For a group of friends, one mistake changed the course of their lives forever. In the aftermath of a tragic school shooting, the group must find their own form of justice and a way to begin healing from a wound that just won’t stop hurting. For them, the lines were drawn. Right and wrong became blurred. Friends became enemies. Told from the perspective of four friends, we learn how one student’s revenge reigned terror over a school and a community-- causing secrets to unfold and relationships to be tested. A compelling and powerful story about a school shooting. A must read.
Zachary Ryan grew up in a black-and-white box in Maryland, before moving to Chicago to start a new life. There, he found that he was accepted for his misfit status—and learned that it’s perfectly normal to spend your twenties feeling lost and confused.
After a disastrous sexual encounter, Ryan stumbled on a group of true friends, or “soul cluster,” that he connected with. Through his writing, he hopes to help other broken souls out there find comfort amid the chaos.
Another book from Zachary Ryan based on high school drama, but unlike his previous trilogy The High School Queens, this book offers a lot more than the juicy show. The group of five friends torn apart; when one of them kills ten people in the school. The story revolves around the remaining four friends' struggles to deal with their new reality.
I personally like the author's writing style. He makes the book fast-paced and enjoyable. I do find some grammatical errors in this one, and I hope not to see it in his other books. The language is lucid, and if you're into high school books where characters deal with bullies, fake images, blackmailing, hiding their true selves, then this YA book is ideal for you. I recommend it.
“We were a band of misfits trying to find love and acceptance in the world. Only to find out that what we were looking for was at a dirty, disgusting table during fifth period lunch.”
I opened the book and these lines fascinated me the most. Part of it is also tagline of the story. I will briefly summarise the blurb. There is a group of friends in a freshman year. Author Zachary is one of the characters. Lane, Zachary, Ben, Cass etc. are the main characters and story has been written from their perspectives. There are other important characters also such as Jerel, Gabe etc. Name of the characters are bit different than usual one. I liked that. Something happened in the school. Ben, Zachary, Lane and Cass were discussing that over on a table. Everyone was trying to avoid the subject. One person was shot at the school two weeks ago. That caused a major impact in their lives. Everyone expected them to move on. But they can’t as the fifth place on the table, or the fifth member of the group Gabe was the one who pulled trigger. Read the book to know how all of these happened and how this incident impacted on their lives. The tale is about thier friendship and how one incident impacted their lives and friendship. At one point how all the best friends became enemies to one another. That has been perfectly described. I liked the plot. Author has created nice mystery in the first chapter itself. That immediately grabbed my attention. The narration style of the author is smooth so story will instantly go into our head. I liked use of vocabulary and language used by the author. There are number of twists and turns plotted that makes it interesting. The story has been written from multiple people’s point of view and it’s difficult to narrate it that way because it can be confusing. But author has done amazing job. Overall good one. Recommended from my side.
Silent Screams is emotional. Although the story could use a little more polishing, it was a very powerful and emotional tale. Just be ready to grab the tissues once in a while as the pain and angst these teens feel coping with the aftermath of a school shooting and their lives in general oozes off the page. Highly recommend for anyone who remembers high school being rough or just wants to feel a little less alone with the things they're struggling with as a teen.
There was a school shooting and a group of friends are affected. Follow them as they try to come to terms to it all for all of them. It will affect them all in different ways
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Silent Screams is fiction about 5 high school friends, precisely lunchtime buddies. They believe they know each other reasonably well until one of them committed a shooting at the school and kill 10 people.
They are all in the soup in their lives. Zachary and her theatre, Ben and his perfect image, Cass and her social standing based off of Jarele, Gabe and Lane just being social misfits. And the episode in school entirely devastates them. What chewed them up more was, someone from their own group did that.
Amounting to their remorse and trauma, everyone has been seeing Gabe even after he died in the shooting.
Lane who has yet not come out to the world loses his love Coelby in the shooting and now, he feels he is to be blamed since he knew about the shooting plans. But how?
Pick up the novel to know who amongst them did this abominable act and why?
This is my fourth read by Zachary Ryan and I love his writing method because it is constantly very loosening for me to read his books though this one was serious. His choice of expressions is particularly fluent, flowy and fast.
