As a professional race car driver, Lissa Walker is used to dealing with all sorts of threats. But when a dognapper starts targeting her hometown, she'll do anything to protect her corgi Bella—refusing to take chances. Even if that means hiring Damien Trent, an arrogant, too-smart-for-his-own-good know-it-all. Who also happens to be the one who broke her heart so many years ago.
Damien isn't too thrilled about taking a job that would require him to work in close quarters with Lissa, let alone one that would require him to be a doggy bodyguard. Unfortunately, for the sake of his company's reputation, he has no choice but to stick it out.
The history between the two provides much more friction than any race track ever could, but they'll have to put their past differences aside to keep little Bella safe. Everything else--including the new feelings surging between them--will just have to wait. Can they take it slow and steady when both are so tempted to zoom full-speed ahead?
Each Celebrity Corgi Romance stands alone, but they’re definitely more fun if you read the whole series together. Get your copy of Digging the Driver and book your romantic escape today!
Elsie Davis is a USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR of over 25 novels. She writes sweet, clean & wholesome contemporary romance and is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writer's association. At the age of twelve, Elsie discovered the world of Happily-Ever-After romance when she began avidly reading Barbara Cartland, the Queen of Romance, and has been hooked ever since. After building her dream log home on top of a small mountain, she turned her attention to do what she loves most...writing. Three daughters, five grandchildren, and her own hero husband, keep her extremely busy. When Elsie's not glued to the keyboard, she loves boating, birding, camping, fishing, wildlife, disc golf and nature walks. Basically, all things outdoors, EXCEPT cold weather. Her and her husband love Caribbean cruises, but Elsie’s favorite vacation was their cruise to Alaska. (In spite of the cold!) Indoors, she enjoys a toasty fire, a glass of red wine, and of course, a great romance (Hallmark-Style) with a guaranteed Happily-Ever-After.
Digging the Driver is a fetching romance. Digging the Driver can be read as a standalone if you have not indulged in Flirting with the Fashionista. I enjoyed this entertaining story. There is romance, mystery, and an adorable Corgi named Bella. Lissa Walker is a professional racecar driver who constantly must prove herself. She is a female in a man’s world. I like that Lissa is a strong, intelligent female with nice personality and a plus-sized figure. She supports a local animal shelter and is for female empowerment. Damien Trent was one of Lissa’s best friends in high school until her parent’s made it big in the video game industry and an incident drove them apart. When you do not communicate it can cause problems as we see in Digging the Driver. I enjoyed Elsie Davis’s writing style and the story just raced along at a snappy pace. However, there were some discrepancies in the story (details mixed up) and it was never explained why the other dogs were taken. The mystery added depth and intrigue to the story. I liked that Ruby from Flirting with the Fashionista is in the story and we get an update on her life. We are introduced to Prince Dorian Tennesley who is featured in Romancing the Royal. Digging the Driver is a cute, humorous story with cute Corgi, a dangerous dognapper, fast cars, the sizzling security specialist, and a lady with a need for speed.
What a fabulous storyline and characters in this book. This was so full of excitement, happiness and of course a happily ever after. Stories that include the characters and their furbabies is one of my most favorite to read because it's such a joy to see how much those furbabies play a part in their humans having a happily ever after ending. This story was even more exciting because the main character is a race car driver, Lissa, who takes risk with every race but when it comes to her wonderful corgi she doesnt take risk at all. Grab your copy today and read the story and see how her corgi is protected from kidnappers and how finding love is just as important as winning a race. This is a page turner for sure
I really enjoyed the story. It includes some mystery, romance, and suspense. I grew a little tired of everyone jumping to unwarranted conclusions, resulting in lots of misunderstandings.
Lissa is a race car driver (the unusual career was a draw for me from the beginning!). She has a corgi named Bella whom she wants to ensure is not dognapped as there have been numerous dognapping incidents lately. She hires a security firm and Damien comes to help protect her precious dog. But Lissa and Damien have a history, and it didn’t end well! When Bella is taken, their relationship again is strained.
