The exam is over and the students' summer break has started aboard a luxury cruise ship! Unfortunately, it's not all fun in the sun. Ryuuen is on the hunt for the person that attacked Kinoshita and Komiya on the island, and for some reason, the entire third-year class seems to be watching Ayanokouji very, very closely... Can everyone enjoy their vacation despite the rough waters ahead?
First of all, it wasn't as great as the other volumes since this is a special/extra volume, but I definitely couldn't just say it had nothing interesting to offer as I was able to confirm something very important to me that stayed in my mind since I read the first volume of the second year.
Ishigami Kyou is the leader of class 1-A and I have the feeling like he will be important for later, his description from a classmate that knows about him also seems a bit like he might be dangerous. In general, there are so many people that are working against Ayanokouji at the moment it's all so tense compared to the first volume where he worked more in the background and barely anyone knew about his true potential.
Kushida Kikyou is a bit too stupid than for me to actually believing that she will stay till the end. I mean she can't possibly think that she can expell not only Horikita and Ayanokouji but now even Yagami and Amasawa like it's so unrealistic and she should just face it that she is bipolar (and annoying).
I'm really anxious about the upcoming special exam as the teachers, especially Hoshinomiya-sensei and Chabashira-sensei seemed to feel rather uneasy themselves when they saw what the upcoming special exam will be. I really want to find out, like I'm so thrilled right now!
Overall, there were interesting moments and definitely some parts that are important for the plot later on so one shouldn't skip this book just 'cause it's an extra, but I didn't really got information that was important to the plot for the last three chapters. Chapter five was also a bit too much fan service for me which made it kinda exhausting reading all of that (though the one where they compared each sizes in the boy's steam bath was still way worse). Basically every extra volume has either fan service or something romantically going on which makes it not really enjoyable to read for me, but since it's just an extra and not meant to be a separate chapter I won't judge it too harshly after all.
This was fine. I kinda don't care much about this series now. Also, all the girls falling in love with ayanakoji is starting to get annoying. The things hinted at the end of the book were concerning though. I love good romance stuff so I hope it doesn't go awry.
Volume 4.5 of classroom of the elite is takes place on a cruise ship after the long and hard deserted island exam. While being sort of a filler volume, it still has a lot of content that was important to the main story. We got to see Ayanokoji faced with the problem of Nagumo, and being constantly watched by all of the third year students which was interesting. We also got to see Ryuen searching for the person who attacked his classmate. Overall, there were a lot of good moments in this volume and it was nice to see Ayanokoji get a little break and fun with the Ayanokoji group before they have to do another special exam that there school throws at them.
"The only thing I was certain of was that I was more nervous right now than when I squared off against Tsukishiro during the uninhabited island exam."
Classroom of the Elite: Year 2 Vol. 4.5 By Syougo Kinugasa.
The Uninhabited Island has finally ended, and the students are enjoying their vacation in a luxury cruise. Summer vacation is in full effect. Well, this volume was somewhat slow paced. Basically, this worked as a break from all the things going on with the story even though there were a lot of important things in the volume. The best part of this book was the personal interactions and the development of the characters.
The treasure hunt was okay, nothing too special or anything. In reality. I would say it was kinda boring and yet not boring. It's the interactions that made the experience good. Ayanokoji is certainly getting more popular among the students, a thing he didn't want to happen, which is sad for him but good for us, the readers. Not to mention, the trouble of whiteroom student continues. And what can I say about the private pool part? It was funny to read. Even Ayanokoji can be tempted.
"Despite Ichinose’s firm determination to never let her smile falter, her eyes were clearly growing misty, beginning to fill with an abundance of tears."
The interaction between Ayanokoji and Ichinose certainly happened like a storm. Well, bad luck for Ichinose. Man, this volume was full of girls trying to get Ayanokoji. The dude has become a menace. On the other hand, Ayanokoji and Kei's relation is once again developing. Cheers for that! Though the last paragraph of the monologue was concerning, to say the least.
Nagumo is now directly interfering with Ayanokoji, and their fight might happen soon. I'm looking forward to that as Nagumo's tactics are annoying for Ayanokoji, putting him at a disadvantage at it seems.
The volume builds up the next special test to a great extent. The conversation between the teachers surely piqued my interest for the next exam. I hope there's more information about Chabashira and Hoshinomiya. Their beef is certainly one to look forward to.
I debated whether to review these books out of order, despite having the full set, but I'm not going to note the "read" date unless I do, since--other than this one--I read them all prior to starting on Goodreads.
