The second novel in the exciting Lance Brody series from the author of the Amazon Kindle number-one best-selling horror novel, Rough Draft!
A family mysteriously murdered. A haunted farmhouse. A town rich with secrets. Still on the move, Lance Brody finds himself in the tiny town of Ripton’s Grove, living in a neglected farmhouse in which, six years earlier, Mark Benchley murdered his wife and teenage daughter before turning a shotgun on himself. But while the town has accepted the Benchley family's fate, it doesn’t take long for Lance to realize there might be much more to the night the Benchley family died, and the farmhouse itself, than anybody knows. Anybody alive, that is.
While digging for answers and trying to piece together the clues the ghosts of the farmhouse seem to be offering him, Lance discovers something that shakes him to his core. A young boy named Ethan who may carry with him a secret bigger than anything Lance could have ever expected. A secret that may change Lance’s life forever.

Pick up Dark Son and start unraveling Lance’s latest mystery today!
How can u not like Lance?! But what a burden he carries. Michael's still keeping his readers in the dark about what happened the night his mom was murdered. But it's really secondary at this point. Look forward to the next one.
Another 5 star in the continuing story about Lance Brody. He had to leave Westhaven and the girl he loved, and is back on the road. This time he arrives at another small town, Riptons Grove.
If you read the prequel and the 1st one in the series, you know that Lance can talk to the dead, plus he receives messages from them. He doesn't really understand all of his powers, all he knows know is that two men, The Surfer and The Reverend, are trying to find him and he can't let them. He just knows that they are evil.
In this one, he arrives in the town and in looking for a place to stay, he is renting a small house, that everyone thinks is haunted. But for Lance, he is used to that, so the stories behind it, doesn't bother him and he rents it. He does make a couple of new friends and in living in the "haunted house" he is receiving messages from the ones that were murdered there. He also meets a young boy, Ethan, and believes that he might also be able to talk to the dead and he wants to help him.
As usual, lots of action going on in this one and he helps to solve another murder, but he is on the run again, and the Surfer and Reverend aren't too far behind!
Again author Michael Robertson Jr has done a great job with Dark Son, a Lance Brady novel. Kept me involved from beginning to end and looking forward to the next in this series. As an avid reader, I love when an author keeps me thoroughly entertained and knowing I can soon be engrossed in another of his works. It's authors like him that keep me involved in my books. Thank you sir. Keep doing what you do so I can keep doing what I do. Reading is both a privilege and a pleasure.
Absolutely captivating!!! Plenty of action and on the edge of your seat scenes!!! I was extremely impressed by this ghostly/mystery type book. Once I started it it was definitely impossible to do anything else. Lost some sleep with this one. Reminds me of the Odd Thomas series and that was one of my favorites. This series is absolutely brilliant!!!
I’m enjoying the Lance Brody series. Sometimes the universe really puts you just where you need to be. Lance rents a haunted house while he’s in another small town. As the mystery of the house starts to unravel, Lance meets a very special little boy. He ends up face to face with a murderer and somehow manages to help some of the townspeople find some peace. He’s still trying to understand his gifts as he boards a bus to …..
Ahhhh, this was hard to get through on account of Lance's stupidity, which is something given his less than remarkable show in the first book. But here it felt almost painful to see him bumble around when thing were obvious at times, waiting for the universe's handouts than do some thinking himself and try to connect the dots. Like nowhere in the entire book does Lance really question about why Mary was sent to the boarding school or the behavior of the family near their end.
This character Lance is such a great character, he is strong, he is able to stand his ground. Each full length novel brings Lance a little closer to finding what and he was. Start read today.
The book is really good. Different from what I’ve read before. Compelling reads, need to know what happens now. I feel sorry for Lance but I’m confident the author will c him right down the line.
A great book from beginning to ending! I really enjoyed reading it. I loved the paranormal mystery and suspense. I am looking forward to the next one in this series!
Loving the character Lance Brody and enjoying the ride with him along the paranormal journeys he encounters. Michael Robertson, Jr. is a great storyteller. Can't wait to start Book #3
Lance Brody does his bit to solve an old murder mystery. He is his usual kind hearted, food loving, sarcastic self and uses his otherworldly gifts to set him on the right track. Addictive reading :)
Great read. Despite figuring out the mystery early in the story I liked this better than book one. I raced through to see if I was right. I can’t wait to see what book 3 brings.
Lance Brody steps off a bus in the small town of Riptons Grove. Has something called him here? He rents an old farm house on a hillside just outside of town where, six years ago, a man shot his wife and daughter and then himself. People say the house is now haunted. On entering the house Lance knows that someone has been snooping around because the backdoor was open and he also feels that the murder/suicide may not be the true story, especially when he meets a small six year old boy who lives on the neighbouring property, and why does the the local sheriff have such an interest in the farmhouse? Lance is still coming to terms with the death of his mother and also with his own ‘seeing’ abilities. Also on his mind is Leah, the girl who he left behind in Westhaven, and who he feels very deeply for. He knows that he is also being pursued by the ‘Surfer’ and the ‘Reverend’, two men who he really does not want to meet! This is another mysterious and engaging book, the second in the Lance Brody series, can’t wait to read part three. Congratulations to the author for creating such a wonderful character. 5/5
