Will curiosity kill the cat shifter—or finally cure his lonely heart?
Alaric has lost all patience with the Dragonfate Games. After failing to find a mate for four seasons, he suspects foul play. The omega’s convinced a producer has a vendetta against him. He’s perfect, so why hasn’t a bachelor fallen into his paws?
When Alaric arrives on the island for season five, he marches to the office of the bastard responsible, the alpha dragon Jade... and stumbles into a world he never imagined.
Jade has a dirty little secret. Beneath the civilized surface, he’s depraved and sinful. Yet he never lets the mask slip. He’s too busy running the show to indulge his desires—until an arrogant cat intrudes on his sacred space.Jade punishes him. And Alaric likes it.
As they forge a pact of mutual secrecy, Alaric offers Jade reign of his body. But as Jade lavishes Alaric with the tender attention he’s always craved, he suspects his heart might belong to the dragon, too...
Alpha Dragon’s Cat is a fun, sweet mpreg novel featuring a sly alpha dragon, a haughty omega cat, and ultra-spicy scenes. Listening to the series in order is recommended. No cheating, and fluffy HEA guaranteed!

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below. I felt like a computer that had tripped over a string of code and malfunctioned. During all my years, I’d never experienced attraction to another person before.
I was pretty stoked about reading Alaric’s book after seeing him as a strong side character throughout the series, but I was kinda disappointed with this story. It’s just not going anywhere? It took me ages to finish it. Maybe I’d built way too high expectations. Also, even if it was (mostly) said in a joking tone, all the kink shaming made me uncomfortable. The unnegotiated kink practice didn’t help.
I’m still excited about Poppy’s book tho. I assume he’s being paired with Viol, and unfortunately my expectations for that story are sky high. Oops.
Fun series tho. “Do you like being helpless for your omega?” I asked. A muffled whimper escaped him. “Yes, I do,” he said fervently.

My fingers itched to rip his clothes off, but Alaric treated his belongings with care, and I knew he’d turn me into a dragon-hide rug if I did that.
“Are you... purring?” I asked. Alaric’s eyes snapped open. “No! You think I’d purr just because I’m a cat?” I chuckled at his flustered reaction. “It’s all right, I was only asking. But if you did purr, that would be very cute.” He cleared his throat. In a small voice, he mumbled, “Fine, then. Maybe I was purring.”
I’m a bit bummed about this addition to the series. Alaric and Jade were both interesting characters, but I didn’t like the kink shaming. There was a safe word, but it was given to the other MMC to use AFTER things got started. Especially since this was breath play, it gave me the ick. In a dark romance, it wouldn’t bother me as much, but in a series that is pretty cozy? Didn’t work. Alaric and Jade had a unique dynamic and I did like that. They were both their own brand of bitchy.
A Sassy, Fluffy & VERY Kinky Paranormal Omegaverse romance! I had always meant to binge this series—with its fun premise—once it fully releases, yet this is the 2nd book in it which made me slip...& I ended up devouring it in around 6hrs! Just look at the cover! The pairing! The unexpected, hot kink! Omg ugh it's great ❤️. I adored them!
Alaric is interesting, a cat-shifter omega, we see him lots in previous books. He's arrogant, sassy & a "Cold hearted bitch” but he's also bold, curious, oddly sweet, caring. He's so haughty 🙄 *annoyed noises* but his vulnerable side & backstory eventually made me melt 🥺. He wants a mate so bad 😭. He's so cute with Poppy (Give sweet P V-mate 😤) & the babies!
Jade is one of the older dragon-shifter alpha brothers, the main guy organizing the games. He's intelligent, efficient, elegant 😌, loves his rules & books... He's also got a kinky secret! When his bros take the mantle to make Jade the bachelor in Season 5, he never thought he'll ever be attracted to anyone or even be accepted by an omega but...Alaric happens!
It all starts with a angry 😾 sneak into 🐉 castle & compromising positions! Omg, the banters & blushes, the lil 1-sided-hate 😅, sparks, collar 🥵🥰, lust, the "secret" visits & possessiveness! It got me hooked 🤭. Only they can handle eachother 😉. The games are so chaotic lol, It got extra feral 😳 & heart racing 😩 at last!!
