows End to get away from the pressures placed on her from her family and a toxic previous relationship. Little did she know that she’d find some amazing friends, meet Ethan ( the most patient and lovely man ) and follow her heart to where she truly belongs!
Ivy and Amelia are such wonderful characters and I can’t wait to read more about them in the coming novels from this series!
Thank you Book Babes PR and Trish for sending me this sweet ARC 🫶🏼
🏠Small Town Romance 💔Healing from a Past Relationship ✨ A Touch of Magic 🔮Tarot Readings ☕️Coffee Spills that Lead to Romance ⏰Imperfectly Perfect Timing 💖Steamy Romance 🤍Sweet and Adorable Moments 🐶Golden Retriever MMC 🧙♀️Witchy Best Friend
Thanks to the author for this ARC copy through Book Babes PR It took me a while to get through this book, I just felt like I couldn’t connect with it the way I normally do with cozy romances. I wasn’t a fan of the FMC she seemed a little annoying and like she didn’t know what she wanted. The writing didn’t flow, there was a lot of times I had to go back and re-read because I couldn’t follow one paragraph to the next. The spicy scenes were a little lack-lustre. But I liked the storyline and the MMC was such a cute golden retriever boyfriend. The relationships with the FMCs friends and people in the town was very sweet and it was nice to see her relationship with her mother. The ex’s character was very well written, I hate that guy 😂 If you like cute cozy small town romances then give it a go.
ARC REVIEW - This story is so beautiful. The way the author pulls you into the emotions of the FMC is a testament to the strength of their writing. So descriptive and beautiful that the characters and settings really come to life.
A moment for the MMC in this book. He is the greenest of green flags and we should all strive for Ethan’s in our lives. I fell in love with him from the very first moment. It’s so refreshing to read a story with a healthy relationship and love interest. Ethan will absolutely be your new book husband.
The FMC is completely relatable, I connected with her thought processes on such a level it felt like a glimpse into a younger version of me. I couldn’t help but cheer her on.
It’s been a joy to read this as an ARC and what a debut from a promising author. I can’t wait for the next in the series 😍
For first, I want to say that this is what I call a small town romance. It has everything. A small town with people who knew eachother and everyone, nice people who welcomed Vinnie and her journey at Hallow's End.
I loved how Vinnie found herself after a huge heartbreak. This decision of moving in Hallow's End was the best idea for her, and I loved how Patricia portraited Vinnie's new life. I adored how Vinnie had a fresh start and met new people especially Nathan.
Nathan is a walking green flag, a nice guy who made Vinnie see her worth. He made her realise that new changes are the best when life is hard and their relationship was sweet. I loved how he fell first and how he didn't judge her, he was patient and kind.
Overall this is a nice cozy romance with an amazing slow burn that will make you read until you finish the book!
This book took a little while to get going but once it did, it sucked me in.
It’s a perfect book for this time of year, with its witchy, magical, Halloween vibes that have you snuggling up under a blanket with the characters. Its slow burn is definitely worth the wait.
I loved taking this journey with Vinnie as she truly embraces who she is. In letting go of her past and cutting ties with those holding her back she is able to fully immerse herself in this path to self discovery. It’s so well written that you really feel for her, you’re willing her to make the right choices and cheering her along when she does. It carries such an important message about being true to ourselves and not letting others dictate who we are or what we do.
Throwing Ethan into the mix was just what we always hope for, the sweet and flirty, local guy with a heart of gold and connections to everyone. He sees Vinnie for who she is and is the support she’s always been missing. Their connection and chemistry from the off was a small smouldering flame which only intensified as the book went on.
Hallows End is the type of place I’d love to be able to run off too! Its history and magical connections just make you want to up sticks and move! I cannot wait to see what other stories are yet to come from this quaint and cosy town.
Vinnie moves to Hallow's End for a quiet break after a messy breakup. She quickly realises that it would be the perfect place for a fresh start. She meets Ethan and falls fast, but is still haunted by her past ex, Sebastian.
This was a nice, cosy, autumnal read. I enjoyed reading about the characters in Hallow's End. The romance between Ethan and Vinnie was sweet, almost a little boring actually because he was so lovely! 😅 I liked seeing the tension when Sebastian showed up in town.
"We all need friends like that—people who remind us to be brave and take chances, even if we don’t always know where we’ll land.” “Well, I’m in. Let’s build that coven.”
This lil gem had a nice mix of new love, drama, toxic ex, sweet kid and empowering friendships. And bonus points (extra half star) for the Spotify playlist!
I did cringe a lot but fluffy rom coms aren't entirely my jam... so if you’re after a autumnal smushy love story with a hint of drama and spice, this is for you!
This book is a mixture of cozy autumn and spicy summer. He falls first✨ small town romance✨. This is such a feel good book especially for this time of year when the leaves are changing and the seasonal emotions kick in. The MMC i am obsessed with, my new fav book boyfriend! The FMC a was just so warm and I loved the depth of the characters!
