Tracy Silver wants to learn about her family history and the secrets of her parents. Through the use of a small bottle filled with a psychotic drug and an old family heirloom boot, she discovers them - and a lot more besides.
I will give this story 10/10 for drama, colour and originality, from 'a purple bathing suit...with a gash of fishnet...' to Tracy herself presiding in court as the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland the story and descriptions flow through fast and effectively.
One part I did like was when Michael (who was on trial) was advised to be quiet or he'd be held in contempt of court to which he replied: "I have nothing but contempt for this court."
I also liked the idea of a character who 'smelled deliciously awful, her scent a potpourri of perspiration and peppermint patties, burnt rubber and Bolognese sauce.' What a mixture!
In essence, Tracy tries to get the truth from Michael but to little avail. She tries to understand what part he played in her life.
I found it rather jumpy, rather odd at times. I think that was the nature of the drugs, I confess, I lost the plot, too and had to re-read some of it to pick it up.
As I said, It was very colorful and descriptive in its writing. There were some fun moments in the story.