“Jade filled the dark spaces within me. He was the wonderful green-haired pervert in shining armor I’d wanted all my life.”
I LOVED the vulnerability & first times scenes ❤️, insecurities 🥺...I adored their honesty & acceptance! The realisation of fated mates felt natural despite it being insta-love. The kink, holy heck! Bondage (both=better 💞), praise & the fetish toy 🤣😉😳...the breeding omg...(All out 🐉🥵)!! The m-pr-egg & family scenes are cute ❤️. Loved the bonus! This series is fun 😍.

I don't think I liked it that much. The plot, or rather the theme of the fifth season of the Dragonfate games, was quite messy and not detailed enough. I didn't really like the way the kink was portrayed here. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't very thorough in its description and it didn't fit into the story in my opinion.
Additionally, I didn't really like the characters and their dynamic/chemistry.
Everything felt out of place to me and that's probably why I didn't particularly like this book.
Really liked Jade and Alaric! I was hesitant about Alaric because of his attitude in the other books but honestly you come to love him in this book lol definitely unapologetically himself always 😂
Jade is a kinky man is all I gotta say on that front lmao I ate him up. He was also wholesome and quirky.
Now I have to wait til May 5th for Saffrons book by the cover it’s going to be a polar bear omega which really intrigues me!! But the wait is awful😭
poppy and viol BETTER be getting together in book 7 I’ve read and caught ALL the hints through all these books, they are just sweet angel babies. idc if viol wants to act tough he’s a softy fr, plus poppy is poppy he obviously deserves the best. 🫶🏼
This was a good read, with some fun parts, some exciting parts, some eye-rolling parts, and of course the absurd procreation. But there's something for everyone.
Aside from the clichés and some repetitions from previous books in the series, this was a book quite different from what the author has delivered so far in this series. I could say the same about the previous book, but some scenes were so, so immature that it frustrated me. That wasn't the case here. I liked the sarcasm of both characters, their arrogance and complicity, they gave it in equal measure.
Alaric and Jade were a perfect fit. I finished the book without feeling disappointed by the wait for the release. Unfortunately, the next one won't be released until May/25. I confess that I find it a bit frustrating to wait so long, since this isn't a book with a mega-elaborate story, a big plot, action, adventure, suspense, and surprising twists. And it's not that I don't like this type of book, but I've gotten used to authors who release books in the same style and level, releasing them much faster. But what do I know about writing and releasing books, right? Nothing, absolutely nothing.
That said, I don't expect much from the next one, but I know I'll read it. My expectation (which will be frustrated as always) is actually for Viol and Poppy's book. I believe it will be exciting, at least I hope so, but I also hope it will be fun.
I was so excited for this book to come out! This series is so sweet and precious, a lovely read with fun characters.
This book we finally get to have Alaric get his mate - he was so disgruntled to wait so dang long for it too, so much so he thought he was being purposely interfered with. So he confronts the main organiser, Jade, and this games dragon bachelor (not that he knew at the time). He also gets quite a surprise when he breaks into Jades office to do the confronting and finds him in a compromising position.
These two are so great together, Alaric is snarky but has a sweet heart and really cares for Jade and also the other omegas he has met along the way. Can’t wait to see Poppy get his mate too.. ah I love this series. It just a sweet comfort read, no angst, feel good reading.
I can’t believe how much i would have love Alaric book 😍😭 their banter and both of their quick responses is so much fun to witness until I can’t get enough of Alaric 😍
The kinky side of Jade is an amazing suprise and so much fun to see both of them involved in it 👀👀 BUT WHATEVER IT IS I JUST CAN’T WAIT FOR VOIL BOOK😭😭 i need it this instance and i knew it going to be so much fun and love with how much he passionate and gentle with all the babies 🥹🥹 he is secretly a huge caring dragon hidden inside 🥹
The fact that the next book will be on May 2025 🫠🫠🫠 then i think Voil will be near end year 2025 😭😭 that is so freaking longg😭😭
It is also actually a first of me enjoying such a quite plot, love and attraction between couples in a book😍 usually i am someone who prefer slow-burn and slow pace kinda lobe so fully in-tune with the plot and character BUT only this series make an exception for me ✨✨ i didn’t even mind the instant attraction/lust between them or the quite short plot kinda enjoy it actually 😍 just wish for more!

