Rejecting her should’ve broken the bond. Instead, it broke me. My wolf knew she was mine from the start—Sable, the woman who moves like smoke and lies like it’s her first language. She’s the key to finding my lost brothers… and the curse that’s killing us all.
But when I saw what she truly was, I did what any sane wolf would do. I rejected her.
I told myself it was to protect my pack. To break the bond before it broke me. But fate doesn’t take rejection lightly.
Now the curse is waking, vampires are circling, and every trail leads back to her—the hybrid woman I turned away, the only one who might be able to save us.
I tried to break our bond once. Now it’s the only thing keeping us alive. Because fate doesn’t care who runs— only who survives the hunt.

In The Fated Hunter Wolf, you'll find: 🐺 A hot-headed, protective wolf shifter 🌙 A mysterious woman with secrets in her eyes 💔 A forbidden bond that burns like fire ⚔️ Enemies turned reluctant allies 🔮 Ancient curses & impossible choices 🔥 “If you run, I will hunt you.” 🛡️ “Then you’d better catch me.”
The Fated Hunter Wolf is the scorching second book in the Shadow Moon Shifters series—a tale of vengeance, obsession, and the fated bond neither of them can escape. Warning... there are cliffhangers in this series, but never fear! They will all get nicely tied up as the series goes on...
Harley Hunt has always had a soft spot for dark forests, full moons, and heroes with a hint of danger. When not dreaming up steamy paranormal worlds, Harley can be found sipping wine during sunset, savoring French cheese, and spoiling a very sweet Golden Retriever (definitely not a werewolf).
Harley’s first book, The Cursed Wolf King, kicks off a gripping wolf-shifter romance series—a tale of forbidden love, fierce loyalty, and the kind of passion that bites back.
second book in the series and i liked the fantasy and plot waaay better in this one!!! i loved all the different elements but sometimes there were maybe "too" many to keep track of everything but i know some parts will become more clear in the 3rd book!!!
3.5 ⭐️ I enjoyed this follow up more than the first book, but it still wasn’t without its issues. Spoilers below so be warned.
Let’s get into what worked - the characters: I genuinely liked both Sable and Rhys. Both a bit damaged, very guarded, fierce in their own ways, and soft with each other (eventually). They were easy to root for. The side characters were a little lacking, we see more of Eve and Logan, and I enjoyed Astrid’s addition but honestly wanted a bit more about her.
- the romance: the chemistry was there from the first scene, and the push/pull made for an intoxicating read. It led the story for me, creating a dynamic I was determined to see through. That angst and tension were delicious, and the need to see these two stubborn MCs admit their feelings was strong.
- the pacing: this was so fast paced it barely stopped once. It made it a page turner, and it was difficult to put down as there were many decent rest points. I read it quickly and easily and wanted to know what happened next.
What didn’t work for me: - the plot and world: as in book 1, too much was going on with very little follow through. The sheer amount of things happening was taxing, and the quantity meant very few issues were fleshed out and given the space they deserved. Sable’s power to read souls was interesting and the whole reason she didn’t want the bond with Rhys, yet we learn very little about it. It’s only discussed once more with Rhys that what she read of him changed, and so we’re guessing that the curse is shrouding his soul? I’m not still unclear but that what I think. The vampires? An important part as it’s half Sable’s identity, but get very little about her lineage. There’s a bit more meat on this topic but I still left feeling I needed more. The brothers… we don’t get much more than book 1. Sable pushes an image to Rhys of them chained and drained, and she apparently “met” them at an auction a while back and their souls were black, but they never try to figure out how to save them. Then the epilogue… major spoiler coming…. I guess they’ve been living normal lives but without their memories? Where and when were they chained up? How did they get free?
This leads me to my biggest issue - plot inconsistency and contradictions. So many in this book. I can’t remember them all but so much was going on that it took me out of the story. The brothers’ fates being a glaring one that may or may not get answered in the next book. Stable knows nothing about her vampire side, admits she’s never drank from anyone, but then has an abundance of information to tell Rhys about the bond. Rhys’s supernatural withdrawal just… went away? No explanation. Their bond didn’t make a ton of sense… they could communicate through it before they completed it, even after the rejection. So many other things that weren’t explained, were glossed over, or completely ignored. I had the same issue in book 1. So much going on with little follow through or execution, and the reader being left with more questions.
In this one she seemed content to blame everything on the “supernatural”. Magic conveniently accounted for everything, to the point it stopped making a ton of sense. Sable is apparently an all powerful being. We’ve apparently is too now. They can all communicate through all their different bonds. They can make the temperature in rooms drop with their feelings. Sable can use some sort of vampire sonar to search vast spaces, and gathers intel like a group of SEALS. It was all a bit much. She can mask scents. She can throw silver dust with her ring, which was never really explained, but just one more amazing tool. Nothing was really worked for because supernatural magic solved everything.
A highlight though? They actually had a conversation about how Rhys rejecting Sable and how it hurt her, and not just moved on like it didn’t matter. I loved that. (Though again, it was treated like he was cruel, and it was but she wanted him to reject her and egged him on, so it was another sort of weird contradiction). Still, so nice to see that convo happen.
A fast paced read, if you like shifters, fated mates, (too) fierce heroines, broody sarcastic heroes, and have the ability to suspend all sense of reality, then this may be for you.
Rejecting Sable should’ve broken the bond. Instead, its broke Rhys. His wolf knew she was his from the start—Sable, the woman who moves like smoke and lies like it’s her first language. She’s the key to finding his lost brothers… and the curse that’s killing us all.
But when he saw what she truly was, Rhys did what any sane wolf would do.
He rejected her.
He told himself it was to protect his pack. To break the bond before it broke him.
But fate doesn’t take rejection lightly.
Now the curse is waking, vampires are circling, and every trail leads back to her—the hybrid woman Rhys turned away, the only one who might be able to save us.
He tried to break their bond once.
Now it’s the only thing keeping us alive.
Because fate doesn’t care who runs—