This is the first book I’ve read from this author. Although I enjoyed the writing and the storyline, I wondered why other dogs were being taken when there was no ransom requested. Lissa seemed to have a lot of issues with Damien, but then they get engaged within weeks of reconnecting. I think the story was not completely thought out and the little discrepancies bothered me. If I told myself to ignore these, I enjoyed the writing and story.
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely.
I really liked this new series and I especially liked Digging the Driver. I liked that Lissa Walker is a race car driver, which is not your usual role for a female. She almost has two personalities. The one she showed the public of an outgoing, strong female and a softer side that she showed her true friends. It was nice to see how much she cared for shelter or rescue animals.
This story had it all. Cute corgis, sexy characters, chemistry and romance, dognappers, and mysteries. There is also an appearance of Ruby Ross from the first book in the series which I really enjoyed. There was not anything that I did not like. This is also the first book I have read by this author and I loved her story and want to read more books by her. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I enjoyed this entertaining read. A fun story line is paired with likable charcters to create a book that will hold your attention and leave you with a smile on your face and a lightened up heart. There is lots of tension between Lissa and Damien because of heavy baggage from their past history. Both of these characters employed gruffness and walls to protect their soft hearts from hurts old and new, so they had much work to do on the road to a HEA. I found it very easy to root for these two as a couple. Bella, was all kinds of adorable and added cuteness and charm to the story. Emotional turmoil, suspense, drama, humor and sweetness are woven throughout to help deliver a real winner of a romance. This is my frank, freely posted review.
1st I've read in this series. Bella sounds like a great companion for Lissa. Their bond defiantly runs deep. Damien & Lissa's past continues to creep into the present. Lissa has a lot going on in her life and Damien is truly trying to help her, but past experiences keep them from trusting most people. I was surprised at the kidnapper, though I probably shouldn't have been, my mind kept going to someone else for some reason. Glad I was wrong in the thought, I really like the person I was thinking of.
This story is about the several facets of forgiveness: forgiveness of assumptions and misunderstandings, forgiveness of anger and rudeness and, perhaps best of all, forgiveness of lost time and delayed happiness. A small Corgi named Bella is the center of the story as well as the drama and suspense that lead to sweet forgiveness.
I received a free advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review. I enjoyed the tension and suspense of this story that had a surprise twist. It’s a very good story.
This is the first time I have read one of this author’s books but there will be more in the future! I read this in one day because I was so taken with the story of Lissa and Damien! Throw in a cute little corgi and someone out to cause trouble and I just had to keep reading! The backstory of Lissa and Damien and a teenage misunderstanding added interest. The characters were real and relatable. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes to read a fun, entertaining and clean story! I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a review.
Lissa is strong woman in the male dominated sport of racing. She has only one weakness, Bella, her corgi. When a dog napping ring is on the loose she hires a security guard to protect Bella. The protectors of Bella ends up being her former best friend. Damien has no love loss for Lissa and thinks she is a spoiled princess. When Bella disappears Lissa's trust in others is not strong. Can Damien bring Bella back to her?
Growing up in NC and being only like 20 minutes from the Charlotte speedway you never wanted to be out on the road on race days the traffic was awful. I never was a huge race fan, but I do enjoy reading about places I know and I do love dogs in stories. Overall this was a well written book, and a cute read. I do enjoy a HEA ending and seeing Lissa and Damien to work past their issues from the past. I would recommend this book to others.
With Digging the Driver by Elsie Davis we find old friends, Lissa (the race car driver) and Damien (the security guard), who have a very shaky background, try to work together to save Bella, Lissa’s beloved corgi after dognappers take her. Can these two let the past go long enough to save poor Bella or will something terrible happen to the Corgi? Well, that’s the fun of this story…you just never know…keep reading.
Lissa’s and Damien’s story is one that pulls you in and keeps you reading. I really enjoyed the premise of this story along with the cute Corgi named Bella. This is a wonderful story with a female race car driver who hires a security firm to guard her dog due to area dog nappings. This book contains suspense, romance, racing, dog napping and a happily ever after. I am really enjoying this Corgi series. Elsie Davis is a new author to me and I am loving her story!
Kidnapping purebred dogs is the latest local sport. She didn't expect her former boyfriend turned high school nemesis would be the security guard sent to guard her Corgi. This is the second in a new series and stands entirely on its own with Easter eggs sprinkled through in the form of overlapping encounters with the other celebrities in the series. Quick and fun but with plenty of drama and excitement--and romance!