The book talks about bullying, insecurities and coping up from trauma. It has expressed how bullying can take a disastrous form.
The emotional gush of every character is moving and palpable. I felt attached to Cass particularly because she was going through some big relationship dilemmas that so many of us often go through. Expressing those difficult emotions into a layman's word is something Ryan is really good at.
The entirely hooking plotline with pressing and powerful topic to talk about.
Recommended to all those who love reading High School Dramas and Young Adult books.

“When people hurt you over and over, think of them like sandpaper. They may scratch and hurt you a bit, but in the end, you end up polished and they end up useless.” –Chris Colfer

Review - First of all, I would like to thanks the author Zachary for providing me his review copy. I am really happy to have his books on my kindle shelf. I choose to read this book by looking at its cover and title of the book which seems a bit intriguing. This is the second book I skim of this author, the first one is 'High school Queens' a suspense thriller. Silent Screams is also a cliff-hanger book with lots of twists and turns. The reality of the characters which are so relatable makes the plot more fascinating. This book is all about self-defense for instability and fights with an inner demon for their inner peace and I must say this is the perfect book for teenagers and adults as well as for parents too who face tormenting and bullying during their high school/university. In this book, the author aims to cover every topic that a teenager face during high school, and he tried to illustrate it in the form of a story. The book is basically about inner voice, companionship, love, betrayal, trust, needs, etc. I really like the way the author plotted each and every character of the story in a sequence manner.
The title of the book is captivating and perfectly depicted the content of the book. Silent Scream is an intense book with a significant story.
The cover design of the book is sober yet beautifully described the companionship between high school students.
The wordings and vocabulary of the book are susceptible.
The narration of the book is lucid with good characterization and an understandable plot. Apart from thi,s there is a hidden message for all readers in this story to fight with our inner demon.
Overall, I recommend this book to all suspense lovers, teenagers, and all readers in our bookstagram community to appreciate the author's work, So that he can write more for us. Ryan endures with some personal issues with true friends, so He decided to help some broken souls who suffer the same situation out there through his writings...
Silent Screams by Zachary Ryan follows the lives of four secondary school companions compelled to grow up because of a school shooting. Lane battles with whether to come out to his companions while grieving the loss of his sweetheart. Cass battles to discover somebody to spare her from her home life. Zachary manages losing what she thinks makes her unique. Ben discovers his life of extravagance detached away and battles to figure who he is without it. Being companions with the shooter, these four understudies fight with their own evil presences while endeavoring to adapt to the blame and duty they feel for their companion's activities.
The crude feeling and reality of the characters is something that is exceptional in this book. I commend Zachary Ryan for making such blemished characters that are so relatable. Each character manages something other than what's expected and laments in an exceptional manner. Each character, even foundation ones, experience so much character advancement and truly grow up and figure out how to trust and rely upon one another. We get the chance to see through each character's eyes through perspective changes that happen every chapter. It's reviving in a manner since you get the chance to see into the core of every one of the four principle characters and see their deepest privileged insights and instabilities. Silent Screams is a tale about companionship, love, instabilities, trust, and the risks of keeping insider facts in for a really long time. I delighted in this book, this book is completely pleasant.
Silent Screams was an exciting ride of feelings from start to finish. I am not afraid to concede I cried a few times. This is such a book that when you start it you can't set down until you've completed it. I don't know that I will categorise this as a feel happy and good story yet it, at last leaves you feeling fulfilled and revived.
Summary: In the aftermath of a tragic school shooting, the group must find their own form of justice and a way to begin healing from a wound that just won’t stop hurting. Told from the perspective of four friends, we learn how one student’s revenge reigned terror over a school and a community-- causing secrets to unfold and relationships to be tested.
My Opinion: I love YA dramatic stories so much because they really remind me of my college and high school days, it's probably the best time for all of us but it's not for the friends in the story. Last few days before the graduation, a group of friends comes into focus as one of them performs a crime of school shooting and things starts to change, life of all the other four friends swirl and now nothing is easy. Ben, Cass, Jarele, Zachary and lastly Gabe, this book is definitely so interesting and so much gripping. The story had my attention right from the first page as it proceeds and it gives out those thrilling vibes all over. I am really happy that an important topic is being discussed here through a fictional, well written tale.
