Cautious to a fault, Lily Eicher strives to live up to her dat's high standards. She's certainly not the kind of Amish girl who would make time for someone as impetuous as the Helmuths' grandson, Aden - even if his lively spirit and caring ways are showing her just how wonderful following her heart can be....
Recklessly doing the right thing got Aden into big trouble. A fresh start at his grandparents' is just what he needs. And shy, pretty Lily is turning his world upside down and making him want to prove he can do good within the rules. But now both must find enough faith and understanding to risk pursuing their dreams together.

I wanted to love this one and it did have a great premise and the first half of the story started out super strong with both characters and I soon became endeared by their romance and the strong bond that they quickly built. But the later half of the story just plummeted my true enjoyment of it. I had high hopes as the first book was so fabulous. The major issue that I ended up having with this one is the heroine. To be honest she was irresponsible, not willing to stand up for herself especially when it came to her father. There was this disconnect like she would bow down to him and accept everything that he said and wouldn't stand up and be honest with him about what events happen. I was really disappointed and while she eventually grew a pair and finally stood up to him, she never was truly honest with him fully. I just struggle with these type of heroines that won't stand up for their men and the way that the hero was treated, just broke my heart. He was such a honest and good hearted men who pretty much was treated like a hardened criminal when technically he went to jail but it was for less than a day haha and he was protecting a TREE ....a TREE!! Like that is no hardened criminal at all. The only one that was willing to stand up for him was the sister of the heroine, and I just wanted to cheer her on because she was the only one that seemed to have any sense and human compassion for others. So while I enjoy many aspects to the story, I also wanted to throw my phone against the wall while listening to this. So I think I am being generous with a 3 star rating. I am trying to not let this upset me too much, but it was just frustrating when I wanted to love this one but other factors just brought down the level of enjoyment in a impactful way. However, I am loving the grandparents, and I can't wait for Tyler's book which I think is next! He deserves a good HEA!
Lily has to be the most obedient and cautious Amish daughter who ever lived. Though she loves her father dearly, she almost lives in dread of displeasing him, and his strict upbringing has dictated her behavior. A complication to her life arrives in the form of one Aden Helmuth, and neither of their lives will ever be the same. As expected, the road to happiness is quite a rocky one, one they may not be able to traverse. Author Jennifer Beckstrand does a commendable job of creating interesting and unusual characters and placing them in an equally intriguing and unique plot.
Huckleberry Summer by Jennifer Beckstrand The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill #2 348-page Paperback

Featuring: Grandparents, Matchmaking, Wisconsin, Food, Jailbird, Goldendoodle, Vegetarianism, Forbidden Love Trope, Book Preview: Huckleberry Christmas book 3
Rating as a movie: PG-13
My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️½
My thoughts: 📖 Page 41 of 348 Ch. 6 - The grandparents are great, but the couple is a little bland compared to book 1. 📖 80 Ch. 9 - This book may be getting the pin 📌 too! Lily is so passive it's annoying. I'll settle for the backburner for now. It needs more time with Annie and Felty and less time with the soon-to-be pairing. They are dull. 📖 164 Ch. 15 - It has improved but I feel like this is going to be 3 stars.
I wasn't a fan of the plot so I didn't enjoy it as much, the story wasn't bad.
Recommend to others: Only if you want to get through the series or enjoy books about martyrism.
Huckleberry Summer, book #2 in The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series, is a delightful Amish romance about an elderly couple who decide to meddle in their grandchildren's lives in order to help them find suitable mates. Although part of a series, it can easily stand alone. This is the second novel of Jennifer Beckstrand's that I've read, and I find her writing very refreshing and enjoyable. Filled with charming characters, sweet romance, and gentle humor, Huckleberry Summer captured my interest from the first page as I was transported to the Huckleberry Hill community of Bonduel, Wisconsin , and the ending only left me wanting more of the Helmuth family.
With their matchmaking efforts and spiritual wisdom that comes from a lifetime of walking with God, Felty and Anna are at the heart of this series. Much more than mere matchmaking, they have a unique ability to gently impart spiritual wisdom into the hearts of their loved ones. Felty and Anna are two very memorable and beloved characters.
This time it's their grandson, Aden, who "can't seem to stay out of jail long enough to court anyone," according to Anna. But while he tends to be a little reckless and rebellious, his only "crimes" are the passion he has for the environment and animals. As a result of her dat's over protectiveness, Lily has a cautious nature and a need for her Dat's approval, which creates great tension between Lily and Aden.
