All my life I never knew the true definition of safety. I never knew what it was like to feel protected from those who lurked in the shadows.
I spent a lifetime building walls and fighting daily to survive. That is, until Aries bulldozed his way into my life, took me back to his palace, and trapped me behind the safety of the walls.
He was always there. Always hovering. Reminding me not to step out of line or get myself killed.
But the day he disappeared, something changed inside me. Gone was the resentment and in its place was the dire need to save him…just like he did me.
He is no longer the person I once knew. I want to help him. No, I need to help him. Even if it costs me my life. He saved me once and I will do anything to return the favor.
Aries
My life runs like a wheel-oiled machine. Rescue those who can’t save themselves. Take care of my family. Repeat.
That was until the day my world stopped. I was no longer the brave soul running to save an innocent life. In turn, it was me who needed saving.
I fell into a dark twisted web as the months dragged on, but on the day when I had lost all hope, my rescuer came in the form of someone I least expected.
Taylor came into my life like a wrecking ball, dismantling and destroying everything I worked for. I know I need to push her away, but selfishly, on the nights of total darkness, she is the one I run to.
My mind wants vengeance, but my heart wants to keep her tucked away safe. Both of which could send me into a spiral of complete and utter destruction.
Dismantle & Prevail is a standalone novel. You may see characters mentioned from other series as the characters in this novel are part of an organization called Resilience. This book is an age gap, MF, MC, dark, mental health rep, tattooed FMC/MMC, anything for him, suspense romance. Please check trigger warnings before diving in as this book may not be suitable for some readers.
I was not ready for the emotional roller coaster that this book took me on! From the beginning it had me hooked and I did not want to put it down! So worth the read!
Dismantle & Prevail was an emotionally heavy, suspenseful romance that completely pulled me in from the start. The story blends trauma, healing, danger, and devotion in a way that feels intense without losing the emotional connection at the center of it all. What stood out most for me was the relationship dynamic between Taylor and Aries. At first, Aries is the protector in every sense of the word. He’s constantly watching over Taylor, trying to keep her safe, and carrying the burden of protecting everyone around him. But once the balance shifts and Aries becomes the one struggling, the emotional depth of the story really takes off. Taylor was such a strong FMC. Not because she was fearless, but because she kept fighting despite everything she had been through. Her determination to save Aries the same way he once saved her made their relationship feel incredibly emotional and layered. The devotion between them felt desperate, messy, and genuine in a way that made the romance hit even harder. Aries was equally compelling because beneath all the control and protective instincts, he’s deeply damaged and exhausted. Watching him unravel emotionally while still trying to hold everything together added so much weight to the story. His internal battle between vengeance, guilt, and love made him feel very human despite the darker themes surrounding the book. The suspense elements and Resilience organization backdrop added tension throughout, but the emotional vulnerability between the characters remained the strongest part for me. This is definitely a darker romance with heavy themes, so checking trigger warnings is important, but if you enjoy emotionally intense stories with protective MMCs, mental health representation, and deeply devoted relationships, this one delivers. Overall, this was gritty, emotional, and full of aching love and survival.
J Laine just knows how to hit it out of the park. Every book of hers I have read has broken me, and put me back together.
Dismantle & Prevail is no different.
Her books make me think about the important things in life and really check in with myself.
Her MFC’s are always strong and kick ass. Taylor fits right in, she is fierce and her humour is sharp. Taylor has had a rough life. To say the very least and the person she has worked so hard to become, is awe inspiring.
Aries, is hard and soft but only for those he cares about. He is stubborn and fights for what he believes in and loves so hard. Ugh plus he is H O T, so that helps 🫠
I really enjoyed the story line. There are some definite twists and turns. Be prepared to have some watery eyes, like I said this book destroyed me just a little. I would absolutely recommend it.
Favourite quotes-
“When you have waited for what feels like an eternity for the person who feels like the glue to your broken soul to finally notice you and she gives you a tiny drop of attention, everyday feels like forever.”
