Billy Thomson, a drug user in the employ of Glasgow gangster Maxie McLean, had aspirations far beyond his capability, but trying to rip off Maxie for a large sum of money set in motion a series of events that begun with the sudden, untimely death of Billy. The aftermath of Billy’s demise had repercussions on a number of people, not least the uniformed officer who was pursuing Billy at the time of his death. In time, DC Willie McKay, a downtrodden, deeply unhappy man becomes embroiled in the inquiry, as does Billy’s loving grandmother and his drug addicted girlfriend, Angie. The frantic search for the stolen money by the sadistic Maxie and his henchmen sets the scene for the mayhem that follows the passing of the rather insignificant Billy Thomson. Set mainly in the Glasgow area, the book exhibit’s a knowledge of police procedures as the tension is cranked up to the final, explosive outcome.

Very good start to his list of books. Onto the next one , A Loan With Patsy. As I am Glasgow born and bred, I really enjoy reading books about my home city. It good to relate to some of the places. Somehow makes it more personal.
It's true what they say, don't judge a book by it's cover! Apart from being far too over descriptive of all the characters and there was a lot of them, it wasn't a bad book, I'm into Glasgow crime books at the minute and this one was pretty good, even had some good twists in it. Ignore the dreadful cover, it's well worth a read.
when a drug dealer runs off from a couple of cops marks the start of a ripping yarn. the story has plenty if twists and turns which keep your glued to the page . he throws into the mix a missing person case and a big time drug dealer
the characters as always in George Donald's books are believable able and with plenty of depth the story is a real page turner
First book I have read by the author and I enjoyed it allot. Great plot, not too complex but fun and interesting. The characters were full of colour and I found myself liking the good and bad guys. Mickey the Greek is pure class!