Another character that will steal your heart is Aden's Goldendoodle, Pilot. I had no idea what kind of dog this was, so I did a little research and discovered that the adorable Goldendoodle is a hybrid dog breed resulting from breeding a Poodle with a Golden Retriever. Although I'm a cat person, I fell in love with Pilot.
Aden and Lily both experience some emotional and spiritual maturing in a way that touched me as a reader because I probably tend to be a little cautious also. Aden knew Lily better than she knew herself, and gave her courage with these words: "There are some things worth taking the risk for. You can be brave when it's important enough."
And when it comes to the seemingly never-ending struggle of surrendering my will to God, to knowing what's my part vs. when I should allow God to take over, this conversation between Felty and Aden was moving:
Felty: "It sounds to me like you need to turn your life over to God and then listen when He speaks to you. . . . Have you truly turned your life over to God, or are you just giving Him lip service?" Aden: "I feel like God is calling my number, but I can't answer Him because I don't have a phone."
Huckleberry Summer is a truly delightful and entertaining story, worthy of the description "feel good," and guaranteed to bring a smile while reading and even afterward. Highly recommended. 5-star rating for the enjoyment factor alone!
Thank you to Jane Nutter and Kensington Publishing for providing an electronic copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
With one successful matchmaking scheme under her belt, Anna sets off to match a different grandson up with a young lady she thinks is perfect for him. Once she hires Lily to help her and her husband out, she busts a move and then lets the magic happen. However, Lily immediately dislikes Aden. She thinks his big dog is out of control just like Aden, who is a conservationist and has been arrested for protesting. Meanwhile, Aden thinks Lily is cute, but isn’t interested in someone who hates him and his dog. When they grow feelings for each other, their love is put to the test when Lily’s father disapproves of Aden. Besides, her dad already has a husband picked out for her, and he's safe and reliable. What is this sweet couple to do?
After reading the first book in the series, I knew I had to pick up the second installment and get started on it right away. While I loved the first book, I didn’t particularly care for the new couple we follow. I still can’t put my finger on what it is that I don’t like about Aden. He’s a conservationist who cares about saving the planet as well as animals. Like Lily, he’s sweet and honest, but there was something about him that rubbed me the wrong way. His dog sounded adorable though and I’d give him all the pats in the world.
Lily is a sweet woman who is a serial rule follower, loves to be helpful, and hangs on every word her father has to say. The drawback is that she never steps a foot out of line, and when she does, she doesn’t take responsibility. Instead of acknowledging the choices she makes, she points the finger elsewhere and goes off crying in the other direction. I saw this coming early on and it reminded me of the few people I’ve known throughout my life who always made it seem like they just happened to be there whenever they did something that led to any kind trouble. I think this is why I didn’t care for Lily. No one has time for her shenanigans when she does pull them.
That said, I loved every other character that appears in the book, including the ones we’ve seen before. I loved seeing Anna and Felty again and I loved meeting the new characters, especially Lily’s sister, Estee. I love that we got a glimpse at the next book as well and I’m really excited that Anna will be fixing up one of her granddaughters with someone.
All in all, this book had a great cast of characters and told a wonderful story. I just didn’t care for Lily and Aden, but I think that most people will. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the next book.
Once again, Jennifer Beckstrand has crafted a tale with humor and charm. Quite a lot happens in this second installment of the series: An environmental activist struggles to promote change in his community while still being true to his Amish faith. A shy and obedient young woman learns to stand up for herself and be strong. And a young man slowly realizes that his best friend may be in love with his fiancée . . .
Well-crafted characters, serious hardship, and just a touch of warmth combine to make a memorable story.
I’m conflicted about this story. Parts of the story I really enjoyed, and there are some humorous parts. But there were elements to the plot that drove me absolutely nuts. I read about 75% of the book and skimmed a part of the last 25 and read the ending. Lily made some choices that made me absolutely want to shake her and at least one part of the story was not resolved to my satisfaction. I am going to read book 3 to see what happens to characters from this book and then I’ll decide if I’m going to read the rest of the series or not.
Wonderful story of courage and love. Jennifer Beckstrand did it again in another remarkable book. This is a wonderful series and can't wait to read the next one.
