In a rugged and unforgiving patch of rural Tennessee, danger lurks in dense forests, twisting backroads and remote properties. The misty lakes and rolling hills are as lethal as they are beautiful. Here, the law feels distant, the crimes are darker, and when trouble comes, there’s nowhere to run.
When it comes to solving crimes, Detective Chris Bailey plays by his own rules. Driven by a relentless moral compass, he's willing to bend the law if it means protecting the innocent or delivering justice. This means he’s often a thorn in the side of his colleagues, but he doesn’t slow down for anyone. Bailey’s investigations pull him into deadly confrontations, but no matter how high the stakes or how brutal the fight, he never backs down.
Writing as both Emma Wildes and Katherine Smith, Kate Watterson has over thirty published books to her credit, plus five Eppie nominations, one Eppie win for best historical erotic in 2007, a RWA Lories win, WisRWA 2005 final for best historical romance, and is a CAPA nominee. She loves suspense and to write erotic stories in the genre is a special treat.
Most detectives never have to shoot their guns. Bailey, in the course of 3 books has had to shoot suspects, one having shot him twice and his partner once. Plenty of action. 2 completely different personalities as partners, but they compliment each other, while working different ways. Complex characters, well thought out. Stories are far fetched but enjoyable.