“Don’t you understand I am completely consumed and captivated by you? You are the color to my dark, lonely world. Without you, my life is black and white and utterly dismal.”
this book WRECKED me in the best possible way. it tore my heart to shreds and then pieced it back together. i literally couldn’t put it down lol. i was so captivated by the storyline, the characters, and just everything about it. i loved the cameos from our other beloved characters too! this book had a great amount of mystery to it because things really aren’t what they seem throughout. i felt like i was on alert the whole time because i kept trying to guess what was going to happen next LOL. i love how deep, emotional & vulnerable our main characters get with each other. as always, the mental health representation in this story is so well done and so important. stories like these remain in my heart forever.
The book hooked me right away and did not disappoint as it progressed. This book had everything and more heartbreak, found family, action, vengeance, spicy scenes, strong FMC and lovable MMC. Even though it was a MC club I love how serious mental health was taken. Thank you Twisted Chaos for this ARC of Dismantle & Prevail a Resilience novel!
Ma’am this book was so much more than I expected! Aries and Taylor were everything I was hoping for. I love that we get to see other teams and sides. This book will have you feeling everything!
Aries AND Taylor 😍🤭😘💕 Screaming from the rooftops for these two.
I loved both of the characters in this story. Like let me be a third, please? Their banter goes so hard. I especially love that Taylor tests Aries’ boundaries and he’s so obsessed with her, that she usually gets her way. The way they love each other is so beautiful. Each other’s safe space amongst the chaos of a vigilante motorcycle club who is wracking up enemy after enemy. It’s so good.
I love that this is a spin off series of the Fated to You series and we are now getting to see how other teams function and run their sector. Such a good idea and way to capitalize off one of my favorite aspects of the Fated to You world. Please note: you don’t have to read Fated to You to pick up this book.
The plot was so intriguing and there were multiple moments where my heart was racing and I had no idea what was going to happen next. In typical J. Laine fashion, there is an emotional depth to the entire story that runs throughout. Be sure to check your trigger warnings.
I loved it and can’t wait to see what’s next from J.
Ok this book blew my ever lovin mind!!! This was my first read by this author and it won’t be my last! Taylor and Aries story tore my heart up before putting it back together I laughed because come on Taylor’s sass and her banter was hilarious and I cried because these two went through it I swooned because come on Aries was so sweet to Taylor . This is definitely a story I recommend! Definitely will be reading this author’s back list.
All Taylor's life, she's never really known what the true definition of safety really was. She's never known what it was like to be safe and protected from those who lurked in the shadows watching her and waiting.
She's spent her entire life building up her own walls and fighting every day to survive. At least, that is, until Aries pushed his way into her life and changed everything. He took her back to his place, keeping her ensnared behind the safety of the walls of his home.
Aries is always there. He's always hovering around every corner. He keeps reminding her that she can't step out of “line” or that she's going to get herself killed.
The suddenly one day Taylor discovers that he's gone, that Aries has disappeared, and in that moment, something in her flips like a switch turning on and something deep inside her changes. She no longer holds onto the resentment she once had for Aries. Now, in its place, is this deep and desperate need to go and save him... just like he saved her.
Aries is not the person she once knew. Now Taylor wants to help him, no, she has this burning need to help him. Even at the cost of her own life. Aries saved her once, and she'll do anything it takes to do the same for him.
Aries life has always run like a well-oiled machine. He's always rescuing those who he sees can't or are struggling to rescue themselves. Then, he takes care of his family and makes sure they are all safe and well taken care of. And he just keeps repeating that pattern.
That is till everything changes and Aries world suddenly comes crashing down and competently stops turning all together. Aries is no longer the strong, brave man running into whatever danger lurks ahead to save the innocent. Suddenly, it's Aries who is the one needing saving, and he's not sure there's anyone who can save him.
As the months pass Aries falls deeper and deeper into the dark and twisted web, then just when he thinks all hope is lost and no one is coming to save him, suddenly his rescuer comes racing in to save him, and it's the last person he ever thought would come to save him.
Like a tornado destroying everything, Taylor came into his life and started to dismantle and destroy everything Aries had ever worked to build. He knows that he should have pushed her away, kept her at arms length, and did not let her get too close. But, Aries is still human, and he's selfish at times, and in the total darkness of night, Taylor is the one that he ran to.
