Can one lone wolf save the world from fae who feed on pack bonds?
Half-werewolf Athena has spent her entire adult life keeping her human sister off the local alpha's radar. But when the Samhain Shifters come to town, she's thrown off her game.
Tank isn't at all what Athena had come to expect from an alpha. Rather than throwing his weight around and taking from the little guys, he risks his skin to fight off deadly fae who slip into our world one night per year.
"Join us," Tank tempts, prompting butterflies to take flight in Athena's stomach. The gig would be a one-week commitment, the work a boon to the common good, the result insurance for her sister's future. But if Athena drops her standards and runs with wolves, will she ever be able to attain independence again?
The Samhain Shifter series can be listened to in any order, with adventure, mystery, and a happily ever after in every book. Moon Glamour is Book One.
Aimee Easterling is a USA Today Bestselling author writing on the boundary between urban fantasy and paranormal romance. She specializes in spunky shifters and invites you to dive into her werewolf world in the Wolf Rampant trilogy, the spinoff Bloodling serial, and her new Alpha Underground series.
Studying biology and working as a naturalist have both informed Aimee's writing, but she's quite willing to let reality slide in favor of a good story. When not writing, she loves to read and always keeps books by Robin McKinley, Patricia Briggs, and Elizabeth Peters on her shelf. You can learn more at www.aimeeeasterling.com.
So the whole book is about Athena-who apparently steals for a living- joining a group of werewolves to close up this Fae hole in the earth that opens every year and brings havoc to wolf communities. Being only a half wolf with no pack, she makes it very clear that she's only in it for the money because she needs to pay for her half-sister Harper's PRIVATE SCHOOL and Harper's EVIL STEPDAD that only lets her see her if she gives him money that he spends on gambling.
Yes you heard me right. Athena is half werewolf, and is scared of a complete loser and gives him money whenever he asks for it. She also doesn't seem to have an actual job.
Wolf aside, the fact that she doesn't try and involve the law at any point is stupid and irresponsible. She's let both of them suffer and be taken advantage of their whole lives because she's a coward who can't stand up to him. And we are supposed to believe she's brave enough to go charging into a Fae invasion later on and not wet her pants.
There's a lot that's not explained well or is just plain dumb. Athena claims to have "face blindness" and it's treated like a disability but as far as I can tell she only has trouble recognizing people she would see for like two seconds under stressful circumstances, which sounds completely normal.
The fact that she unironically goes to Walmart to buy a bunch of red bandanas for her teammates so everyone can tell each other apart during the clan invasion...
Her romantic interest's name, "Tank", and his odd backstory. Apparently he comes from a wonderful clan that made him literally cut his own face into ribbons because so many women found him hot and it was causing problems. So now no one wants him except Athena because she's the only one who doesn't seem to think he's ugly.
And the ending, where Tank offers evil stepdad a six figure sum of money to "give up his custody" of Harper. I'm pretty sure that's not even legal? like you can't buy rights to children and sell them? Tank is supposed to be a lawyer and has this all figured out. Even if it was possible, the fact that that asshole is being given even more money for threatening Athena is a fucking disappointment.
Nothing really happens with the romance, it's just built on the fact that Tank's desperate and Athena needs a community to help herself and Harper out of the mess they're in.
The writing's... fine. It's supposed to be a sweet story about a big sister who will do anything to keep her little sister happy... except you know, get a normal job and go through the right channels to do so.
Moon Glamour is a delightfully different take on Shifters v Fae. It is the first of a series but also a stand-alone book with a HEA and no cliffhanger. Fabulous characters and an original storyline make this a book that I did want want to put down until I'd finished it. I definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more about the Sanhain Shifters.
“Moon Glamour” the first installment into the new “Samhain Shifters” series by alpha extraordinaire shifter-storyteller Aimee Easterling is pure enjoyment from cover to back-cover.