Let’s get one thing straight: Alpha Dragons Cat isn’t winning any literary awards, and if you’re looking for a deep, intricately woven narrative, you might want to look elsewhere. But let’s be honest—it’s kind of a guilty pleasure. It’s not gonna blow your mind or anything, but you know what? I actually found it kinda entertaining! I mean, I’m definitely invested in all these dragons trying to find their mates, and it’s a fun little break from heavier stuff.
But seriously, the wait for the next book is driving me nuts! May 2025? That feels like an eternity! For a story that isn’t exactly packed with crazy plots or epic twists, the long gap between releases is a bit frustrating. I’ve gotten used to other authors in this genre who pump out similar stories way faster, and it’s hard not to compare. I just want to dive into the next adventure already!
Anyway, I’m still looking forward to the next book, even though my expectations are low. Honestly, I’m way more excited for Viol and Poppy’s story—I think that one could be a blast! So yeah, while Alpha Dragons Cat isn’t gonna win any awards, it’s still a fun read, and I’m here for the dragons and their love stories!
I wanted to like this one. So much. I loved the banter between the mcs, but honestly the side characters were super annoying in this addition to the series. Jade’s personality contradicted itself, and a lot of the plot seemed under developed.
this has been my FAVORITE book in the series so far. i love jade. i love alaric. i love them together. they match up so perfectly. i stayed up all night reading this
I liked the kink aspects to spice things up, it was enjoyable even if some aspects weren't to my taste and I would have appreciated proper kink negotiation, but I do feel like the book was a little flat overall. With Alaric being one of the OG characters I was really looking forward to seeing his happy ever after, him and Jade are a great pairing but I think I just wanted more depth and storyline. While each character is unique the actual events/storyline of each book in the series is feeling a bit stale. I feel like the first few books had a lot more excitement and took advantage of the omega-game challenges to add some really interesting plot points. Now the challenges feel like an afterthought and even the after-bonding part of the story where we see the family grow felt a but rushed compared to previous books. It doesn't help that I'm dying for Poppys story, who I've been waiting to be paired with Viol since book 1.
I adore this series. It's an automatic buy for me and I was delighted that Alaric finally got his mate. After 4 seasons Alaric was hurt and angry at missing out so he confronts Jade and learns more about the intelligent dragon. These 2 fall quickly. There's a lot of banter, some kink, and plenty of sweetness. Alaric needed someone who would push back and he got that with Jade. They just worked together
🙏 I want Poppy to find 😩 😫 😢 😭 😔 his mate, and I want it to be Viol . My heart keeps breaking for him. ❤️ this series, but I'm going to have to sit the next one out. Two Alphas left one has to be poppys. I'll wait until his story comes out, and he deserves a SPECTACULAR STORY LINE.❤️❤️
Honestly so much better than the beginning of the series. The pacing was one of my biggest issues in the earlier books along with them being a copy paste of each other. And this one fixed both of those problems. It wasn’t perfect by any means but it was wayyyyyy more fun.
Like Jade, I have a nice collection of books. That's where the similarities between him and me end. He one of the most intriguing dragons in the series. The book is LGBTQ fantasy which for me has to do with taking a place, revealing and being yourself. Also in this volume of the Dragonfate Games, it's not really about the dating show anymore. This book is more about learning to embrace a shadow side of personality, which is a theme in their development for both Jade and Alaric. Of all the brothers, Jade Chromatimaeus, the green dragon, is the most intriguing. And for me, Oakley has done this in the following way. In the prior volumes of the series, he remained more in the background as a production leader in the background and now it's his turn to step into the spotlight as the bachelor in the Dragonfate Games. I associated his growth in this book with some passages from “On the Being of the Ground” by Martin Heidegger. This has to do with themes of grounding (founding and taking one's place) and revealing. The Heideggerian grounding plays a role for Jade both literally and figuratively. Literally, as the producer of the dating show, he has a role in which he shapes. This he does in a thoughtful and quiet way. Taking his place now on camera as an alpha bachelor changes a lot for him.