Aries mind is set on vengeance, but his heart has other things it wants, like keeping Taylor safe in his home. But Aries knows that both things could send him spiraling into his own complete and utter destruction.
Dismantle & Prevail is a standalone novel. You may see other characters mentioned from other series as the characters from this novel are part of an organization called Resilience. This book is an age gap, MF, MC, dark mental health rep, tattooed FMC/MMC, anything for him, suspense romance.
YOU'RE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!! Please read the trigger warnings before you start reading this book. Some subject matter may be triggering to some readers, and your mental health is always the most important thing. Do not risk your mental health for the sake of reading a book. Always check the trigger warnings.
J. Laine, I love her writing. Any time I have the chance to pick up one of her books, I don't hesitate, and I will put down what I am currently reading to dive into her book. She has this magic way of just drawing you into the story and keeping you entertained and enthralled with what she has written until the very end, and you are left wanting more and more. And I can honestly say that Dismantle & Prevail was no different. I want so much more of this world and these characters, and I can't wait to read more of this series.
I absolutely love Aries and Taylor together. They bring out the best in each other, and I love how Aries helps bring out the courage and strength that Taylor has always had in her. She just didn't know or realize it was there. The banter that they had was so amazing, and each one gives just as good as they get.
And I love that Taylor just doesn't sit and take Aries bs. I love how she pushes back and will not just let Aries tell her what to do and get away with it. And Aries, well, he's just overly obsessed with her, and honestly, I think that he doesn't realize half the time that when Taylor is pushing his boundaries, he's actually just giving in to her.
The most beautiful thing, though, is the way they love each other. Aries and Taylor both know that the other is their safe place, and the other has their back no matter what. Even in the chaos and confusion that surrounds them, they know the other is always going to be there, the other will protect and love them, and they know that's never going to change. Even when a vigilante motorcycle club is recking havoc and messing with enemy after enemy.
I love how interconnected this series is with the Fated to You Series, and we have the chance to see how the other teams work and how their sector's are run. And I absolutely love that you don't have to have read the Fated to You series to understand this series, I just love the interconnectedness of the two series and how one works off the other and we get to see more in-depth workings of the world and how other sectors work.
The plot of this book was so well developed, and you could tell that its development wasn't rushed. There was time taken to make sure all the elements and plot points and sub-plots worked together and blended perfectly. I found this book to be not only enthralling but also intriguing and I can honestly say that it got my heart racing at moments when I didn't know what was going to happen next or who was going to do what.
I love how J. Laine never fails to ensure that there is a sincere and honest emotional depth to her stories and the plots and that the emotion runs through the entire story.
I can say without a doubt that this was a fantastic read, and I would recommend this book to anyone who asks. I can't wait to see what J. Laine puts out next, and this is one book that I will soon be seeing on my own trophy shelf.
i had the absolute honor of beta reading this and y’all are not ready for aries and taylor’s story!!!
adding in my review now that this is out into the world!
this book was amazing and i loved every minute of aries and taylor’s story. the growth they both had throughout the book was astounding. the struggles they both faced and got through were inspiring. j did an amazing job with this book and i loved that the hayes men ended up popping up quite a few times and we got to get more of them! definitely recommend this book, it was seriously so freaking good!
J. Laine does it again, and honestly, I am not even surprised! Her books are beautifully written and will have your heart ripped out and then slowly pieced back together. (Pro tip: Always make sure you have tissues handy)
Aries and Taylor are both carrying the weight of tragic pasts, but their strength, resiliency, and determination is truly admirable. When life throws another tragic event his way, Aries realizes life is too short not to tell people how he feels. And when this man loves, he loves. His affection, deep love and protectiveness for Taylor was just heart melting.
Taylor is also a complete badass, and loyal to the core, even if it could cost her everything. Despite her past, she has this spunk, confidence and compassionate side to her that you couldn’t help but love. And the way she is willing to walk into a war without hesitation… my new favorite badass. Hands down.