Athena is a shifter in trying to be inconspicuous in a foreign territory. In order to both live close to her sister and keep her hidden from the local alpha, Athena tries to stay under the radar, as a thief (sorry I mean to say ‘retriever of objects’ 😊) that something she manages on a daily basis, until she closes path with Tank (a big scary shifter with a mysterious scar across his face, and nonetheless, nicer than most) and finds herself recruited into the Samhain Shifter, a group of shifters that is loosely assembled to keep the population safe during the night of Samhain. Is a great job, awesome pay (non-existent), very apt colleagues (no scary custom needed) and all the fun you can handle (fighting the things that go bump on Samhain night). Who could refuse? Athena, for sure cannot!
Aimee Easterling does not need any introduction, when it comes to shifter tales, you just need to ask, she will deliver, as a matter of fact she delivers a lot more that you were ever dreaming of. Moon Glamour is no exception, it offers an expansion into the wonderful character shifter-verse that constitutes Easterling vast assembly of book & series. While the novel is a stand-alone read, you would not wish to stop there, why would you? Spoiler alert => You. Will. Not.
For those about to enter the Easterling shifter world for the first time, be assure you will not regret it in the least, this book (as each and every one of them) offers a fast-paced, action-packed, well-constructed story, filled with wonderful, credible, and relatable characters and seasoned with a healthy dose of humor.
⚔️⚔️ONE ACTION PACKED TREAT⚔️⚔️ Sensational! Aimee dialed my number rang my bell and blew me clean out of the water with this skillfully composed debacle, serving up fervent facts, desparate choices and relentless pursuits, grabbing you from the first sentence to the last word, propelling this gem to staggering heights. Continence and dynamics in layer upon layer that you peel back with each page your drawn into this web so profoundly until everything else ceases to exist, merging this gem together seamlessly. Anarchy and mishaps descend in a flurry of deadly encounters and cunning manuvers, observing the broken barriers and blurred perimeters, limitations are amplified and enforced, exposing the impish quirks and defying bents, blasting this baby to life spectacularly. The characters, banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, adding depth and diversity, transforming into outstanding personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and graphic descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that feels as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Aimee, thanks for sharing this amazing thrill with us.
While I enjoyed the summary and thought Athena and Harper were good characters.
The entire book felt extremely forced as literally written into the plot is we can form pack bonds and like each other because the fae will manipulate us.
They get manipulated anyways and the characters suffer tremendously from this writing style
Hated all of the pack alphas as none of them were any kind of leaders
Spoilers
. . . .
Spoilers
- the ‘good’ Alpha Luna kidnaps the heroine to ask if you want to work with us and then discards/treats as worthless
The bad alpha Rowan and the alcoholic father Nick both don’t receive any real punishments- in fact Nick gets rewarded for his abuse.
Tank is ok I guess....but despite talking about pack bonds they will never form in this series as it ends with we need to take a break from each other for 2 months so we don’t form bonds since fae feed on those.
Also the team if they were true alphas would have stood up to Rowan immediately.
Anyways the good characters were sorta like mercenaries working together for one job...no connections or any real character development.
I liked Athena and Harper and the summary, but this story needs a ton of work.
I am a huge fan of Aimee Easterling. I always wait with bated breath until her next book is available to read. Her leading male characters are not perfect in looks, but are very exciting in other ways such as understanding, patience, caring and being there when needed. I fell in love with Tank. He is scarred, but is a great love interest. Athena is not perfect either. She has face blindness. She is also a thief. Both Tank and Athena are recruited into the Samhain pack to battle fae coming through a portal on Halloween. This is their story. I LOVED IT! I was not disappointed in this story and can't wait to read the next on in the series. I am hoping that Aimee doesn't have any problems whipping it out in record time. Anyway, I highly recommend this story and know you will too.
