So Bad It Is Very Good!

A deeply beautiful love story with murder, obsession and pain so.bad it is good. Liam needed to be free from his A--H--- boyfriend. Free to be himself in all his quirky beauty. Free to be loved by a kinky man whose new obsession is pleasing his boyfriend. love has many faces.

I love a good serial killer love story. Maybe I'm as crazy as Liam thinks he is but this was fun. I did enjoy the mystery subplot. It was pretty easy to figure out but that didn't eliminate the joy. These guys are toxic together but it worked. That graphic ending for Daniel was perfection as well. What a wild ride!

Well, this was... a bit of a mess, actually? 🤣 I finished it and generally had fun along the way, so it does deserve at least three stars. Despite being part of this dark serial killer series, it was about as dark as a growling puppy, the brief unpleasant parts overshadowed by the fluff. But mostly I just kept getting annoyed at the "if it had only had a good edit" inconsistencies. I'm not talking typos, although those cropped up a little and also annoyed me (Zavier vs Xavier for the MC, ordering Diet Pepsi but taking a drink of his "Diet Coke"), but like...

Prologue: Zavier is a child-of-indeterminate-age-but-small-enough-Mom-hides-him-in-the-closet while the formative bit of violence in his life happens. Chapter 1 begins: "15 years later," giving me the impression he's in his twenties. Halfway through the book: he tells the love interest he's 39. Thirty-nine?!? I'm sorry, you've already started to lose me with the record scratch on trying to reset my mental image halfway through. Or...

At the beginning: some reference to growing up in foster care after his mom died and the one relative who would have him not working out. Later: waxing lyrical about all the women in his family and the food they cooked him and how he wouldn't be where he was without them. 🤨 Or...

"Her water broke but they're still waiting, you know for the baby to be fully ready." - "That's exciting. She need any help with anything?" - "Not yet. I went over there during lunch to help with the crib setup, and she said I'd go back if she needed help with the swing too." .. ...... ......... #nothowlaborworks Or...

Well, honestly, there were a bunch of those and they annoyed the shit out of me. DEFINITELY took me out of the story. But so did what felt like Zavier's just-for-the-convenience-of-the-plot continued "oh, I can see that " attitude.

And, sigh, ugh, I could go on, like with pet peeves like "why make a point of giving Zavier big scars on his face in in literally just one scene, then not have them inform his personality at all or ever reference them again?" or "you conveniently made Liam sick, kept it vague for most of the book, finally tucked in a single reference to the fact it's supposed to be MS, but didn't really treat it that way on page???" But now I'm just working myself up for no reason, so I'll move on. 🤣

When I picked up the first book I tried in this multi-author series and liked it, I somehow didn't realize it was supposed to be an entire Daddy-kink series. The second book I tried made me DNF when that aspect just appeared out of the blue with the kink shoe-horned in with absolutely no foreshadowing by the characterization up until that point, and this one... gotta admit, even though there was a plant early in the story - which also felt shoe-horned in and not in any way reflected in Zavier's character - about him going to BDSM clubs and watching what he couldn't have with the Daddies there, all the kink in this one - from to the daddy kink just felt forced and awkward, with the actual "Daddy" kink much more about simply calling each other "Daddy" and "good boy" than any real Daddy dynamic.

IDK, it just felt like a hot mess of spaghetti thrown at the wall. The mystery, so to speak, was telegraphed so hard it started to feel insulting as per the spoiler above. But I will always be sucked in by that "you and only you" romance-book adoring love, and I do so enjoy it when the love interest needs to be saved, so... despite ALL of that, it did make for a quick little bit of murdery fluff escapism that I actually had enough fun with to read through to the end. So: ⭐⭐⭐

☠️🐝🌼That's right, my pretty boy. Look my way. Keep looking my way☠️🐝🌼

"Little did I know, my dad isn't the only monster I'll have to worry about. I'll also finally realize what she meant when she said sometimes you have to take care of them yourself."

"I lean in closer, and he blushes again. And now I've found something I like making him do as much as I like getting him to smile. What else will there be?"

"Turns out I want to be taken care of. Not because someone thinks I need it, but because they want to. Because they need too."

"That's right, my pretty boy. Look my way. Keep looking my way."

"This feels so real."
"That's because it is. We're more real than anything in this world. Look at us."

"Look at me and look at you. Watch us create something together that no one can ever take. Don't stop looking."

Every book I have read from this series has been so amazing. This book was a fav of mine in this series. This author always doesn't disappoint. I love me a good cheating troupe (not between MCS) and this author did this so deliciously. This was a forbidden treat. The spice in this was chef's kiss 🔥🔥🔥🔥. The plot has me engaged and I wasn't prepared for the twists at the end. Who doesn't love and want a serial killer Daddy?