Heideggerian grounding plays a role for Jade both literally and figuratively. Literally, as the producer of the dating show, he has a role in which he shapes. This he does in a thoughtful and quiet way. Taking his place now on camera as an alpha bachelor changes a lot for him. And in taking his place he shows, as Heidegger calls it, "a possibility of himself. (1) In that respect, Jade shows himself as alpha for the first time. Even his brothers now get to know him in a different way. This produces some pithy passages that I enjoyed immensely! One of these passages states the following:
"And in the next second, I was a feral animal. (p.155)
The transformation from human to dragon is this part of the story touches on two perspectives for me. If the transformation is read as an illustration of what Heidegger calls being and unbeing, there is an intriguing interaction in it. Jade is in his human form (being) looking for Alaric and trying to find him as a dragon (unbeing). The transformation from man to dragon is this part of the story touches two perspectives for me. If the transformation is read as an illustration of what Heidegger calls being and unbeing, there is an intriguing interaction in it. Jade is in his human form (being) looking for Alaric and trying to find him as a dragon (unbeing). This to me does the story a disservice, fortunately there is an explanation that goes even deeper and that is that due to the limitations of his being human (unbeing) Jade needs his dragon form (being) to find Alaric. That gives a my experience a dynamic charge to the text. Another possibility is to see the passage as a revelation of true being. At the moment of his transformation, Jade gives himself completely from pure instinct. He reveals himself and how he relates to himself. His dragon form is needed to help Alaric. This revelation is pictorially strongly portrayed by the author. And so through the development of Jade and Alaric, “Alpha Dragon's Cat” becomes a delightful reading experience. The story is already a great read in due to the author's amazing fanaticism. All this was enhanced by the associations I could make with Heidegger's work while reading. This made it extra enjoyable!
Disclaimer: I’m going to review it without spoilers at the top, then create a line and anything below that line will be spoilers. Do with that what you will.
The struggle is real with rating this book. There were things I loved about this book, but also I never really felt a true connection to Jade and Alaric being together either. They didn’t seem like they really went together, they just had hot spicy scenes.
What I liked: - Alaric’s rage was honestly kind of comical, because he just went off and half the time it was over the smallest shit and just working himself up. - The typical dinner date reward was HOT this time. And with others around 👀 - The small bits of Poppy or Viol (not together) are just teasing us SO MUCH for their book. It’s killing me 😭 - Favorite quote: What’s that supposed to mean? That I’m loose? I’ll have you know… // DIED LAUGHING 🤣
What I didn’t like: - Felt that Alaric & Jade’s connection just wasn’t really there. - I’m not loving this “meeting the alpha somehow before the dating show starts” premise that keeps happening.
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT ————————————————————
- Latex and inanimate objects? This was surprisingly hot. While also being kinda comical. - If the brothers setup the book challenge, that specific book would have never been included. It was part of Jade’s hoard (a huge no-no) and it was about inflatables? Just didn’t add up. - Alaric teasing Jade at dinner and the subsequent punishment scene 🔥🔥🔥 - Jade panicking post-spicy scene and they’re heading outside and quiet was absolutely adorable. This is exactly how dom/sub actually is. You aren’t selfishly dominant. It’s mutually beneficial and then you show your real feelings in aftercare. - Jade going feral was absolutely epic. It brought a depth to the books that typically they don’t always have. It was serious and kinda scary and truly depicted “the dragon can’t help but come out” like the other books failed to really showcase. - Alaric’s control scene where he was the dom was so damn disappointing. Just when it was getting good, he has Jade take control. - I liked that they didn’t get instantly pregnant this time and it was outside of the 3rd challenge…well kinda. - Alaric opening up about his childhood definitely made me cry. And him finally getting someone who chooses him and cares for him 🥹 - The dragon sex is just NOT it. I like the partial shift when it’s wings or fangs, but the dick shift just gives me the ick. - Alaric is a cat most of the time but a baby dragon came out of the egg? It just isn’t adding up unless the little guy is miniscule. - Mint being the baby’s name and his physical attributes are so freaking cute. - I loved Viol opening up to Alaric and showcasing what he’s worried about by finding a mate some 😍
I enjoyed reading Jade and Alaric’s story. There were levels to it. It had all the moments - funny, cute, angsty, and spicy. And the best part was how chill they were towards each other. Like they were so easygoing and accepting of each other's idiosyncrasies. It was a very good read.