A Jennifer Beckstrand novel to me is like a breath of fresh air. Just pure, clean, good fun, with a little bit of angst just to keep things interesting. Such was definitely the case with this book. From the beginning, though it didn't seem 'logical', Aden and Lily just 'fit', and when left to their own chances to interact, the formed a very lovely friendship that blossomed into love. But Aden's trying to save the world, and Lily's Dat (as well as her own fears) stand firmly in the way of their 'HAE'. I really enjoyed this book, especially when Dawdi Felty taught Aden about trying to take God's job, and when Estee confronted Lily with her hypocrisy. Each person was given a loving reprimand, and needed to choose whether or not to grow and become better. I'm definitely looking forward to the next scheme that Anna and Felty (but, let's be honest here, mostly Anna . . . lol!) put into play for their matchmaking!
Huckleberry Summer is the follow-up to Huckleberry Hill and it was as intriguing as the first book. Ms. Beckstrand has created captivating characters with real life, moral dilemmas that test their faith in God, as well as each other. Read More. . . http://www.blackravensreviews.com/aut...
This is an Amish mystery. She is an Amish woman who wouldn't do anything wrong or go against her father in any way. Aden is a newcomer to town who falls in love with her, even though he has been in jail and her father warns her away from him. She agrees to marry the man her husband wants while loving Aden. I found it easy to figure out where the plot was going.
Our sweet little matchmaking Amish grandparents Felty and Anna Helmuth are at it again and I love it. The summer begins with grandson Aden and his extra large wild, silly dog, Pilot, arriving on Huckleberry Hill from his Amish community in Ohio to "help" his grandparents on their farm and get himself straightened out. Aden has been arrested three times back in Ohio while being an environmental activist, along with his wild driving English friend. And why yes mammi Anna has picked her grandson Aden the perfect Amish girl to marry. The perfect Amish girl is Lily and she is the exact opposite of Aden. She is fearful, timid, obedient, and well behaved. On Lily’s first day helping Anna, she is greeted by Aden’s huge dog, Pilot. Lily has been frightened of dogs ever since she was bitten at age 8 by a dog. Then there's Tyler, the Amish man that has loved Lily "from afar" the perfect example of a good Amish husband in Lily's father's eyes especially compared to a wild Amish man from another state. Tyler is a godly man and good provider but doesn’t stir up any romantic feelings in Lily. As with all good romance novels, the huckleberry path is strewn with thorns and obstacles. Aden trying to win over Lily's father's approval and Tyler trying to win over Lily. The friendly competition between the men is quite the folly and so fun to read
Anna and Felty are at it again, in their delightful way of playing matchmaker for their Grandchildren. Anna especially seems gifted in doing so with one success story already under her crisp white apron! I love this Amish community and am thrilled to be back in their homes, and around their farms. This time Arden from Sugarcreek, the Grandson, is now staying with and helping his Grandparents. When you hear that Arden has been arrested at least three times, and probably should have been more, you will wonder what kind of an Amish boy he is? Now gossip can be deceiving, and Arden has the local Amish Grapevine working overtime. What it all comes down to is his love of all living things, including trees, which accounts for one of his arrests. Enter Lily Eichner who has been hired by Anna, she is at it again, to help her, and puts her right in front of Arden every day. There is a big problem to their relationship, that grapevine has reached Lily’s Dad, and he wants no part of Arden, and actually has already picked out a husband for her, the Bishop’s son, Tyler Yoder. Now you want to dislike Tyler, but he is so loveable, I couldn’t, the guy is so nice to everyone. There is another loveable character in this story, Pilot, a humongous dog, and a big kisser with his wet tongue. He also likes to charge head on into people. Love how Lily gets his name mixed up, and how this dog saves the day, even if she has to use more hand sanitizer. Your in for a delightful, and wonderful time reading this story, and have to wonder how it is all going to turn out. Lily never disobeys her father. Will she get the courage to follow her heart? I for one can’t wait for the next book!!
I received this book from the Publisher Kensington and Net Galley, and was not required to give a positive review.
