After elite Navy Seal Troy Stark is forced into retirement for his dubious respect for authority, his work in stopping a major terrorist threat to New York is noticed. Invited to join a secretive new international terrorist-fighting organization, Troy must hunt down all threats to the U.S. that originate from overseas—and pre-empt them by any means possible.
In ROGUE MISSION (Book #4), an isolated sex trafficking case leads Troy to a vast, underground network of organized crime in Europe. Hundreds of women, it seems, are being trafficked, and used to fund terrorist organizations. In this high octane action thriller, Troy must uncover a vast web of crime, protected at the highest levels, and take on his most complex enemy yet.
A binge-worthy action thriller with heart-pounding suspense and unforeseen twists, ROGUE MISSION is the fourth novel in an exhilarating new series by a #1 bestselling author that will have you fall in love with a brand new action hero—and listen late into the night.
Jack Mars is author of the bestselling LUKE STONE thriller series, which include the suspense thrillers ANY MEANS NECESSARY (book #1), OATH OF OFFICE (book #2) and SITUATION ROOM (book #3).
The ending is really the only highlight of the book, it promises so much. Unfortunately the rest of the book can be best described as lackluster It takes forever for things to happen, there's lots of "filler" and its obvious the author is trying to build up the characters, but in truth, other than Stark, they all fall a little flat So many sub plots, that get a chapter and then nothing, although hopefully the next book covers one of them in depth
Outlandish story with Stark and his team shot, stabbed and generally brutalized but they get their guy! Ben Porter in his novels gets his guy with less bloodshed in both sides. And it is more realistic! Read them!!!
This one fell flat in comparison to previous novels. It's still a quick lead, but it felt like the narrative development was rushed instead of fully developed.
Wow, I can't believe I am ready finished with the fourth book in the Troy Stark saga but here I am. In Rogue Mission, Stark and his team is called upon to investigate an isolated sex trafficking case involving the U.S. Ambassador to England which leads Troy to a vast, underground network of organized crime in Europe. Hundreds of women, it seems, are being trafficked, and used to fund terrorist organizations.
This particular novel was both heart wrenching and horrifying which is the point due to the nature of the subject matter and the victims involved. The author captures the intensity of this kind of story very well. Stark and his team at great risk to themselves are taking on the mob and very sophisticated criminals while being outgunned and outsmarted by them and having to find a way to take them down. This will not be easy for Stark and the team but these high risk mission never are.
Adding to the challenges, Stark and his team find themselves being entangled in international incidents that threaten to end the counterintelligence team due to bureaucracies and other political complexities that limit Stark and his team's effectiveness when playing by the rules. This forces them to go rogue due to the limited time to act on intelligence received before disaster occurs because their main priorities and mission are about saving lives and preventing terrorist attacks. Thus far, they have been producing results, but meanwhile, the powers that be are becoming more of a hindrance than an asset because some of the higher ups have a personal axe to grind with the leader of the team who is also Stark's boss.
Meanwhile, there are subplots brewing and a threat lingering in the shadows seeking revenge on Stark that really pulls you in wanting to see what's going to happen next. That makes this story one of the best of the bunch in the Troy Stark saga. This book is highly recommended and will not disappoint.
Book 4 of Troy Stark. Another action packed book going after international human traffickers and Troy’s partner is right in the middle of it. Lots of gunfire and some focus on PTSD. Interestingly, a strong focus on the care needed when meeting people online. Overall a good resolution with Troy diving in to save the day. The end leaves us with a lead into the next book. This is a stark move forward from previous books. Overall a fun thriller.