Wonderful autumnal/halloween read, definitely good to get into the mood. Super slow burn with an explosive end to the work up. Small town romance, he falls first, ups and downs and twists, found family, little bit spicy towards the end. I won’t lie it took me a while to get into but once in it I was in it
This is exactly the kind of book that I love as an easy read! Addictive and steamy! It’s well written and the main characters are really likeable! I was disappointed when it ended.
Lovely emotional story! This gave me all the good small town feels and such a beautiful story of self realisation and love. This is a perfect Autumn read ,full of the Halloween spirit.
It's a very cute, easy read with a sprinkle of witchy Halloween vibes. Ethan is the perfect, walking green flag. This book offers a huge dose of self-respect and focuses on building healthy relationships.
The cutest, warmest story, that I just couldn’t put down. An absolute treat now that we are heading into Autumn and the weather is changing! I loved every second of this book, and cannot wait to read more from this author!
A beautiful and comforting read. It felt like stepping into a world full of warmth, hope, and new beginnings.
I really liked the Playlist curated for this book.
Vinnie has spent her life trapped in a world of expectations, wealth, status, and a future she never wanted. Desperate for a break, she escapes to Hallow’s End, a charming small town that seems to offer exactly what she needs: peace, space, and a chance to breathe. What she doesn’t expect is Ethan, a kind and steady presence who makes her rethink everything.
What I loved most about this book was how it captured the feeling of healing and self-discovery. Vinnie doesn’t just fall in love, she finds herself. Watching her navigate her emotions, face her past, and slowly build the life she truly wants was inspiring. Ethan is the perfect balance to her chaos.
The friendships in this book also stood out to me. The people of Hallow’s End are welcoming and genuine.
It left me smiling, and I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
For fans of Gilmore Girls, Pumpkin Spice and all things Autumn, this book is a book for you! <3
Overall: I thoroughly enjoyed my ARC read through of Between Then and Now. The cosy setting of the town of Hallow's End really brings in the magic of the story, that close-knit community is such a fun read. Every character brings something to the story and you're not overwhelmed with too many names to remember. I felt instantly transported into the small town vibe from the very first page.
Characters: Vinnie - Vinnie is such a strong female character, someone who you find yourself routing for. I love the fact we get to see both her highs and her lows and follow her as she navigates this new chapter in her life. Ethan - Can we all agree Ethan is top tier book boyfriend material? I fell in love with this fictional man from the very first interaction. He is just the human embodiment of a green flag, mixed with some golden retriever energy. Ivy- I wish I had a girl best friend like Ivy. Her constant support with Vinnie really makes her character and you can't help but love her to pieces. I loved how she brought the whimsical/witchy side to the story and it was fascinating to read about her beliefs and how Vinnie supported her, even if she doesn't believe in it herself. Amelia - The third girl in the Coven. We don't get too much about Amelia in this book so I'm really looking forward to learning more about her in the series. What we do know is she instantly accepted Vinnie into the friendship group and supported her just as much as Ivy did. Her little snippets in the group texts and just overall comments really felt like the group was complete. Lily - Lily is just adorable, that is all.
Relationships:
Vinnie x Ethan: I absolutely adore these two. I long for a relationship like there's. Of course it's not always going to be perfect but I love the fact that when things get tough, they give each other space to think it through and then come together to talk about it like adult. They bring out the best in each other. There was a quote from Ethan that really stuck with me while I was reading. "You deserve to be somewhere that inspires you, with people who make you happy" I think sometimes we need to remind ourselves of this. At least, I know I do.
Vinnie x Ivy: I LOVE a strong female friendship who do nothing but support one another and reading through this blossoming friendship was so heartwarming for me. I believe you can have friend soulmates just as much as romantic ones and for me Vinnie and Ivy are soulmates; they compliment each other amazingly.
Vinnie x Victoria: At the beginning of the book, I felt pretty indifferent about Victoria but throughout the book, there was little snippets of the kind of relationship they COULD have. Little snippets of Victoria actually trying to be a part of Vinnies life and supporting her in a way a mother should while also trying to come to terms with the her fact her daughter doesn't want to live the same lifestyle as her. I got pure Emily Gilmore vibes from Victoria and honestly, I'm here for it.
Ethan x Lily: I just want to say, I'm SO happy to have a adult/child sibling relationship for a change rather than a father/child relationship. We all know seeing a man interact with a child brings us girlies joy, but I really love the different approach to having them be siblings instead, you still get all the adorable moments and it just fit this story a hell of a lot better.
Final Thoughts:
I cannot wait to be able to purchase a physical copy of this book (and I will). This is such a good debut novel from Patricia Prior and I'm so excited to read the rest of the series (my guess is we're going to get an Ivy story next, maybe with Caleb as the love interest? ;) )
PS - Where can I find an Ethan? Asking for a friend....