Athena is half werewolf. When her mother passed away she took on the responsibility of raising her younger, human half sister, and protecting the younger girl from the local pack alpha. She thought she was doing a pretty good job. Then she meets Tank, an alpha werewolf unlike any she had met before, and a member of the Samhain Shifters. Tank is intrigued by the female shifter who doesn't hesitate to look him in the face despite his scars, and will do what it takes to convince her to join the Samhain Shifters. Absolutely wonderful characters. While having met them before briefly in other books, I loved that I got to know them better in this book. Well written, compelling and multifaceted characters in an exciting, action packed romance with a mystery, some suspense, and a happily ever after. I loved it!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Athena D'Argent's biggest concern was providing better opportunities and keeping her little sister safe. Her jobs as a mercenary thief were her best resources and offered her enough independence to stay away from other shifters. Until she received a strange offer that was difficult to refuse and suddenly found herself in a strange situation that was putting at risk what she had worked so hard to achieve. Her loyalty was to her sister and she had no intention of getting involved with other wolves but her inner wolf was telling her otherwise. Interesting the drama in which Athena was trapped. Both Athena and Tank had something they were not happy with and I was intrigued by the face blindness and the Samhaim Shifters. Liked the suspense, the interesting plot development, Athena and Tank’s attraction and the strong female characters. An interesting and entertaining book that I liked.
Aimee Easterling is a master story-teller, and this book proves it once again. How she manages to mix real life characters with huge seemingly insurmountable problems, and adding. Werewolves with their own difficultes and meshing everything together seamlessly. The plot is also a completely new twist on the possible danger the wolves could face, and brings out the very best in Athena, the hero in this story. If you enjoy werewolf books with amazing characters, a wonderful love story, wrapped in enough twists and tuns you'll truly enjoy this story. I've already pre-ordered book 2 - that's how much I enjoyed it!
Audiobook: I enjoyed this first book a lot. There was plenty of action. I was entertained by the romantic dance of Tank and Athena. I admired Athena's relationship with her sister. I liked Tank's spirit of independence which kept him out of a wolfpack, and his degree of responsibility which had him help the group of Samhain Shifters to corral the Fae when they slipped onto the Earth's plane during Halloween. I enjoyed R.R. Cummings' narration as her performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook through Spotify. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Even one with face blindness can appreciate this. Tank is definitely eye catching. But it's his personality that makes your heart swoon. Athena can attest to that. This book follows her adventures in a first person perspective, as she juggles her life between her work as a thief, guarding her sister from a drunkard father, and laying low as a werewolf in another pack's territory. Things get only more complicated when a bunch of werewolves corner her.. and recruits her to fight against the Fae.
I have been a fan of this author for a long time, and I realized that lately I’ve really been off wolf shifters. This led to a tiny bit of reluctance to start this one, but I had to because this author is great. I am so glad I did. This book is probably the best one by this author yet. Athena and Tank are a great pair of main characters, and I absolutely adore that neither one is perfect. Add to that the great and interesting side characters and mentions of other characters from the same series Tank is from, and this author hit the jackpot with this new series. A well-written, romantic, action-filled book sure to please fans. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
An interesting new series with a few old friends, and it's a great first book. Athena is hired for a museum heist. Life is not so easy for her and her half sister since mother died, but she'll do what needs to be done. Until she runs into to an unlikely werewolf pack and her life is changed forever as she learns her new employer isn't what she seems. The plot is interesting and moves along at a fast pace with enough suspense and sword fights to keep you reading. Looking forward to more stories in The Samhain Shifter series.
It started out being interesting, the main character had face blindness and because of her past had a hard time forming any kind of relantionship. She was tough and loyal to her sister which I liked. However, I personally think the way she started trusting people was rushed and done poorly. It could have been done better. Even though the twist at the end was good, I lost interest in the plot around 70%. Stopped caring about the book as a whole after 75%.
I loved that Athena tried to make up for sister with a drunk and a gambler stepfather that didn't care about her. a half wolf shifter, she had to become a thief in order to bail him out more and more. Harper never knew about the supernatural and she meant to keep it that way, and then she met a scarred face shifter named Tank.