This is the to-date latest installment of the "bizarre boarding school where no one is allowed to leave the school or receive outside contact for the entire time they are still enrolled and also there are regular tests upon failure of which expulsion is almost guaranteed" school, which is normally exciting, but the ".5" novels are consistently filler. Unfortunately for anyone on a budget, there's just enough relationship development between the characters that skipping these will likely mean missing out on some key information that will be helpful to know later.
Maybe. We'll see.
The stated goal of these half- volumes is to catch up on the interpersonal tidbits that the "main" novels don't have a chance to explore, like Ayanokoji's relationship with Karuizawa (spoiler: STEAMY). Most of these are hit-or-miss. The most interesting part is the treasure hunt, and how it secretly plays into Horikita's plans, though unfortunately there's no way to show off all the prize finds, and also Ayanokoji doesn't even bother looking at the riddles they received after immediately dismissing them as red herrings leading to lesser prizes (only one redemption per team).
I don't hate this volume, but I won't remember anything that happened in it other than the treasure hunt, for certain. (Well, and the last few pages.) Recommend if you can get it free/cheap or aren't particularly concerned about how much you're spending on this series. Absolutely not recommended if you haven't read at least most of the prior books, ideally in order.
Results of the Island exam are in and it's a relaxing time on the ship now, well there can't ALWAYS be fun relaxing times so the school offers a plan of a treasure hunt to find QR codes to get points and Kiyotaka gets roped into doing it and gets paired with Sato of all people, the girl who confessed to him, who Kei has told she's dating Kiyotaka and is probably the closest thing to a best friend the two have at this moment. And Sato is adorable in this, getting closer to Kiyotaka just in case Kei breaks up with him, little does she know though there's a confession that's beat her to the punch already that he needs to deal with.
This nearly broke me though, this is one of the kindest, sweetest and most adorably gentle girls in the world and she deserves all the happiness in the world. Remember a while back when I said I hated Nagumo. Yeah is this why. His interruption of that resolution and revelation that he knows about Kei and Kiyotaka is cruel, vindictive and a second attempt at trying to break this character to make her his plaything, as I've said he's a retarded version of Light Yagami, having a beautiful girl to play with is what a retard version of Light would do and I hate him for that.
I really enjoyed this book so far. I loved getting a glimpse into certain characters more than others. Some of my suspicions about characters were confirmed as well, and my hatred for other characters (namely, Nagumo) only intensified. He's every bit of a loser as I thought he was.
I will always love getting to read more about Kei and Kiyotaka's relationship. The moments they had in this volume were incredibly cute, and I look forward to seeing them develop.
After enjoying this book as much as I did, the very end completely took the wind out of my sails. And it's something I'm not looking forward to at all...
the only reason this rating is as high as it is is because it gets carried by all the leg work of what has previously been done. If the ending scene is true and Tsukishiro is leaving the school it might be the nail in the coffin. I feel conflicted because things I have seen make me question the faith I have in Kinu, but what I've heard about the end of y2 is somewhat promising? Idk I don't really have any sort of motivation to continue this series so I might take a break from it.
Again summer vacations like the previous year and swimsuits illustration again. im curious if it will be the same even in third year. Well it was more of a chill volume but nontheless some things happened. And in the end we discivered that the second whiteroom student is Yagami. I actually already knew from youtube and instagram which is a little sad because i didnt discover it but its still interesting because now that its revealed something will definitely happen. Welp im excited to see their "battle"

A good half story to finish of this section of the story. I liked the fact it had a lot more personal development for the characters - it felt like it had more content than the previous longer books. It gave a good feel for where the characters are currently at and and gave a good prelude for what's to come.
I gave this one a slightly lower rating because it's beginning to look more like a "Harem Of The Elite"... Every girl seems to fall in love with Ayanokoji, which is understandable I guess, but it's kinda weird...
I still enjoy reading it though, because I'm invested in the characters and Ayanokoji's story. Also, the twisted thinking at the end was... 💀
This one is basically the interlude between the island special exam and start of new semester. Mostly light-hearted closure of loose ends and setup for what’s to come. It was good.
So many of the female characters are annoying af (but especially the teachers and anyone who cares about romance). Ayanokoji and K are cute 🥺 WAIT WTF??? That ending???
Not much important things happened here, but some things are revealed: - Yagami Takuya is the one who left the note that horikita saw. Also the one who pushed Komiya. - Kurachi has been trailing Ayano besides kushida in fight between Ayano and Nanase because he has been ordered by Yagami. Maybe I missed other things.