This story follows Liam and Zavier. Liam ends up saving Zavier from a car that's about to hit him. From there on out, Zavier is obsessed and intrigued with Liam. They end up meeting a few times at a diner before things progress. Liam is engaged to a cop named Daniel, who is abusive and horrible toward him. Zavier, his Daddy, gives him everything he needs and wants. What Liam doesn't know is Zavier has a thirst for bloodshed and is a serial killer. What other dark secrets is everyone hiding? Can Liam accept who Zavier really is?

Zavier, despite being a serial killer, was such a sweet and loving guy. You understand why he is the way he is from his past. He was very protective of his boy. I loved how he built Liam up and gave up his control, so Liam always had control. Liam is a sweet boy who was abused and taken advantage of. I felt so bad for what Daniel put him through. Despite his illness, he is very strong and independent. The spicy scenes were scorching hot omg 🔥🔥🔥🔥. I loved the daddy kink and other kinks in this book 🥵🥵. This couple was perfect together. My favorite part of this book was how Zavier treated Liam. He did everything for that man. Such a phenomenal book!

Here's Ashlynn Mill's "Look My Way." It's a novel in the multi-author series, Bloody Desires.

["I'm not a good person and never once have I pretended to be. I'm a monster who hunts other monsters. I make people's nightmares go away by passing them to the ones who truly deserve to experience them. I thought it was all I needed to be fulfilled—all I needed to keep going. He saved my life and I'll do whatever it takes to help him live his—even if people closest to him have to die first."]

This book was so freaking fluffy for a dark romance, and I'm here for it. Don't get me wrong, Zavier wasn't a good guy, but he was willing to give Liam anything and everything. He built his confidence back up, he build his self-control back up, he build his smiles back up. He gave Liam his life back while giving him the world. It was uplifting and supportive and beautiful.

Trigger Warnings: murder, gruesome on-page death, torture of bad guy, CNC, stalking, verbal abuse from one MC's ex, cheating (not between MCs), no safe words, consensual drugging, MS struggles, gaslighting, and more.

If you’re craving a romance that bleeds intensity and danger, Look My Way delivers a twisted, addictive ride that will leave your heart racing and your moral compass spinning.
This isn’t your average love story. Zavier is a self-proclaimed monster—one who hunts other monsters. His moral code is murky, his methods brutal, and his devotion? Absolutely feral. When Liam enters the picture, everything shifts. Their connection is raw, obsessive, and laced with a kind of dark tenderness that’s both disturbing and beautiful.
The plot is a labyrinth of deception, trauma, and emotional warfare. Just when you think you’ve figured out who’s the predator and who’s the prey, the story flips the script. Twists come hard and fast, and trust becomes a currency no one can afford. You’ll question every motive, every glance, every whispered promise. Their romance is not for the faint of heart. It’s possessive, violent, and deeply emotional

Dark and light together in one book. Ashlynn Mills has outdone herself with Liam and Zavier’s story.

This series is a bit out of my norm. I have to say, sometimes I need to break out of my normal and read something different. To me, this story is dark in how Zavier handles bad guys and stalks Liam. Zavier has his own moral compass handed down to him from his mother. It’s a lighter story if viewed through the romance lens between Liam and Zavier.
I was quite intrigued by the storyline. It took me a hot minute to realize what was going on in the Liam/Daniel and Zavier relationship. The hints and clues that Ashlynn Mills gave us never really settled into my mind until the end. I was blown away by how incredible the entire story was at the end. I find it really hard to write how much I liked something without giving away any pieces of the story. I can just say I really liked it and if you like a little mystery with your stalking, I mean romance, this is your book.

I love reading dark romances...this was plenty dark and it was OK. I really got lost after the prologue (was it even needed???)...A lot of twist and turns...some parts were predictable and some was just confusing. Zavier... a serial killer...a stalker and a carpenter. He is intensely obsessive with Liam...a ginger author with MS who is engaged to a cop. So many things happening and it just got messy...the author Ashlynn Mills gave a lot of possible triggers prior to reading so things shouldn't have been too surprising. I kept reading because I just had to know how it ended. I will say I was surprised with Liam toward the end. His attitude, contribution, and too fast acceptance (in my opinion) about the murdery aspect of Zavier life...that's that cray cray love I guess. If you like crazy dark love amped to the 10th power...this romance is for you.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Zavier lives in the shadows, punishing evil with ruthless precision. He’s never claimed to be good—only effective at turning nightmares against those who deserve them. One glance from Liam changes everything. For the first time, Zavier feels something deeper than vengeance: a need to protect, to belong, to be the one person Liam can depend on. Liam saved Zavier’s life, and now Zavier will do anything to help him live his—even if it means eliminating anyone who threatens him. Love, for Zavier, is fierce, possessive, and deadly.

I loved this dark story of violent redemption wrapped in obsessive tenderness. Daniel was evil and abusive and Zavier recognised that and determined to save Liam from that and replace it with his own brand of obsession. A lot of violence, emotions and passion in this story. I did enjoy Daniel's demise. This was an MM story with mature content.