Notable Scenes/Quotes:
“Good night, perverted alpha,” Alaric stated. Once again, his insult sounded fond.
“Good night, criminal omega,” I replied.
He scoffed as he walked down the hall. “I used the front door this time, thank you very much!”
“Still trespassing,” I called after him with a smile. ++++++++++++++++
As my inner walls went up and my apathetic gaze traveled over the rest of the omegas, I locked onto the safe feeling of comfort that I sought—a mismatched pair of blue and green eyes.
Relief washed over me. Alaric’s gaze felt like home.
...I couldn’t be the alpha he’d always dreamed of. I was too bizarre.
But I knew he was mine. ++++++++++++++++
Poppy floated over to me and whispered, “Oh, I don’t know what to do... There’s so many books.”
“Just stand there and look cute,” I whispered back.
He nodded anxiously. “Okay.” Then he gasped. “You think I’m cute?”
“Of course you’re cute. You’re a living cotton ball shaped like a person.”
Poppy smiled shyly, then returned to perusing the shelves alongside me. ++++++++++++++++
My heart clenched with affection. “I appreciate your belief in me. And in turn, know I’ll do everything in my power to make myself worthy of you.”
Alaric blushed. For a moment, my heartfelt words seemed to catch him off guard.
“Hmph... You sure know the perfect things to say, don’t you?” His tone was a lightly snarky return to form, but he wore a genuine smile.
“I do read a lot of books,” I teased. ++++++++++++++++
Viol’s brain seemed to load like a slow website. Then he understood. “Oh. It’s practice for them.”
As Viol walked off, he muttered, “Whatever. Still mad about it.” ++++++++++++++++
“Yeah, being responsible sucks,” Aurum grumbled.
“Dude, you’re literally a father,” Saffron pointed out.
“So? Being a dad is awesome. Dealing with staff and papers and organizing crap is not.”
DNF @70% - I stuck this one out for a while because the series so far has been fun fluff, and I've enjoyed it. But I just..... didn't like this one. Alaric's prickliness with moments of actual caring in the earlier books was fun for a side character, but I was really expecting to like him more once he finally got his own book. And honestly, I was looking forward to it. The thing is, I like him far, far less here. I don't mind some arrogance if it's tempered with kindness, but he was just... no. I also didn't feel much for Jade, and didn't like the sneering ridicule of his "fetishes" and "perversions" from Alaric at all, even if Jade himself didn't seem fazed by them. But that was the thing with Jade, he seemed... extremely flat, and as if all the "fetish" stuff was just randomly assigned to a one-dimensional character.
Sigh, I mean, this series and author aren't exactly where I'd go for any depth or nuance in the first place, but in this book's case, my annoyance outweighed the fun factor, so I'm out. (And a large part of that annoyance was how..... awkward the writing was. It reads to me like the combination of someone for whom English is not their first language and someone who has little to no actual real-life relationship or sexual experience, so that it's all just very... awkward and slightly off. Like the uncanny valley of romance writing.)
Annnnnyway, I'm not sure if I'll pick up the next one or not, but for now, I'm calling this one done-for-me and moving on to other things!
Finally Alaric’s story! I feel like I’ve been waiting for this one forever (and I’m going to say that again when we finally get to Poppy’s, because we really will have been waiting the entire series for that cutie pie, and I absolutely cannot wait!) and it was definitely worth the wait!
I’ve loved Alaric and his spicy personality from the moment we met him, and my heart has gone out to him and the fact that he really just wants someone to love him. I love that he’s finally found that with Jade and that the two of them push each other in the best possible ways. I didn’t think it was possible for Alaric’s partner to be someone who could push him out of his comfort zone and try something new and make him feel so loved and cared for. I love that Jade gave that to him.
I died over Alaric’s story about his father always bringing home different alphas and how he didn’t want to be like that and how he was holding out for his fated mate. And I loved Jade and how he’s always so buttoned up but is so kinky. I died over Alaric’s walking in on that and how he kept the secret. I loved how protective Jade was of him and how he went feral and how Alaric brought him out of it and how he was never afraid of him.
I also really liked Alaric’s conversations with Poppy because they’re both so very different and how Poppy told him not to pity him. I honestly am so extremely excited for Poppy and Viol’s story—I feel like we’ve been building up to it this whole time.