These two tore me apart in the best way. I absolutely love how they started off as friends, with the banter and deep chemistry they tried to keep hidden. It was only a matter of time before it became undeniable - these two were absolutely made for each other and they were the ones meant to help heal one another.
This book will have you fully sucked in with its perfect pace and gripping plot. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen. Bam. There she is with a twist that has my heart racing and jaw on the floor. You will be on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but I promise it is worth it!
I may not be an expert at relationships, but I know for certain that you have to go through the darkest of days to see if you can be there for each other on the brightest of days.
This book does cover sensitive topics, so be sure to check those TW! 🫶
Here’s my (probably disjointed) review: Taylor and Aries are fighters. They fight for themselves, each other, and those that cannot for themselves. J. writes depth into her characters that make them seem like you could call them up. Because of the nature of T&A’s story, you must read the trigger warnings available at the beginning of the book or on J.’s website. The characters experience significant trauma. This is a dark romance. I quite enjoyed it. I felt things were handled with sensitivity which as we’ve seen with other authors doesn’t always happen. I’ve experienced my own trauma. J.’s books are based around healing the trauma of the characters. It’s relatable. It’s graphic. It’s realistic. It’s tears and punching things and screaming into pillows. It’s nightmares. It’s going through the grief cycle over and over and over again. Dismantle & Prevail tugs at your heart strings. The suspense aspect of the book has twists you will never see. JUST WAIT! I had to keep reminding myself to BE PATIENT. The twist hit me like when we get hit with the news that Jace and Clary were siblings (Mortal Instruments series) and then they weren’t. High emotions. J. is very good about adding foreshadowing AND throwing red herrings in your path. Overall, I think that you should read this. It might make you cry. It might make you want to throw your kindle (book, computer, kobo, etc.) Taylor and Aries will own your heart as you experience their heart ache, their lust, and their fight to free themselves from their demons.
Dismantle & Prevail honestly had me emotional from start to finish.
This book felt so raw and real. It wasn’t just romance. It was about surviving the things that try to destroy you, learning how to trust again, and finding people who finally make you feel safe.
Taylor’s story hit hard. You could feel how guarded and broken she was right from the beginning, and after everything she’d been through, it completely made sense. Watching her slowly let those walls down and realise she deserved love, protection, and happiness was such an emotional journey.
And Aries. He was intense, protective, possessive, and completely devoted to her. Their relationship was messy, passionate, healing, and chaotic all at once. The chemistry between them was insane and I was hooked the entire time.
I also loved that this book didn’t avoid the darker parts of trauma and mental health. It felt honest without losing that addictive dark romance feel. Add in the motorcycle club vibes, the tension, the revenge, and the age gap dynamic and I was fully invested.
The spice was so good, the found family moments genuinely got me emotional, and the character growth throughout the story was beautiful to watch.
If you love dark romance with damaged but strong characters, protective men who would burn the world down for the woman they love, and stories that hurt before they heal, definitely pick this one up.
Dismantle and Prevail is an age gap, dark themed romance with mental health representations and is the story of Aries and Taylor. This book has some dark themes an sensitive subjects that may be triggering for some readers so please read your trigger warnings.
Taylor was rescued by Aries and his team and brought into the fold of their organization to further help those like Taylor. What Ari never expected was to fall for Taylor and be faced with trying to keep her safe and allowing her to do her job. When Aries is taken and spends months in captivity, it is Taylor who rescues him and neither is the same. As Aries past comes back to haunt him, he and his team must come together to rescue one of their own. The future Aries and Taylor saw for themselves looks different now but two damaged souls can be there for each other going forward.
This book is so well written with a lot of tough subjects that are fasntastically represented in a way that shows the characters growth through their trauma and getting help to overcome the experiences they have been through. This is a slow burn romance with banter, a cast of great characters, touching moments, suspense and danger. I really liked this book and recommend it to lovers of dark(ish) roamnce that enjoys some heavy subjects where the main characters get their well deserved HEA.