I am used to books of Ashlynn's in 2 different directions; light and fluffy or dark and sinister... this book was a middle ground, a mixture of both...Liam is light and innocent (or so we think) and Zavier is dark and sinister, but has a good heart... lots of love yet a little demented... but in a good way.
Liam has a life he thinks is good... has a man he's engaged to, that's there for him, treats him well and loves him dearly, despite his sickness and weakness. He thinks he life is doing well in spite of his MS and a mean editor... until he meets Zavier and his whole life changes... Zavier helps bring him to the person he can be. They are their yin and yang, bringing each other to their true selves.

I thought Daniel was poisoning Liam his famous herbal tea. To play hero caretaker with an insurance policy waiting for him at the end of each tragic sick husband, taking their last names every time to "honor" them / so it's harder to track him. His true partner, Jared, following him to new precincts as they play this game on repeat, earning a town's sympathy and adoration. Daniel luring another man into marriage for the money while Jared plays the loyal best friend. But his increasing jealousy of the husbands has him starting to kill look alikes. We're watching the spiralling violent end of one relationship and another being formed. It wasn't. This was ok too tho.

That missing ñ drove me nuts!!!!

CariÑo!!!!!! And isn’t pozole with a z? Was this not supposed to be Spanish? Either way, it made me crazy!!!!!!! But, I liked the story. I kept waiting for it to turn psychological, or to find out that Zavier was a made up character from Liam’s next story. Luckily, this wasn’t that kind of book. I knew Daniel would be an issue, but I was not at all prepared for who he was. And if Daniel is older than 39, what was a 26 year old doing with him?!? I definitely feel like there were some answers that never came, but nothing detrimental to me enjoying the story. And, the guy on the cover is disturbingly attractive. So that helped.

I love a good serial killer book. What made this interesting was the connections between all the characters that was revealed in the end chapters. I loved the way Zavier was introduced to Liam, quite a meet cute. Zavier was quite a talented stalker using some tools I hadn't read about before as well as new behaviors. Even though it wasn't hard to figure some things out, there were a few subtle twists.
The reason this was only four stars for me is too many sex scenes and I felt a bit wordy. I still liked it a lot.

Liam saves Xavier from a speeding car not knowing Xavier protects people by taking out bad people. Xavier stalks Liam and realizes Liam's fiance is a bad cop, gaslighting Liam and needs to get Liam as his own. In this darker than black romance, everybody is hiding something. Xavier is a killer and obsessed with his boy Liam. Liam hides his fiance from Xavier and his dark fantasies enjoying being watched. It's creepy, erotic, has startling twists and makes you think Xavier is not so bad, until he is.

I loved that this wasn't your typical serial killer romance. Zavier mostly kills to protect others which immediately changes the dynamic, he doesn't kill for fun (well, it does end up being fun) unlike laughing boy (no spoilers) and his bezzie mate. You could say that the book was a lot of fluff, but Zavier spends most of it building Liam up and making him realise his own worth and all that has been going on, so I wouldn't say fluff, but there is a lot of gentle lovey bits. Some twists, good read, fun times.

I loved this book. The instant connection between Liam and Xavier was awesome. The tension and raising heat between these two was amazing. Liam knew that he should not want to be with Xavier as he was already committed but Xavier gave things to Liam that he needed and desired. Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down and I have already reread it 3 times since I got. This was an amazing addition to this series and I applied Ashlynn for her amazing work.

This book wasn't perfect by any means, but fictional, obsessed stalkers are the best, so of course, I enjoyed this.

Daniel was such a disgusting asshole that I didn't mind the cheating one bit. Honestly, all the sex games Zavier and Liam played were hot and naughty.

Zavier's obsession with Liam was too insta, which was a shame, but he was a great daddy to Liam. For a dark romance, their relationship was sugary sweet, if you leave out the sex.

Had promise

This book felt incredibly mundane and dull. The mystery clearly took a back seat and seems underdeveloped and forgotten about for a large portion of the book.

In the place of a compelling story we get repetitive instances of the MC making tea. Yup tea because that is sooo exciting!

This book wasn’t dark and you have to wait until 90-ish% to get a little darkness.

Having been through a traumatic childhood, Zavier has a tendency to set things right when he perceives a person has done something wrong.
His methods might be questionable but his brand of justice is his own.
When Liam innocently comes into his life, Zavier is like a moth drawn to a flame and so begins their little game of stalking and setting right what has gone wrong in Liams life.

A story with its own little sub plot, a little bit of stalking and a Daddy who lets his boy flourish as he regains his self esteem.
Be warned of the triggers in the story though.

Alot of kinks in this books: daddy\boy (no age play), somno, kidnapping, CNC, stalker, etc. Wish they could have more time to explore each one, but this was a good story and I enjoyed it! Spice was good and connection between them was hot! You need to watch the TW. It is alot.

Ashlynn is great at writing stories I can’t put down. Liam and Zavier at the perfect blend of soft and spicy. I loved Zavier’s version of sweet stalker meets protective daddy. The book has an interesting story woven within the larger tale which was interesting. I enjoyed reading it and will continue on with others in this series.
