I thought I'd never see Julian Walker again. Never came much sooner than I expected.
After killing the Hedge witches that wreaked havoc among covens for decades, I thought people were finally going to learn how to see past the physical. I thought they'd begin to trust me. I was wrong. I didn't expect things to go from bad to worse so fast, until I found Julian Walker on the floor of my office, barely even breathing.
He tells me he needs me. He tells me that I'm the only one who can stop the fairy who had destroyed the fairy realm and its Courts. Who'd killed thousands of innocent people. Who was going to come to Earth next.
Going back to the fairy realm was not something I ever thought I'd do again, but I'd been wrong about a lot of things before. And as it turns out, I'm willing to put my life on the line easily for the man that owns my heart.
Besides, I always wanted to what a real dragon looks like.
The third book in the Winter Wayne series continues the story of Winter’s growth into a powerful witch who has a little extra something in her genes (no spoilers in case you haven’t read the second one yet). Julian has returned from the Fairy Realm to ask for Winter’s help. An evil fairy has made it his mission to take over both the Fairy Realm and Earth. The fairies opposing him haven’t had much luck, but Julian thinks Winter’s special powers can do the trick. She’s not so sure.
Again I found myself rooting for this young woman as she doubts herself, but still gives it her all. I also loved the addition of a new female character, Lynn, a fifteen-year-old who’s already pretty tough on her own but wants Winter to train her. And the two sexy males from the last book are still around, thank goodness!
Best part of all? While the story in Bone Magic is complete in itself, the saga isn’t over so there will be more fun to come.
Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh Dear Lord am I ever loving D.N. Hoxa’s Winter Wayne series and now, in Bone Magic (Book 3) things just keep on ratcheting up for our poor heroine (so superbly drawn with her super enjoyable complexities, quirks and flaws). No time for setting down after finding her near dead love Julian on the floor of her office. There’s a fairy realm and Courts to save - and a deadly fairy who’d already killed thousands of innocents and needs to be stopped as Earth is next. Luckily this is Winter Wayne we are talking about and these little glitches aren’t gonna stop a witch-fairy super-combo like her. Nope, prepare yourself for an adrenaline rush as she takes on all comers in one truly fantastic performance.
Highly recommended, with the caveat that newcomers really need to start with book 1.
I’m not sure how I feel about this book. The contest between Julian and Bender for who gets Winter was stupid, especially considering that they seemed to completely forget what the actual goal was. I would hope men would be able to keep priorities straight in an important situation like that, and it seems like an insult to their intelligence when authors portray them as testosterone-filled boneheads. It still seems like the author is not completely writing the scenes. The battle at the end of the book was hard to follow because I didn’t know what was happening and where the people were. At first Winter was charging them, then she stabbed an enemy, then she was suddenly at the castle and the enemy army was defeated. I understand that the author clearly sees the battle in her head, but that doesn’t mean readers will. I feel like these books need more detail.
When Julian appears on her floor, Winter is startled. He was there to ask her help in fighting an evil Fae, one who had already destroyed faery, and who was ready to conquer the human world too. With the help of Bender and the witches, Winter is coming... (sorry, couldn’t resist 🤣).
This book gives us a little taste of a love triangle, a surprisingly efficient teenage bone witch, and lots of time with Winter lacking common sense: Act first, think later seems to be her motto, and I couldn’t help but wish she might learn a lesson or two! It’s not that Winter is a terrible heroine, it’s just that she can get annoying... fortunately the storyline is a good one, and despite Winter’s issues, she does manage to get things done. Julian appeared a little weak in this story, disappointingly enough, but Evelyn and Bender made up for it.
A great addition to the series, will certainly read further! Recommended for Urban Fantasy fans.
This book was good, she’s been healing and working a little. Then her fae princes drops in almost dead and asking for her help!
There seems to be an all powerful fae who’s been wiping out both courts and destroying the entire fae lands.
Then the man who sold our fae prince the dragon blood back in book 1 ends up dead immediately after his girlfriend came into Winters PI office asking to hire her to kick his ass for stealing from her. Then she shows up dead too!
The fae evil man gets stronger from fae magic thrown his way and apparently he was just a normal quiet man before but something recently happened that started to make him this way.
There were fights and dragons then the final showdown, and just when you think it’s all over Winter could have sworn she saw the leader of the Hedge Witches who she killed in book 2 but no one else saw her…. It probably won’t be the last that we see of her.