J. Laine, you definitely did a great job with this book! It kept me on my toes the entire time, I was not disappointed at all in the constant craziness and love happening. Each turn of event, promise, thought, and emotion was all displayed perfectly. I enjoyed Tucker wayyy to much haha he is so happy it was making me laugh at his character’s performances and inputs. Dismantle & Prevail delivers a perfect balance of raw vulnerability, fierce determination, and beautifully crafted character growth. Every chapter pulls you deeper into the characters’ struggles and triumphs, making it impossible to stop reading. In addition, just wait for the plot twist and amazing, heartwarming ending to come! Absolutely a great standalone to add to your list and consume your time with getting to know more about The Resilience!
Favorite quotes:
“You said to come find you if I needed you. And I did. I’ve needed you like I need oxygen for years.” Aries
“The definition of love is different for everyone. But to me, it is simple. When you love someone, you vow to protect that person with every part of your being and trust that they will do the same for you. To me, love isn’t some big, cheesy romantic gesture. It's proving that you can be there for the other person when they need you the most.” Aries
ARC Reader I have never actually heard of the Resilience series before finding this novel. Though after reading this, it makes me want to read every bit of the series I can get my hands on. When this is a Resilience novel , knowledge of the world is not needed. Yes there are cameos , but it doesn't take away from the experience if you have not read any of the works prior. This was stated in an author's note, and I can confirm this to be fact. Now-- will it make you want to continue to read and learn more about it. Oh very much so. I got Haunting Adeline vibes from it, except it was a bit different and more tame in the smut aspect. There was spicy scenes, and Taylor and Aries could be like bunnies. Though it was tamer. I completely ate up this book. When I did have to put it down a few times (not due to triggers just due to having to remember basic needs), I craved to read more. Do know triggers-- as is true with any type of dark romance type book. Mental health is important. I love everything about this. Taylor is a sassy little thing, and I'm completely there for it. The book was a complete ride complete with plenty of twists, turns, and angsty goodness. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this book and this author.
Dismantle & Prevail was such an accurate title for this great story. Guys, it touches on some sensitive topics—please check the trigger warnings. Aries is a man out in the world trying to right as many wrongs as he can. As part of a team that helps those in need, he truly delivers. He’s the MC president and leader of his team—tattoos, protective vibes, and a “we’ll do this at your pace” energy. He sees a woman’s worth. Taylor is a badass who has been through so much and has learned to rely only on herself after all the pain she’s experienced. She’s tough and determined not to be a victim. She’s out to prove she’s a valuable team member. And the twists and turns? They delivered. I want to spill the tea, but I won’t spoil it for you. Just know I had a few “WTF—someone needs to get thrown off a bridge or a building” moments. 😂 This story had a great balance of action, character development, and spice—it was all on point. There’s kidnapping, trauma, betrayal, and so much more that was added into this read! This was my first read from this author, and it was such a fantastic experience! Definitely recommend grabbing this book—or at the very least, add it to your TBR!
“She is standing here wrapped in my arms, her lips on mine, and I feel as if the damn sun has shined for the first time in months. Hell, more like years.”
Aries and Taylor were the exact opposite of what I thought they were going to be, in the best possible way. For some odd reason I got it in my head that they would have an enemies-to-lovers story and that is definitely not what they are. I was surprised at so many corners of who these characters are,
Both have back stories that I was not expecting and yet makes sense for who they are today. Heartbreaking is the only way I can describe what set them on the path to each other. They have this connection that inevitably was going to lead to them falling in love.
What I loved the most about this is the way that J. builds the relationship between them. Aries being the one with the secret crush had me addicted to this story because I had to see how. Taylor was going to take it. She is one tough FMC and completely oblivious to what has been right in front of her. Her walls are hard to crack and the determination of Aries was fun to read.
I will say as I was reading this I felt Ms. Laine was giving her readers a break after her last book. Sure it is dark with trauma but I felt it was a tad “lighter” within the dark, if that makes sense. Than that plot twist was thrown in ( a thought I had a couple times throughout the story) and she proved why I love her writing so much….because. Even within the dark she can give an HEA that will warm your heart so much. I am very much looking forward to more from these characters.