Digging the Driver is a very entertaining book. It has second chance romance, a starring Corgi, rescue animals, dognapping, suspense, likable characters, a female race car driver and an interesting story line. If you want a fun read, be sure to check out the Celebrity Corgi Romances. I am very glad I did.
Second book in the series. How can you not like books with the dogs..... In this book, Lisa is a race driver and has a corgi, Bella. There is a lot dognappind in the area and Lisa doesn't want to take a chance and hire a doggy bodyguard. Then we meet Damien, they used to be best friends until they weren't. He is Bella's doggyguard. He doesn't like it, but he has to do the job. This is great book.
Lissa and Damien both have trust issues especially when it comes to the other which makes the action so much more fun. This book was so enjoyable. There is enough action and romance to keep you reading. I may need a Corgi like Bella. I have enjoyed this series and look forward to Prince Dorian’s story.
Digging The Driver is book 2 in the Celebrity Corgi Romance Series and is written by Elsie Davis. Lissa is a Corgi loving race car driver who will do anything to protect her pup! Bring back an old childhood friend, many new and old misunderstandings and you have a very cute story! I recommend this series! I received an ARC for review but the opinions are my own.
What's not to love about the book! It has action, suspense, romance and an adorable little corgi named Bella. I enjoyed every minute I spent reading this book. I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I received a free advance review copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review. Lissa and Damien connect after 9 years. They did not part on good terms, but Bella brings them together. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it.
The second Corgi book in the series has a worried woman stock car racer, dognappins, a security guard for her Corgi, and a lot of misunderstandings. There is a tie in to Ruby from the first book and then you get introduced to the Prince from the next book.
Digging the Driver The Celebrity Corgi Romances, Book 2 By: Elsie Davis, Sweet Promise Press Narrated by: Rachel Butler
This is what I love! A romance packed with mystery and suspense. And dogs! Elsie Davis pens the perfect mix of a second chance romance with a dognapping, that captured my attention and had me following until that corgi was found! Lissa is a successful race car driver. Working in a man's field isn't easy, but she has carved her niche and loves her job. When a rash of dogs go missing in her town, she hires a bodyguard for her beloved Bella. Bella is a corgi, who goes everywhere with her. Not taking any chances, she agrees to hire Damian, a past high school crush. But will these two be able to work together and put their baggage aside? When Bella goes missing, the true test is given. And I am not going to say how it all turns out. Twists and turns lead to different avenues that i know I didn't expect. This is a fast and furious story, with easy to fall for characters and a dog that is irresistible! The perfect way to start my day with this in my ears!
Rachel Butler brings this all to life with a wonderful narration. She has a lot of characters throughout the story, each given a different voice. But her two main of Lissa and Damian are spot on. Each give the right amount of obvious frustration and pent up anger as well as true love and attraction. I enjoyed this listen and hope to hear more of this series!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story about a dognapping! Fun characters and a fun "crime" to solve! Damien and Lissa knew each other in high school. There was a big misunderstanding and both of them were left feeling bitter. For years they thought the other "walked away" so when Lissa, who is now a professional race car driver, needs a doggy guard" for Bella, her dog, she contacts a security firm to guard her and who should show up but Damien! There is a lot of hurt feelings and fiesty dialogue between the two! When the unthinkable happens, will Bella be found? Will the misunderstanding be cleared up? Very enjoyable story!
There is nothing like a romance-mystery story with a dog as part of the characters. I enjoyed this book with its spitfire female race car driver. Then there is Damien who has to take on the job of protecting the Corgi. There is the mystery of who is doing the dognapping. I had 2 suspects in mind & one of them was the culprit. I received a free copy of this book. This is my unbiased, voluntary opinion.
Three stars... I know I'm in the minority on this, but I have to give it 3 because there are many grammatical errors throughout the book. That does affect the ratings for me.
The story was okay. Bella, the Corgi, was the star of the book. A quick read, though.

This book has romance and suspense! Dogs are being taken so a professional race car driver hires a bodyguard for her corgi. It's an exciting book but needs better editing for typos.