Good and Bad: I loved the connections between the characters and I also loved the amazing character building. It's indeed a great story.
My favorites from the book:
I loved the crispy twists and turns that added constant spice to thr story and also how every life changed in a way after the tragic incident makes it more engaging. I think transformations from one phase to another is well done and that's my favorite.
Target Audience: Young readers will relate and enjoy it more. Also, people who love high school drama and thrillers should read it.
What to expect: Drama, twists, nostalgia, fun, friendship and bondings.
Final verdict: I think everyone should try this book, because it's totally worth giving a shot. Read it.
What would you do if your best friend shot dead 10 kids from your school? Will, you sympathize with him as he was going through stuff? or you will hate him and call him monster just like everyone?
Silent Screams is the 4th book I'm reading of the author Zachary Ryan and like always he had captured my attention from the very start of the book with his amazingly written and gripping story.
Author Zachary Ryan is a talented and skilled writer, and through his writing, he not only expresses the emotions but also defines the issues that everyone faces but is not ready to speak about it, issues in a very relatable manner.
Every person deals with their own issues and sometimes it becomes difficult to share that with our loved ones or other times we choose to not say about it, similarly the author Zachary Ryan has mentioned this in his book Silent Screams, where 4 friends trying to deal with their 5th friend who shot dead 10 kids in their school.
The story is very compelling and to make the book even more interesting, all the chapters are written through the perspective of the 4 main characters. So it was easy and interesting to read what each one of them felt and what they were going through.
The highlight of the book is, the characters are different from each other and each character are facing their own issues but the author Zachary Ryan has described them with care and so much passion. You can see his professionalism with his writing skills, as while reading one moment you will feel sad and immediately another moment you will smile with the minor details.
The book is written in lucid and easy to visualized language. The cover of the book is beautiful and the title of the book is a perfect suit for this storyline.
Overall I loved reading this book and can't wait to read other books written by the author Zachary Ryan.
The most vulnerable time of our life is our teenage. __ In our teenage period we often fall in love, do mischief, we lie, we hide various things, we get jealous and a whole lot of peer pressure that we used to suffer from. We make friends, and unfortunately, sometimes enemies are turned out from them. But we learn various valuable lessons from them. And all that becomes a memory one day and we laugh high on that and move further in life. __ Likewise, I recently read the book name “Silent Screams” by Zachary Ryan. In the book, the author talks about college life days. Their friendship, bonding, and dreams they shared. They were best buddies. The author plays a vital role in the story. As he itself is part of the story. They were five buddies in the group and they were always in mischief and joyful nature. But one incident left them a shock. By then the situation becomes Misérables and life turned the tables down. One person has shot at the school two weeks ago. That caused a major impact on their lives. Everyone expected them to move on. But they can’t as the fifth place on the table, or the fifth member of the group Gabe was the one who pulled the trigger. __ What happened next? Why that incident took place? What do you think that what the end of the story is supposed to be? __ To know the answers you should definitely read this book. __ Writing styling and the language of the book is good. Vocab used in the book is also moderate. The storyline was built smoothly. The plot was quite different and unique. I would definitely love to recommend this book to all people who love to read stories based on college life and buddies. Also, by wrapping my view on this book I must say that cover of the book relates much with the storyline and also simple and sensible. Overall I liked the book. __ Rate 🌟🌟🌟🌟 / 5
Ratings - 4.5/5 2 Months back I was buying some books and there was this book in my recommendation list. I saw the cover, read the title but passed on. A few days back I saw many Instagram posts about this book so I was very curious to read this and finally I got the opportunity to read this out. The “Silent Screams” as the title suggests the screams which no one can hear gives a total mystery vibe. The cover being a creative and relevant to the story. It is a story about a group of friends who make a mistake which they are unaware of and is going to change their lives. Two months ago, one of their classmates was fired from college. They try to get past that. Often, these teens get confused and anxious. They prefer to lie to one another, to hide data and to turn against each other. 'Silent Screams' represents how something or the other is already happening in our minds and how in a few moments we just want to scream but we can't. How the characters in the story scream for help in silence. With tension dripping over the pages, the seamless narrative adds to the intense storey line. In preserving the suspense throughout the pages, the author did a fantastic job and revealed the mystery of timely events. The plot line is really fascinating and the scenarios can actually be visualised by the reader. As the storey gets more exciting with every turn of a page, the events unfold smoothly and there is a lot more in store for readers. I totally loved the book. I would definitely recommend you all to read this book. I would like to thank author for giving me such an experience through the book
This book is based on the story of a friends group of “Lane”, “Zachary”, “Ben”, “Cass” and “Gabe”. They are in the same school and all of them relies from a freshman year. I know one of the character of this book is author itself but it makes it even more interesting to read because it filled a realistic feel in this fictional book.