Tropes: Protective Wolf Shifter, Forbidden Bond, Mysterious Woman, Secrets, Enemies to Allies, Ancient Curses, Impossible Choices, “If you run, I will hunt you.”, “Then you’d better catch me.”, Moon Shifters, Vengeance, Obsession, Fated Bond, Cliffhanger,
The Fated Hunter Wolf is the 2nd book in the Shadow Moon Shifters Series by Harley Hunt.
I love this genre, ever since I found the shifter genre, I fell in love with it and man, Harley Hunt has given me a great book in a stunning series. The Fated Hunter Wolf is a powerful book.
One of the great things that Harley does is how her characters intertwine and yet they are separate at the same time. Sable’s character was so beautifully written, I could see her as being my sister or even my best friend. And yet at the same time, she has her own mission that she’s dead set on completing.
Rhys our powerful wolf-shifter makes the choice to reject his fated mate Sable. But fate seems to be a fickle thing and it has other plans. Sable is elusive herself and she’s holding secrets of her own and those secrets seem to tie into this curse that’s ravaging Rhys’s brothers and their pack. Rhys isn’t the hero that he might seem to be at first and that could cost him everything in the end.
I just loved the dynamic between Rhys and Sable; you can’t help but fall in love with them and be enthralled by their story. Their push and pull keeps their relationship so fresh and engaging.
I can promise you that if you love wolf-shifters, romance, and dominant alpha males, fated mate trope, dark forests, along with danger lurking around every full moon then this is the book and series that you have been waiting for.
I love this series so far, it's got a really complex overarching plot, above the individual love stories, that's driving it and makes you hungry for more!😂😍😍 I didn't like the internal conflict in this one- I don't like it when the mmc and fmc are at odds, but thankfully that was short. I liked the characters and the book was exciting, lots of stuff going on, rather than just boy gets girl, lol, and the author is REALLY good! I think maybe someone needed to edit this better, especially at the end, it's like there were 2 different scenes written for the final love scene and they both got accidentally added, which was weird!😂 She ripped his shirt off and he ripped hers, then all of a sudden they were on the bed and he undressed them both, then they were NOT on the bed and they started undressing each other ... has to be 2 different versions that just got accidentally added, but it needs to be fixed, so I'm hoping the author sees this😍 I also didn't like that conversation they had right before the bonding- it was completely unnecessary and killed the mood. He's groveling about rejecting her, but she practically FORCED him to do it by the awful lies she told! And she did that so he WOULD reject her! So where was HER apology in that scene!!? Yeah, I didn't like that at all! But overall, it was a good book, and I definitely want to find out what happens next! Hopefully I don't have to wait a year, like another series I'm reading- I read so many books that I forget where we're at sometimes when they wait that long for the next book, lol😂😍
When I received this arc, let me just say I dropped everything to read it and man did I devour this book in one go! The Fated Hunter Wolf is the second instalment in the Shadow Moon Shifters series. In it, powerful wolf-shifter hero, Rhys, rejects the Sable who’s bound to him. But fate has other plans. Sable, is elusive, holding secrets that tie into a curse ravaging his brothers and their pack. The dynamic between the two is absolutely addictive! The push-and-pull keeps the relationship engaging! This book is absolutely for fans of wolf-shifter romance with dominance, fated-mate tropes, dark forests and danger lurking in every full moon, this delivers.
The Fated Hunter Wolf is book two of the Shadow Moon Shifters series and another steamy wolf shifter paranormal. Leads Rhys and Sable’s story plays out against a backdrop of a rejected fated bond, enemies, curses, danger, action, secrets, emotion, and passion. Well written and entertaining the story was fast paced, adventure filled and leads down a path of twists and turns that will leave a heart pounding. A dynamite of a read!.

This is the second book, and I can't get enough of this world. I love how the characters are intertwined and separate at the same time. Sable was done so beautifully that you can see her as your best friend or sister. She has her own mission to complete. Rhys is not the night in shining armor, and he makes mistakes that cost him almost everything. I don't think I will ever get enough of this world and can't wait for the next book.
Rhys was chasing a woman through the forest Sable is her name he wants to know why she knew about his missing brothers Rhys wanted to claim her and kill her. Sable was running from Rhys she has been feeling a pull towards him for awhile but she has more important things to deal with. There is so much more going on in this fantastic and entertaining story I loved it and the characters and I highly recommend reading this book.
Just as good as the first book! We get a little bit more information about the Orion curse. Sable and Rhys hold a piece of the puzzle and we get experience more of the seedy underbelly of the Council (and a peek at vampires). I’ve been salivating for information about the twins so I can’t wait for Wyatt’s story. 5 stars for Sable and Rhys.

This second book continues the story of the Orion curse and the mystery of the Crux wolves. With Rhys and Sable as the main characters, the story pulses with angst and secrets kept between them. This book has plenty of action, plot twists and the pull of mates with characters that are easy to connect too. I received an arc for an honest review. With shifters and a dash of vampires, this was a fun read.
The curse continues to be unraveled in the next book of the series. This time it is Rhys and Sable who is full of secrets. The story is still pretty fast paced like the previous one. The plot continues on to the next book.

This is a great series. I absolutely love Sable & I didn't think I'd say that while reading book 1... But, how on earth am I going to wait another year for book #3? I'll have read another 150 books by then... 😆
A curse, rejected mates, and of course things go sideways. But get a fun and entertaining read as these two deal with things. Some secrets and surprises kept things interesting