"Anna pursed her lips and scolded Felty with her eyes. 'Boys like Aden need a wife to settle them down. A girl like little Eicher.' Felty sputtered and coughed, and Anna stood up and thumped him on the back until he motioned for her to stop. 'Not another one of your matchmaking schemes, Annie. I don't think my weak heart can stand it.' " Aden is the talk of the community when he comes to stay for the summer with his grandparents, Anna and Felty. Lily innocently accepts an offer to work for them for the summer, never realizing that Anna and Felty are planning a matchmaking experience for her. Lily's father warns her to stay away from Aden as the rumor mill has spread plenty of gossip about his "troubles". Will forgiveness win out? Will Aden have a chance to speak for himself and win the hearts of the Amish community? This is a delightful light read....I can recall my own granny trying to "set me up" with young boys in the neighborhood and at church when I stayed with her during the summer. My granny was not successful in her matchmaking but she did highly approve of the young men I dated and took to visit her for her seal of approval. I married one of those young men and we ended up performing her funeral service for her when she passed on to glory at age 95.....as she had requested of us when we were newlyweds. 5 Stars for this one and now, I can hardly wait for Huckleberry Christmas which is to release in October 2014......oh, I hope there is snow and maybe a romantic sleigh ride for some lucky Amish couple! I received a print Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Huckleberry Summer is another amazing story by Jennifer Beckstrand.
Anna and Felty Helmuth grandson, Aden Helmuth, comes to live with them. He is not your typical young Amish man as Aden has been living a rebellious life with time spent in jail. Aden had a tragic accident which of could of ended his life. But a miracle happened which made Aden realize God still loved and cared for him. Aden knew living with his grandparents would be the place for him to go after his life was spared.
Anna just knows that perfect Lily Eicher that never strays from following her father and the rules, thus she'll be the perfect match for grandson Aden. Anna has Lily to come and assist her with household chores. Oh my, Aden's dog greets Lily with his big old paws on her shoulders and knocks cookies from her hands. Thus, Lily is unsure about Aden's dog but in time she is drawn to Aden just as Anna wanted.
Lily's father is not happy about the situation at Huckleberry Hill as he is hearing gossip about Aden's past that happened in his Amish community. Will Aden and Lily be able to continue their relationship or will Lily go along with what her father asks as she is the sweet obedient daughter?
There'll be some intense moments happening with Aden, with Lily caught in the middle, and a trip to the county jail. I don't want to spoil this most real to life adventure--so go ahead a grab a copy and be prepared to sit until you are finished reading.
I'm a sucker for Amish fiction, and I really love a great Amish romance, and Huckleberry Summer is just that. It is a fun, light read that will have you running through all sorts of emotions before the last page is turned.
Lily is a daddy's girl. Which is fine, except she let's her dad control the way she thinks and how she lives her life. When Aden comes into her life, she starts to change, much to the chagrin of her father, who wants her to marry the bishop's son, Tyler.
Aden is not your typical Amish guy. He's an environmentalist and he fights for the rights of animals. Oh, and he's been arrested three times. This doesn't win him any points with Lily's father.
I wish I could have felt some sort of sympathy with Lily's dad, David, but even the backstory, that explains why he's the way he is, didn't make me like him. He comes across, almost as a villain.
Then there's Lily. She's a wimp, especially when it comes to her father. She's so afraid of the world and pleasing her father that she was letting life and love pass her by.
It was good to see her get some spunk at the end of the story, because she was so wimpy throughout the book.
The best character in the book is, by far, Aden's dog Pilot. He really steals the show when he's around.
All in all, a good sweet romance that will warm your heart on a nice summer day.
The 2nd book in the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series and another 5 star read. I have to admit, this one did keep me guessing. This book was so delightfully crafted and plotted. The story flowed from the first sentence to the very last and it was wonderful meeting some characters already familiar from the first book. If you are going to have meddling relative, these grandparents were the very best. I fell in love with them in the first book and love them even more after this one. The chuckle out loud moments were numerous and the pounding heart moments were there throughout the book two. I did like this couple very much and was eager to see how their story would end. If you are an Amish fiction fan you will love this book which can be read as a stand alone. I always read books in a series from the first book even if it is not necessary too. If you are new to the genre this is a great introduction into the Amish lifestyle and culture and I am sure will wanting you to come back for more. I am thrilled that I was introduced to Jennifer Beckstand's books and further of adventures of the Helmuths. I am excited to read the next book in the series.
HUCKLEBERRY SUMMER is the third book in this series but it easily stands alone. I've read these books (series) out of order, but fell in love with Anna and Felty so I went back and looked for this authors previous books. I loved Aden, and Tyler both, and knew that even if one good man won, another would lose. That bothered me. But I rooted for both of them even though I knew Aden was the hero and Tyler would be the hero in the next book (which I already read.) Lily was wimpy. She loved her dad and I won't fault that, but she bothered me and is what kept this book from being five stars. I understand why she did what she did but I didn't like it. Not the way she strung both men along, not the way she lied to her dad, and the way she acted like a coward when confronted with anything uncomfortable. Otherwise, I loved this book, including the dog. And Jamal. Great read. Love Ms. Beckstrand's humor.