Everything seems normal but mnot everything goes that fine for so long because someone was shot down at the school and culprit is one of these 5 friends and it will caused a major impact in all of their lives. But who did this? In which circumstances did he do that? What happened next with their lives and friendship after that? For knowing you guys should dive into this book by yourself and find.
This book is filled with a lot of things like Friendship, Incidents, Crime, Pain e.t.c. Which makes it a perfect read for a fictional lovers.
Narration of this book is feels a bit bad at starting of the book but as we proceed further in the story it started making sense afterwards and storyline is also well paced so it makes it even more engaging.
Storyline of this book is surely define a nice mystery and pulled attention of readers towards it for sure. But somewhere the real impact of the story is missing. Book cover looks pretty astonishing and the title is totally apt. to the story written in it
Overall I liked reading it and it was an decent read for me
📚The book is about the life of group of friends who are freshman year students. Author Zachary is also one of the character in this story.
🖌The story is about how one tragic incident changed the course of lives of school friends. The tale is about their friendship and how one incident deeply impacted their personal lives, school lives and their friendship.
🖌The story begins from the point where a character named Gabe has shot some school students. This one incident changed their life completely. The other 4 friends have to deal with the shame, guilt, and regret. They became totally withdrawn towards studies, daily life activities. Distances drew them apart.
🖌The title “Silent Screams” is very apt, captivating and has deep meaning. It shows how one or the other thing is always consuming our thoughts, blowing our head and how desperately we want to scream out loudly in some situations, but we are unable to. It highlights how the characters in the story are screaming for help internally and silently. They are seeking for immediate help through their actions but refusing it when someone asks while their mind still feels like it is burdened and about to explode.
💙The author @zacharyryanbooks has done a wonderful job in presenting a dynamic world, adding many beautiful emotions to it.
📚I would recommend you all to read this book. It will take you back to those college days and old memories will start flashing back. It will be a feel good experience.
Starting from the cover of the book it describes the companionship between high skool students. Silent Screams is fiction about five friends from high school, lunchtime buddies in particular. They think that until one of them perpetrated a shooting at school and killed 10 people, they know each other fairly well. They are absolutely shattered by an episode at school. What chewed them up more was that someone did that from their own party.
In addition to their remorse and trauma, they all saw Gabe right after he died in the shooting.
Lane, who hasn't come out to the world yet, loses Coelby 's love in the shooting and now, because he heard about the shooting plans, he thinks he's to be blamed. Oh, but how?
The fact of such relatable characters makes the story more interesting. This book is all about self-defense for instability and battling for their inner peace with an inner demon, and I have to say this is the perfect book for teens and adults as well as parents who during their high school / university face torment and bullying. With strong characterisation and an understandable plot, the description of the book is vivid. The author tries to cover any subject a teenager faces in high school and attempts to explain it in the form of a novel. Overall, to all suspense lovers, teens, and all readers in our bookstagram community, I suggest this book to appreciate the work of the author, so that he can write more for us. Happy reading.
" Sometimes its better not to think about our problems. Its good to feel clueless about this world."
A young adult fiction about five high school friends who believe they know each other well enough until one of them committed a shooting at school which leads to killing of ten students.
Told from the perspective of four friends - Zachary, Lane, Ben and Cass this compelling story tells us how these characters try to find solace and heal from the trauma and overcome remorse while renewing their bonds.
A story as to how teenagers try to find a place where they belong, try to fit in and hide their secrets from everything in flesh and bones. A band of misfits trying to find love and acceptance in a world which them messed up.