I loved how Tank never let it bother him about his looks, and how he helped Athena even when she never asked for it. He was there to protector her even though she fought him tooth and nail!
An awesome author who spins a plot that sucks you into a portal that spits you out in the middle of a fantastic adventure. Full of magical mayhem, shifters, an evil alpha his pack and a human dysfunctional family! The characters are bigger than life, evil and good battle as they try to conquer evil! You will find danger, greed, surprises, secrets, and betrayal, and a true love between sisters!
I have read a lot of books with shifters but this one was a refreshing look at the really tight rules of governance that these shifters hold against themselves. Two sisters each bound in a different way, the older doing whatever she can to assist her younger sister. Getting intimate with any pack was not in the Athena’s plans but neither was meeting a wolf, with scars who stops her in her tracks or fighting the Fae.
Well I guess I must be in a shifter book mood recently…along with enjoying battles and mysteries… This was an interesting concept with preconceived ideas often being thrown out the door, but still with some standing firm… An interesting twist near the end…. I enjoyed this book and can recommend it to a few of my friends for their teens as it was basically a clean read, so even okay for the younger teens or tweens….
This was an interesting take on the werewolf world. Author Easterling's main character Athena is a thief who steals to provide for her younger half sister. The problem is, he doesn't always make the best choices in clients.
The book examines fae/shifter relations and the story is full of twists and turns and yes, some romance.
Things aren't always as they seem in this book - part of a series but also a satisfying stand alone too.
Samhain (Halloween) and the shifters know that the Fae are trying to pass through to the human realm.
Athena is trying to stay independent but on good terms with the local Alpha. Look after her half-sister Harper while still dealing with Harper's father persistent demands for money.
Aimee is always good when developing her characters.
This is the first book in a new series by this author and as always I will say I am happy when there is a new book by her. With plenty of action, adventure, suspense, romance Athena and Tank keep you pulled into the story and wanting to know what will happen next with them. I can not wait to read the next book in the series.
Totally loved the story. Liked all the interaction between humans, wolves, and fae. The beginning, starting out in a museum, was really good. I liked the references to displays to look at. I also liked how Athena was a lone wolf but still trying to take care of her younger half sister.
Werewolves, fae & humans oh my! Strong characters fighting for the best of the rest! Wolves holding the line. Read it for yourself to see if they got this. And why the rude asking the way. I know I did!
The audiobook is good! The narrator has a great voice. Her voice acting is smooth & enjoyable to listen to! Good choice for narrator! I think I'll listen again! You should check it out.
Learning to trust is hard especially when you've been burned... Athena is a lone wolf shifter whose only focus is to provide a stable environment for her younger sister. This story is full of unexpected surprises, wolf shifters and fae. Glamor magic, danger and unexpected loyalty, love and family
It was an okay story. Boring though, the pacing was slow and the FMC makes every decision based off her little sister. I mean, it's fine, but also boring. It's been done. She's obsessed with her little sister, we get it. And then it had a FTB spice scene, which just topped off the boring sundae that was this book.🥴
Another wonderful story. Fast paced action with plenty of heart felt drama. Cannot wait for the next book in this series. Try any of her books. I guarantee you will be hooked!
Loved this book! As always the characters are fun I don’t feel like I’m reading just another werewolf story with the same plot. Aimee does a fantastic job and I can’t wait for more of this series.
I really enjoyed this descriptive story, I have the audio book and found the story captivating and interesting and full of action. The narrator has a lovely sweet voice and did a great job. Recommendation from me!!
I enjoyed this book, the characters were engaging, they never changed like most books were 2 characters become mates, the story was interesting, if a bit obvious, and the world was limited so deep background was not needed. Recommended.
This was a fun, easy-to-read story as the first of this shifter series. Captivating. I read the book in one day, which I rarely do. This is typical Aimee Easterling writing. Always interesting, entertaining and satisfying.