Aden stays with his grandparents for the summer. Anna Helmuth is his grandmother and she is trying to play matchmaker and get him together with Lily. She ask Lily to work for her during the summer for she will be near Aden. Aden had a dog named pilot that just loves to greet her in a big way. At first Lily father tells her to stay clear of Aden due to his past but then changes his mind. Also Tyler is interested in Lily. Pilot is a life saving dog so Lily comes to love him. Aden friend Jamel comes to town and talks Aden into going to puppy mill with him to take pics, Lily decides to go too and then they all get caught so that incident does not go over well with her father. Aden gets shunned for a few weeks, in the meantime Lily agreed to marry Tyler but realizes that she does not love him but loves Aden.
This is a total romantic FLUFF book...which I hardly EVER read. I read it while "vacationing" at my parents house because it happened to be on the coffee table. I just feel like I needed to explain myself there. Anyways, if you're looking for a sweet, predictable, Amish setting romance, then this is for you. My husband is convinced it's Kristin Bell on the cover...but that's neither here nor there.
Anna the grandmother is at it again! She's brought her wayward grandson to Huckleberry Hill for the summer and hired a local girl to help in their home. But there's conf!it brewing with a ban to be put in place and humility to be learned.
Huckleberry Summer is a great addition to the Huckleberry series. I thought it had a good unique storyline. I look forward to the third installment of the series. 4 1/2 stars.
Good book. Aden is something nearly unheard of in the Amish community - an environmentalist and an activist. He cares deeply about the environment and animal welfare, and his actions frequently get him into trouble - including three arrests. Then a life-threatening accident sends him to his grandparents' home, looking for a fresh start. His grandmother Anna is thrilled to have him there and has just the woman in mind to settle him down.
Lily is the youngest of two daughters and a complete daddy's girl. She lives in fear of disappointing him, constantly worries about everything, and is dating the man her father recommends. When Anna asks Lily to work for her during the summer, Lily is hesitant to step outside her comfort zone. She has no idea how far out of that comfort zone she will be.
The first meeting between Aden and Lily did not go as Anna had hoped. Upon her arrival at Anna's home, Lily, afraid of dogs, was knocked down and thoroughly licked by Aden's undisciplined Goldendoodle, Pilot. After she makes her displeasure known, Aden, who is aware of his grandmother's plan, decides that he's not interested in a woman who clearly hates his dog. Undeterred, Anna takes every opportunity to throw Aden and Lily together. On the other hand, once Lily's dad hears of Aden's reputation, he's adamant that Lily avoid being around him.
Anna's tactics work very well, and I enjoyed seeing Lily and Aden get to know one another. It's a slow process because, quite frankly, Lily is a wimp. She's afraid of the water, getting dirty, children, and living outside her father's narrow view of being a "good girl." There are some sweet scenes of them together as Aden starts to break through Lily's fears. It's not long before Aden is thoroughly smitten and doing his best to live the kind of life Lily's dad would approve of.
Complicating matters, Lily's father pushes the bishop's son, Tyler Yoder, at her every chance he gets. Tyler is a nice guy, and Lily likes him. She understands his appeal as a good, steady man who doesn't make waves. Tyler and Aden become friends as well as rivals for Lily's hand.
When Aden hears about a puppy mill from his friend Jamal and is asked to help get the proof needed to take to the police, he is initially reluctant to risk his improving reputation. However, Jamal convinces him it should be safe, so he agrees. Unfortunately, Lily chooses this time to find her courage and insists on going along. Aden tries to dissuade her, but she won't be denied. Of course, nothing goes as planned, and all three end up arrested. Lily is terrified, furious, and stuck facing her father's anger and disappointment when he picks her up. He blames everything on Aden, convinces Lily she was led astray, and pushes her harder toward Tyler.
I ached for Aden. He is swamped with guilt over what happened to Lily and believes he deserves all of the disapproval heaped on him. I loved how he accepted responsibility and embraced the meted-out discipline. He hoped that when his shunning time was over that he would be able to fix things with Lily. My heart broke for him when he found out she had agreed to marry Tyler.
I was furious at Lily. She took no responsibility for her decision to go with Aden. Instead, she accepted her father's pronouncement that it was due to Aden's bad influence on her. Then agreeing to marry Tyler, who she didn't love, was terribly unfair to Tyler, who loves her. I was also angry at her father. He claims her troubles were caused by Aden manipulating her, but he's a fine one to talk. He keeps her under his thumb by bringing up the two traumatic events from her childhood whenever he feels her slipping away.