J. Laine does it again. Dismantle & Prevail is what I would consider to be a stand alone so it is not needed to read the Fated to You series she has; however, I do feel everyone needs to read it. ;)
Butterfly, Hellhound, the nicknames were GIVING me life. It was probably because of who was using them. Aries is his own type of Hell on wheels, two of them to be exact and we all love a good MC type of man. I digress. Aries is a man who has lost everything to get to where he is and to find the love that he does within his own Hellhound.
Taylor is a woman who has been used, abused, and all of the things you can think of throughout her lifetime. She finds a home and a love that just feels like second nature with Aries. And she herself will go to the depths of hell or death itself to ensure that Aries lives the life he DESERVES to live with those he loves.
Dismantle and Prevail is a short and quick read that gives:
💜Age Gap 🦋Motorcycle Club 💜Tattooed Hero/Heroine 🦋Mental Health Rep 💜Vigilante Shit 🦋Always Been Her 💜Anything for Him 🦋Black Cat/MC Prez 💜Dark Romance
This book follows Taylor and Aries. Taylor is a former victim of human trafficking and is rescued by Braveheart, a mercenary organization. Aries is the president of Braveheart and a former assassin. He is a very protective loyal leader and he takes Taylor under her wing to find her a place within the Braveheart organization. When Aries disappears without a trace, Taylor is confronted with her growing feelings towards Aries, but also with her past, while trying to save him. The book is packed with action and that kept me engaged. I enjoyed the writing style of the author. Due to the pace of the book and the engagement of the action packed scenes I flew true the book. Our FMC and MMC are both great characters. I love hoe Taylor uses her own trauma to help others. Aries is very protective by nature. His protectiveness only grows when the feelings grow. I'm happy that he did start to listen to Taylor and therefor not overcompensates with his protectiveness. As for the story, I would loved to have a couple more emotional moments in the book, for example about Taylor her past. We get a gimps into Taylor her past and it invites for more. Same goes for the child of Aries. I would have loved a more inept insight into that conflict. Al with all, this was an enjoyable read.
Ari and Tay! You will live rent free inside my head forever. This storyline absolutely captivated me and pulled me in from the very beginning. There were ups and downs and twists and turns that had me at the edge of my seat for most of the book.
J. has such a way with her character development and the world that she has built, that it truly feels like you are a part of the story from the very first word. This book will send you on an emotional roller coaster in the best way possible.
This book definitely has a darker side to it then J.'s other books but the way she presents the dark elements is truly beautiful. There are some deep subjects mentioned throughout the book, but I love the way each trial or struggle helps shape each character. This book deserves way more than 5 stars. I'm so grateful to J. for bringing us Ari and his butterfly. I cannot wait to see the way the rest of this series develops.
"Until my last dying breath and into the next lifetime? Until the next lifetime and far beyond."
This story of Aries and Taylor was amazing and heart breaking at the same time. The work that Team Braveheart does is heart wrenching and inspiring. The work Aries' team does, is what brought Taylor into his life to begin with. Taylor was a hacker and stole money from Aries to try to help herself and other girls being sold escape, now she works for him helping people all over the country. When Aries is kidnapped, she tries to use her skills to find him, but keeps hitting dead ends. Aries is locked away and is tortured by threats of Taylor being hurt and reminders of the daughter he lost. When Aries is rescued, he finally decides that he needs to finally be fully happy and that means finally admitting the feelings he's been hiding for years. There are twists and spicy parts, along with torture and pain, physical and emotional. Taylor needs to face her fears and learn to fully open herself up to the new family around her.
I have the honor and privilege of being on J's Beta Team and I feel so beyond lucky that I have the chance to read her stories before they go out into the world. J's writing style is emotional, meaningful and at times, completely gut wrenching. I really enjoyed Dismantle & Prevail and the roller coaster of emotions that Aries and Taylor's story took me on! I loved how it ties in with the Fated to You series and that some of our favorite characters from that series play a part in this story! Even though I feel lucky that I can't personally relate to Aries and Taylor's life experiences (tbh, thank goodness 😅), I still felt connected to these characters and invested in their relationship and it's future. I will say, I was even holding my breath and praying in the back of my mind that J would give me the plot twist I was so desperately hoping for. Did she do it?! Well, you'll just have to read the story and find out. And if the next time you see me I have butterfly tattoos, well, IYKYK.
