Rate this book
Justice Has a Price. Dupree is Willing to Pay It
When Dupree’s new corporate bosses cross the line, he refuses to look the other way—and suddenly finds himself out of a job, and in the middle of something far more dangerous than workplace politics.
A frightened young woman needs help. A powerful company wants silence. And White Owl, once a quiet mountain town, is starting to show cracks no one wants to admit are there.
As pressure mounts and tempers rise, Dupree is forced to walk away, or stand up against people who believe they’re untouchable.
A gripping blend of legal tension, small-town drama, and mounting suspense, Dupree’s Resolve delivers a hero worth rooting for and a threat worth fearing—perfect for fans of Grisham, Dugoni, and clean, character-driven thrillers.

Micheal Maxwell has traveled the globe on the lookout for strange sights, sounds, and people. His adventures have taken him from the Jungles of Ecuador and the Philippines to the top of the Eiffel Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge, and from the cave dwellings of Native Americans to The Kehlsteinhaus, Hitler’s Eagles Nest! He’s always looking for a story to tell and interesting people to meet.

Micheal Maxwell was taught the beauty and majesty of the English language by Bob Dylan, Robertson Davies, Charles Dickens, and Leonard Cohen.

Mr. Maxwell has traveled the globe, dined with politicians, rock stars, and beggars. He has rubbed shoulders with priests and murderers, surgeons and drug dealers, each one giving him a part of themselves that will live again in the pages of his books.

Micheal Maxwell has found a niche in the mystery, suspense, genre with The Cole Sage Series that gives readers an everyman hero, short on vices, long on compassion, and a sense of fair play, and the willingness to risk everything to right wrongs. The Cole Sage Series departs from the usual, heavily sexual, profanity-laced norm and gives readers character-driven stories, with twists, turns, and page-turning plot lines.

Micheal Maxwell writes from a life of love, music, film, and literature. Along with his lovely wife and travel partner, Janet, he lives in a small town in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California.

This is a great series. It has characters that you wish you knew. It is a small town in Washington State and Dupree is lucky to have found it. Start with Book 1 because this is the last book in the series and you will want to know the whole story. The author, Micheal Maxwell, is terrific. He has 4 series that I have read or am now reading. You won't miss the fact that there is no bad language or gory murder scenes. There are murders because one series is a detective series but the murder occurs off script. Back to Dupree. he is a lawyer who runs away from his wealthy clients in Los Angeles, leaves his family, because if he continues living he will kill himself. That seems like a good reason to depart. So, do get Book 1 and begin the story. You won't regret it.

If you ignore the fact that Dupree almost gets killed, this one is mostly a feel good story. His daughter, Andee, shows up fresh out of rehab. She has dealt surprisingly well with her alcoholism, and becomes Dupree's receptionist. Seems she might make a good lawyer one day. Like Dara's Zucchini Banana Nut Bread, this story come with a surprise.

Bidding farewell to Dupree

A very welcome respite from so many tales today of depravity, demented violence and bleak hopelessness - Micheal Maxwell’s protagonist undergoes trials, disappointments, tribulations and finally finds his peace.