I cheered when Lily's sister, Estee, called Lily out on her hypocrisy. She pointed out that Lily was just as guilty, and blaming others doesn't change the truth. Lily was horrified when she realized what she had done and was determined to fix things. I loved seeing her grow a backbone and tell her father the truth about that night and her feelings and intentions. Her dad reacted exactly as she feared, and she had some big decisions to make. I loved watching the events of that evening unfold, from her trip to see Tyler to their visit to Aden. I loved their plan for the next day and couldn't wait to see the reactions - which were everything I could have hoped for. The ending was terrific.
This was my first book by this author, but it won't be the last. I look forward to reading more about Anna's matchmaking attempts.
This one really had me wondering how it was going to end. I knew Lily and Aden would end up together but didn't see how that was possible. But Grma Anna knew they were meant for each other - the take away from this story - we work hard to raise our children and teach them what they need to know to be successful adults and then struggle to let them make their choices and decisions - and sometimes they struggle too - but it is important to listen to your children and love them regardless of their choices. I loved the character if Aden and his good heart in protecting animals, the environment and other things - he was also willing to accept the consequences of his choices - he had a good heart. Lily was a sweet girl fearful of hurting her father and struggled understanding what she wanted - but in the end she chose to be her own person and stand for what was right. Great story.
I read the first book, Huckleberry Hill, and was hooked! Honestly, I don't normally like the Amish/Christian/Inspirational books but this series has been a nice surprise and this book was not a disappointment! And just to let you know, you SHOULD READ THEM IN ORDER! I almost didn't, I was going to skip right to #3 because nine people had a hold on this one at my library but I found another way to get it and I'm so glad that I did :) I'm so happy that there are somewhere around 9 books in this series! By the way, my favorite characters are Anna and Felty, in both of these books so far, although the first book I think is still my favorite, I love Moses lol and Leah is wonderful! But the characters in this one are good too, they just seem a little younger. Also, if you listen to the audiobook, the reader tends to mispronounce the names occasionally, like instead of Aiden she says Adam, and sometimes she says the wrong name entirely, but it was easy for me to tell who she meant.
LILY EICHER idolizes her father and wouldn’t think of doing anything to disappoint him. Even during her rumspringe, she didn’t step one toe outside of the Ordnung, the set of strict rules for Amish living. The Helmuths hire her to work for them on Huckleberry Hill, but not only is spending time with Aden Helmuth dangerous, it’s unsanitary. Their handsome grandson has a dog the size of a bear, determined to share all his dog germs with her. ADEN HELMUTH has a hard time following anyone’s rules but his own, which makes growing up Amish a bit of a challenge. After his life is spared by a miraculous event, his parents send him to Huckleberry Hill, hoping he will seek a life of devotion to God. Even though Lily Eicher hates his dog, she’s kind of cute in her efforts to be so well behaved. Will his past return to haunt him and destroy any hope he has for happiness, or will Lily take a chance on an uncommon and exceptional young man?
Book 3 in the series of Huckleberry Hill is Huckleberry Summer where we meet Aden, Anna and Felty Helmuth’s grandson, we will also meet Lily Eicher who striver to be the best daughter she can be, the example of a Proper Amish girl and would never dream of doing anything to disappoint her father who she idealizes. The problem is can she live her life and still maintain all those qualities she believes are set in stone by her farther to be a proper and gut Amish girl? And what about Aden who has quickly become someone she is drawn to and yet her father wants nothing to do with. Will Lily be able to find a way to built a bridge and be happy or will she melt to her Fathers way of thinking. Don’t miss the 3 book in the Huckleberry Hill Series. I will be looking forward to book 4 Huckleberry Spring.
Book #2 of 9. #352 pages or 9hrs 4min audiobook. This is more of my type of book. Clean, good, wholesome, Christan, & country kind of book. An Amish love story. Felty & Annie Bananie are so funny trying to match all their grandkids with people. Lilly hates dogs and the boys that works on her family's farm has a big bear of a dog. She's such a good girl and follows all the rules. She wants her dad to be happy so she marries the man he wants her to marry instead of following her heart (or does she?). Amish father's don't want their daughters to marry a man who has been to jail several times and being shunned. Author: Jenniferbeckstrand.com