J. Laine doesn’t just write romance. She writes survival, resilience, and the kind of love that doesn’t come easy. Taylor is tough, scarred, and unapologetically herself. She’s been through more than most and still shows up swinging. Aries is all steel and loyalty, the kind of man who carries the weight of everyone else but still makes room for her.
Their dynamic is electric. The tension, the slow trust, the vulnerability, it all hits deep. The way they become each other’s calm in the chaos feels real and earned. This isn’t just about heat or high stakes, though you’ll get plenty of both. It’s about healing, letting someone in, and choosing love even when it hurts.
There’s mystery, grit, and moments that will punch you right in the chest. The twists had me guessing and the emotional payoff was everything. J. Laine proves again she knows how to write characters that stay with you long after the last page.
This book was INTEEENSE, I loved it! I wasn’t expecting it to be so emotional, I cried. I swooned, and cried some more.
The healing was so perfect! The writing is beautiful and there’s so many heartwarming moments. Aries and Taylor are just so amazing, two broken souls. Finding themselves, healing together and love.
I can’t give anything away. If you love black cat, strong fmcs. A swoon worthy mmc who’s obsessed with her, hot spice and so many jaw dropping twists that will have you screaming, like I did…pick up this book!
While reading Dismantle and Prevail, I was sad, happy, angry, my heart broke, happy again, etc. This book deals with sensitive and hard topics, that’s it’s hard not to feel empathy towards the circumstances and the characters.
Aries and Taylor both show the hardness after dealing with things of their past. As they grow closer, they both help chip away that hardness and learn that it is ok to lean on each other and to be vulnerable with their true emotions. They fight for each other, protect each other, and love each other. With each other, they overcome the past.
Aries never gave up on Taylor. He waited until she was ready and never pushed her. He waited for her to see what he seen all along. Taylor stayed strong and persevered, even during the hard days. She stepped up, with her head held high, and fought to be where she is today.
Wow, just wow this book blew me away. Dismantle & Prevail is an amazing MC romance. The chemistry between the characters is just short of amazing.
You have Aries Clark a bad a33 take no crap President of a MC club, who has had it rough after losing his daughter and all the crap he goes thru, he rescues woman from bad situations with his MC Club members.
Then you have the bad a33 survivor Taylor who has been thru it all, she got sold into a s3x trafficking ring and all the crap she’s been thru since. She gets rescued with other woman by Aries. She also is a good tracker thru finding people online; she joins his group. Read and find out what happens between these two characters and all the other supporting characters.
Do check your triggers before reading. This is an age gap dark MC romance with suspense.
The plot was good, a troubled MMC who started a vigilante program saving victims after he lost a love one. The FMC, a victim with a backbone. Somewhere the plot turned into 55% him falling in love with her and attempting to convince her to be his, while saying it was her decision. The plot could have been solid but the writing missed the mark for me. There are so many times the FMC’s entire name is used in this book… also, the change in pet names in the same paragraph gave me whiplash.
I feel like this author had so many good ideas but they ended up being so many excess sub plots that it was overwhelming. I’d love to read this after it’s been refined because the story is solid.
Tropes: -enemies (ish) to lovers - k!dnapping - slow burn
Dismantle And Prevail is my first read by this author and it definitely kept me on my toes. It's absolutely heartbreaking! Taylor goes through complete and utter hades! How she survives is beyond me especially when she does it all not only to protect herself but other women as well. This author has written a fantastic story full of intrigue, mystery and so much drama. Taylor is fierce and Aries is just a bad^*^ and exactly what Taylor needs. Then I discover that some of these characters are crossover characters so now I have to go check out the Fated To You series and the Resilience series. There's subject matter that may be sensitive to some readers so make sure you check trigger warnings before you start reading. I absolutely LOVE this story, every gutwrenching word!