I love Winter. She's strong, she's snarky, and oh so humanly flawed. Even with her fairy and witch combined magic. This story captivates me from start to finish, which I did in one sitting. Except for one thing. I wish the author would stop pushing Bender at Winter. There is ZERO romantic chemistry. Don't get me wrong, I love Bender's character and would love to see him get his own story and romance, just not Winter. Now Winter and Julian?? Love them. That chemistry is smoking! Hope they get something figured out there. If you like strong female leads wrapped up in magic, humor, and sass then this is definitely a book you want to check out. But I recommend starting with books 1 and 2 first. There are a few typos and grammatical errors, but nothing that will distract from the story!
I love winter! She’s just as good in this book as she was in previous books of the series. Now that she’s got her own business, right at the moment, she doesn’t have any work to do. One of her friends asks winter to be an apprentice to his 15-year-old niece. Winter doesn’t really know what to do with a girl until she finds somebody who was murdered down the street from her office. Not only did she find a murder but she also found her last love Julian. She’s trying to get this 15-year-old to stay away while she goes off to faerie but somehow the girl finds her in fairy. Not only is she fighting in fairy but she ends up having to come back to earth and fight there. She doesn’t realize until she’s fighting for her life that other people are willing to help her besides just Julian. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Fast paced, great storyline. Each book can be read independently but get the series, you will enjoy the build-up of characters and their interactions. I enjoy books with strong woman heroine, who can kick butt, without a lot of gore.

Bone Magic, the third book of the Winter Wayne series, is an ebook I downloaded from Kindle Unlimited. This was a mighty interesting plot, but it was also frustrating -- Winter can be too impatient and the story gets drawn out with her consistent urge to get things done before she's properly prepared. While I understand this is a character trait, I sometimes want to bop her on the head and tell her things would go more quickly if she'd listen to advice.
She learns to separate her mahic and takes a butt kicking i. The process. Ironically, she learns that it doesn't matter what type of witch you are but the importance of living in harmony with things that are around you. Oh, but that one chic. I wouldn't toss her no further than a lakes width. Frankly, I probably would have been happy if she was a part of the scandal and gor her aasets handed to her. Beggers can only be wishers.

I made it through the first two books skimming and hoping for improvement. No such luck. Written with the occasional poor understanding of English word definitions, the mc acts erratic, irrational, and stupidly, and then somehow kicks ass and wins for no reason.
So sue me for a corny subject. This book is too good. Really a wonderful read. Winter has a new unusual unkillable adversary. Lynn is her wanna be side kick. Julian....what’s his Status as he reappears? Ah, and Bender. What’s up with him?
Good story two dimensions. New interesting and a great read
I received this book asan ARC but am voluntarily reviewing. This was way more fun then the last stories two I read, out of this box set. Half of the community came out together by helping winter get rid of Galladar the fairy. I am hoping for a little bit more action from Bender, Lynn and winter Wayne.
Best to start the series from book #1. Minimal romance. Maximum action. Very few grammatical errors. Each book in the series won’t leave you hanging, but definitely has room for more... and you’re going to want more.
This was a great book that I had a hard time putting down. Winter just keeps getting dumped on for real and it's not getting easier. Earth and fairy collide and it's an explosion of drama and action.
I enjoyed reading the story. I enjoyed the different world building between the "real" world and fairy world. I really like the thing with the dragons I can't wait to see if that leads to something in the future.
I'm giving this book a to it had a plot. It had a storyline. But it was boring I did finish it. But I found the heroes of the book to be wimps. I don't think I will finish the series I'm just not into it.
If things couldn't get more complicated for Winter, which is a Bone witch and a Fairy. When a Fairy tries to take control of the fairy realm and Earth, Winter has to do everything in her power. It's a thrilling adventure.

I'm now on book 5 and though it's not my favourite I would recommend it. I would like it to have more banter/jokeing and romance but other than that it’s good. For someone who doesn't want romance and smut I would highly recommend.
