Steamy encounters in the bathhouse have been the stuff of erotic legend for centuries, just ask Spartacus! Shane Allison turns the stereotype on its ear in Steam Bath, a rollicking romp of pretty boys and dashing daddies doing it. From fresh faced twinks to to silver foxes and beautiful bears, Shane delivers sensational stories where every man is naked all the time! A towel-snapping good read, Steam Bath is filled with sizzling porn bodies, sexy boys next door, and tantalizing tricks that fully capture the erotic dynamic of between men. Rob Rosen turns up the heat once again in his new tale, “The Key.” A young detective sets out to investigate the disappearance of a young twink, but finds more than what he ever thought imaginable in Logan Zachary’s “Incubus Steam.” A tattooed bad boy gets taught a “hard” lesson in Eric Del Carlo’s “Steam Punk.” A mind is not the only thing that gets blown in Rafaelito V. Sy’s “Raf’s Journey.” Things get hot and heavy when a college professor and one of his horny students stumble upon a European steam bath in Jarrett Neal’s “The Chaperones.”
Steam Bath was a fun and sweaty read. This collection of stories revolves around saunas / steam rooms, whether they be in a bathhouse, a gym, or, as in one story, ancient Rome. The setting is something out of porn (and, for some, real life), of often-anonymous sex in semi-public places. The heat and sweat get you going and the sexy fun unfolds from there.
The collection of stories Allison pulls together is particularly strong. Like any anthology, there is a mix of styles and abilities on display — but in Steam Bath, even the weakest story is still strong. Some stories, like Incubus Steams, were interesting, but not quite to my personal taste… I’m still trying to figure out the ending on that one. Others, such as The Chaperones, mentioned in the cover blurb above were quite hot. A particular favourite is The Gay Dude, though the comical use of the word “dude” is overdone partway through — past that word, though, is a quick-flowing story that sees two supposedly-straight men accidentally stumble into a bathhouse.
Excellent compilation of M/M erotica with a bathhouse theme. Each stories is about 10 pages long (PDF). Like any other anthology, some stories stand out more. The stories I like best are the ones that invoke some emotional response and leave an impact.
Arnie's Ass by Troy Storm 3* Short, hot, sexy read. Two coworkers went to the bathhouse to unwind after a long day at work. Arnie fell asleep and his coworker met a hot, sexy older man. They proceed to lure Arnie into a threesome.
The Real End of It by Shaun Levin 4* This one leaves you a feeling of finality and maturity in a lesson-learned way with a negligible heart throb of regret at what might have been. The main character met his past love, Martin, at a bathhouse after years of separation. As they proceed to have a threesome, the main character decided to end his love for Martin.
The Key by Rob Rosen 5* This story is one of favorite. It feels complete and has a HEA ending. I like the description of the exclusive bathhouse club called RAIN. I can imagine a whole series of erotica shorts at this club. The main character finds a key labeled "RAIN" dropped by his crush at the office. He hatches a plan to steal his crush's credit card and meet him at the bathhouse.
Incubus Steams by Logan Zachary 3* This is a hot steamy read with a promising premise. Sadly, most of it is implied. A detective walked into Incubus Steams to find more info on a case of missing young men.
Steam Punk by Eric Del Carlo 3.5* A sweet and fluffy read. Assertive, tough guy meets a punk who has bad luck with sex partners.

Steambath: Sweaty Gay Erotica is an anthology inspired by one of the most powerful facets of gay culture prior to AIDS. The bathhouse was the place to find sex. Lots of sex. Hot sex. Sweaty sex. But then the killer disease came. The bathhouses became places of death. They're still around, but nothing like they once were. The memories of the 1970s and the glory of the sweat lingers on in gay history. Editor Shane Allison's collection brings those memories back in vivid, lurid, pulsing detail. The authors here either lived it or dug deep into their imaginations to find it. The stories here are marvelous. Evocative, erotic, sexy, cocky, and sweaty, Allison has put together a fine mix of tales. The sex is hot and the bodies mingle in the glory of what was one of the finest pieces of gay history going.
Really???? It was like the same story over and over