I enjoyed the narration, the dialogue was pretty crisp and there was linear flow throughout the story with a fluent choice words for expression. The chapters are short and are approached with multiple point of views.
The plotline gets you hooked and the book talks about pressing, palpable and powerful topics like insecurities bullying and trauma.
Recommended to anyone who enjoys reading high school dramas and young adults.
qotd: If you had a chance to kill someone who wronged would you seek revenge or forgive, forget and move on? *i'm not a murderer lol not yet ;) •
By - Zachary Ryan Publisher - Kingston Publishing Company Genre - Literature & Fiction My Rating – 4.6/5
Zachary Ryan's Silent Screams centers around four friends — Lane, Zachary, Ben and Cass who are trapped in the same situation. One of their classmates had been fired at school two months before. They try to push beyond it but things don't always go the way we want them to go. These teens are often confused and nervous. They tend to lie to each other, hide information and turn against each other. 'Silent Screams' is a reflection of how something or the other still happens in our mind and how we just want to scream in a few moments but we can't. Silently, how the characters in the story scream for support. They prove it by their acts when their minds still feel like it is about to burst.
The book's vocabulary is great & the way author narrated this story is appreciable and the book's language is so simple that even if you're a novice, you’ll understand it completely. The book will teach you how important our actions are and how important it is to keep one person accountable. Overall the book is really great and I loved how the story wrapped up the mysteries. Highly recommended to those who love mysteries. Happy Reading.

Silent Screams is a lot emotional. It was a very strong and emotional tale. Just be ready to grab the tissues once in a while as these teenagers feel the pain and fear dealing with the effects of a school shooting and their lives are usually oozing off the screen. Highly recommended to anyone who feels high school is tough or just needs to feel a little less alone with the things they deal with as a teenager.
I love the writing style of the author because reading his books is constantly really loosening for me, but this one was extreme. His choice of expressions is particularly fluent, fluid and simple.
I love YA dramatic stories so much because they really remind me of my days at college and high school. It's probably the best time for us all, but it's not for the storey 's friends. A group of friends focuses on the last few days before graduation when one of them carries out a school shooting crime and things start to change, the lives of all the other four friends swirl and now nothing is easy. This book is certainly so fascinating, so much so, Ben, Cass, Jarele, Zachary and finally Gabe.
Trigger Warning: Violence . Silent Screams . Zachary Ryan . Genre : Young Adult . This book comes with a a trigger warning because the content within is very brutal. This book has us hooked on the first chapter itself and revolves around a group of four friends Zachary, Lane, Cass and Ben. The length of this book is 231 pages and it narrated from multiple point of views because of which we get to know all the characters up close and personal. . All the main characters are highschool friends and their is highschool frenzy and energy all around. One of the friends had committed a crime by shooting people in their school which has changed their life up and down and a huge chaos is awaiting them. This books is a very well written thriller. . It revolves around trauma , friends , family , crime , bullying and how they have blurred boundaries and taps into the grey area of human nature and psychology where nothing is black and white. Overall , I recommend this book but only if you're okay with the trigger warnings mentioned above. The language of this book is cohesive and easy so you can pick it up even if you're a beginner.
• The book is about how one mistake changed the life of some of the school friends. There are many characters in the book but the main are Zachary, Ben, Cass and Gabe. There is a lot of teenager drama in the book which we can find relatable. There are things which these teenagers are hiding from each other and they can’t share it. This book is a full package of all sort of things like friendship, love, crime, etc. Everything was going good and suddenly something happens which left everyone shocked. One of them from the group of five-shot 10 kids. If you want to know more about this incident, you must read this book. I loved the writing style of Zachary Ryan a lot. I was able to resonate with the things written in the book. 🌺Who should read it: 🍃If you love reading something that you can relate to. 🍃If you love books with a lot of twists and turn. 🍃If you want to read something light yet dealing with a lot of issues, then this book is a must-read. 🍃If you love reading high school dramas. •
My Review: Silent Screams is the second book that I am reading written by the author Zachary Ryan. Before this, I have read Thirst Trap. In Silent Screams, there are five main characters in the story: Zachary, Gabe, Ben, Cass, Lane. The book plot is built up around teenagers who are in college.
