Carmine certainly did a lot of research and interviews for this book. I like his unique approach that the speakers of old times such as Abraham Lincoln and others are not really relevant to us, and thus we should stop always resorting to them for speaking advice. They don't live in our modern society that requires a different type of oratory than what worked back then.

Of the 10 secrets, only a few are the same as what you always hear. After reading several speech books you eventually see the same thing over and over, but Carmine does a good job keeping it fresh.

If you are already good at speaking, I think this book can still help you. Just read it a bit quicker.

Maybe this author knows about public speaking, but he isn't a good writer. Tons of name-dropping and repetition. Good material, but it was the same thing over and over and over and over.

Fast read with some great, to the point, tips on how to make our communication and presentations better. I've read other books by Gallo and I like that they are pretty straightforward and include real life examples of success (examples I can look up, find the people he's talking about, see their talks or read their posts.) That to me adds another level of credibility and motivation.

I highly recommend it to anyone gearing up to give a presentation (no matter how big or small.)

The author talk about the basic things that they are essential to be a good communicator. However, I didn't find it useful for me, because I already have some good skills in communication, if you have them too, than maybe you'll find the book booring.

I still appreciate the effort made by the author, so I gave it 4 from 5.

I recommend this book for the people who don't have experience in business communication and don't do presentations regularly.

My favorite part of this book was the length. It was a short easy read for a topic that can be not so exciting. While the book provided lots of helpful tips the title was misleading to me. The book focuses more on doing presentations or speaking in meetings rather than daily communication in the career environment.

This book was very repetitive and I feel like it would have been a lot better without the author constantly utilizing name dropping to keep the reader invested. This book could easily have been cut in half by taking out the repetitiveness and name dropping.

Great book for leader development

This book helped develop strategies for crafting leadership traits through communication. Oh, and always shine you shoes and sparingly use hand gestures!

Looking for simple but got simplistic instead

The title attracted me to buy this book. But it was rather superficial and no meat. A few gems here and there. I plan to go back re-read the whole book again. I'm sure there are more gems in there some where...

As the name suggested it is a simple step to achieve great communication skills. It was a fast-paced book with a lot of interviews and advice from leading leaders in the industry of business. Practical, easily applicable, and not time-consuming.

If you like books with tips and "secrets", this one is ok. Don't expect a lot of depth. Easy and enjoyable read.

This is nothing more than a carbon copy of hundreds of other coffee table books which promises that its audience can learn 'secrets' quickly and become successful. Is the advice wrong? Not really. Is it secret? Certainly not. It's the same book that has been written countless times before and sits on the corner table at your local dentist's office.

The pages are thick. The words are few; like a children's book for adults.

In nowadays environment, to be able to work effectively we need a good (or even great) communication skill. For those who’d like to enhance their communication skill, this book can simply help. An eye-opening start, by which the author mention that passion is the main fuel of good communication, followed by nine other simple ‘secrets’ on how we can communicate better, mainly when we deliver public speaking. The stories in this book are also enriching the readers with great communicator’s experiences and lessons. I think that trying to practice bite by bite ‘secrets’ written in this book on your daily opportunities can help you develop your communication skill.

Good book. It wasn't dry or boring and had lots of good, real life examples. The book recommends watching videos on the author's web site. I was disappointed that I couldn't find them.
