The author says at the end of the book that he did not use AI to write the book, except where explicitly noted (such as pasting example responses from AI chat bots). This was a bit surprising as some of the language of the book is a bit repetitive, enthusiastic, and verbose in nature as AI responses are sometimes wont to be. Maybe the author has used AI so much that it has affected his own vocabulary!
I was/am also suspicious that an AI voice generator was used to read the audiobook. Even though an actual person is credited for reading, the voice patterns are so consistent throughout the book - such as pauses that seemed not to best match the cadence of a sentence - perhaps a real person gave an AI samples of his voice and then had AI read the rest in his voice.
In any case, it’s a book about AI. Why wouldn’t they use such tools? I wouldn’t blame them for it. The whole point of the book is about how AI is here to make our lives easier.
There’s a good amount of useful material in this book. I almost wish I had a print copy to use as a reference for the many AI tools that were discussed that I will no doubt forget about. It’s a bit difficult to go back and find them on audiobook. Maybe there’s an AI for that? I wouldn’t doubt it after listening to the myriads of AI tools discussed here. It seems there is an AI for everything.
It’s not a particularly enthralling book, but I’d recommend it for anyone just wanting a basic intro to various AI tools and how they can be used. Admittedly, the book could have used more explicit examples of how these tools can be used. A general explanation is usually given, but it’s often left up to the reader’s imagination how exactly to put it into practice. There are exceptions to this, but by and large I found that to be the rule.

Practical overview of current AI tech and its uses
This is written clearly and provides a solid list of current AI offerings. If you are new to the latest generation of AI, it will give you an excellent understanding of what it is and a good start at how to use it. If you are more experienced, you will still appreciate the AI history and the list of AI offerings. Ball has a straight forward writing style that is easy to understand. Disclaimer: I received an advanced copy for review. To be fair, I almost said no, because I have seen a number of Kindle books with so many typos and bad writing that they were impossible to read. Thankfully, this is *not* one of those.
