From the Back
You think the next thing will fix it. Fix the anxiety, the loneliness, the pressure. I thought so, too.

My name is Tal, and I was one of the best young architects in the city. But with each new accomplishment and milestone, I found myself left with more questions than answers. What if there's more? What if it isn't all on me? What if God isn't who I think he is, and neither am I?

Walk with me through friendship, purpose, shame, trust, and true identity. This is The Path.

I wanted to like this book, but it’s not super well-written. It’s trying to be a hero’s adventure kinda fantasy thing, but it moved way too fast and has way too little detail. It tries to be an allegory, but it’s way too obvious, not a single attempt at subtlety. It tries to be a Christian practical virtue/life improvement book through explicit interludes, and to my mind those are the better portions, though they wind up feeling generic.

What I did like was the message throughout about a path walked with God and community. I also liked the footnote references everywhere, although there were some serious stretches of scripture but oh well.

To future readers: you’ll find weird names, and if you’re like me you’ll wanna google what they mean. Don’t be like me and only find out at the very end that there’s a list of names and meanings already on page 225

Wow. This book deeply impacted me. Such a unique read with it being part fictional story. A little bit of Chronicles of Narnia vibes. Highly recommend!!

The Path is visually stunning—and even more beautiful in its message. It reads like a fantasy novel and a spiritual mentoring session in one. The story of Tal helped me see Jesus, God, and the Kingdom in vivid, personal ways. The authors speak about shame, grace, and the gospel with such tenderness and power—I found myself in tears, rereading lines that spoke directly to my soul.

This is good news that feels like real good news—inviting us to be fully known, deeply loved, and never alone on the journey. I’ll be recommending this to everyone I know.

Highly recommended getting the book—because it’s beautiful—AND the audiobook. These truths will sink deeper if you allow yourself to see them and hear them…better yet, get The Path Experience (the study guide to go with it) so you can also EXPERIENCE these truths in community.

The Path tries to allegorize the Christian walk, and it does a decent job for the most part. However, I felt like it dodged the Gospel—Jesus is presented as a guy who wants to be our buddy, and God comes across as his cool dad. There’s almost no real discussion of God’s glory, our sin, Christ’s sacrifice, or anything about our salvation. To a new Christian, this book would make the Christian life look like it’s about trusting Christ to lead us to personal fulfillment. Maybe that’s a collateral aspect of the Christian life, but it isn’t the core.

I read this book with some other mature Christian’s, so we were able to have some fruitful discussions about each chapter and I’m thankful for that. But I would not recommend this book to a new Christian.

I started this book about eight months ago. I got to the part where Tal makes the big decision; to trust Jesus and jump off the cliff. This happens maybe three chapters into the book. I distinctly remember wondering what could they possibly do with the next 150 something pages of this book? The whole story has been told. I then had to put the book aside due to some personal reasons. I have gotten baptized in the meantime and came back to this book two weeks ago with an open mind. Holy moly the rest of the story was better than the first part. Trusting Jesus is indeed not the end of a story it’s the start to one and my heart was finally open to receiving that knowlage. This book definitely keeps you guessing but everything it touches on is a valid lesson for life.

If you’re looking for this to be on the same level as CS Lewis and Tolkien (like they’re trying to imitate) you’ll be disappointed. But as a campus minister who thinks a lot about how to teach my students and immerse them in God’s story, I think this really hits the mark. Definitely would recommend!

I really enjoyed this book- described to me as hinds feet in high places but for Gen Z!
As a lover of allegories and stories and Jesus this book was a great fit. I appreciated the little breaks in the story to help explain the deeper meaning and how it could apply to the readers life. As someone who works in college ministry this will be a book I return to often, and recommend to many.

The Path was a very insightful but easy to read book. It allowed me to see different patterns that I have gone through and change my perspective of what living with Jesus can be. I very much enjoyed it and encourage people to read and meditate on the ideas behind it.

This book was a disappointment to me. I thought I might find some material for a potential class. However, it is written more as a story. It gives the main character's faith journey and reminded me of a poor man's version of The Shack.

Beautiful book! I’ve been walking with the Lord since my pre teens and have had many moments where I’ve lost sight of the path. This book is such a beautiful reminder that we all have struggles but the Lord is gracious!

Loved this book!!! Would be a great book to give to a non-believer or someone who is new to faith! Had a modern Pilgrims Progress vibe! A nice way to slow down and just meditate on the simple truth of the Gospel!

I liked the guided notes in each chapter and the footnotes. This book has so much knowledge but it just moves super fast and sometimes I was a little confused
