Preaching Lies

Rate this book
Pastor Hosea Reynolds was the man of God that had been sent to preach the gospel. His church was flourishing and he made sure to give all of his time to his members. The one thing that he failed to realize was that his seventeen year old daughter Haven, needed him the most. For fifteen years he labored for the Lord until one day his house of cards came crashing down like the walls of Jericho. Yearning for her father’s attention and missing the mother that she never knew, Haven was in a battle all alone. Her wild best friend Mila was there when she needed her to be but there was still a void. Being so young when her mother died, Haven never got the chance to experience certain things that every girl should. Learning about the changes in her body, accepting her appearance, and having “that talk” were just a few things she needed the most. It wasn’t until one day Trouble entered her life and caused just that, trouble. Asa “Trouble” Thomas was his father’s only son but he didn’t want to be. Instead of enjoying the pleasures of being a teenager, he was forced into a life of crime by the age of thirteen. Just like Haven, he too had lost his mother. Except he didn’t know that her life had been taken by the hands of the man who created him. It’s not until Haven enters his life that his eyes are opened and he realizes he was just a pawn in his father’s deadly game. Will the secrets of Trouble’s family cause Haven to turn completely away from God or had her own father done that already? Standing before the Lord on judgement day we all will be held accountable for our sins. What happens though, when the person who should have been leading you to righteousness had been preaching lies this whole time?

Beware of False Prophets!

There's was a lot going on in this novella. A war is brewing and the players are all hiding secrets. Out of all the chaos and fire, rises a beautiful phoenix.

My favorite character was Asa, because he ended up changing for his family. My least favorite character was Chop. He was driven by answer and revenge, and didn't care who he hurt.

Go pick up this book, and see for yourself.

Must Read

I was looking for a good book to read and stumbled upon this Author and I wasn't disappointed at all after I finished reading this. This is a really great story but also hard to review without giving up the plot. It's a shame the level people will stooped to for the love of money. Pastor Hosea Reynolds definitely came off as a serious man of cloth with just a few flaws. However looks are deceiving and this Pastor was doing a lot more than preaching. I was floored at when the truth was revealed. Haven is missing the attention from her father because he's putting the church before her needs and start to despise being a preacher's daughter. Asa had a difficult upbringing dealing with a dad like O'Shea. Asa also despise his father but for good reasons until a chance meeting with Haven. These two are going to uncover secrets and lies but also realize fate brought them together because they have more in common than they realize. O'Shea is arrogant and selfish. He's so focused on revenge. That he's not paying attention to those who are closest to him

Wow!!!! I’m utterly speechless!

Denora Boone has done it again! I promise her pen is golden. “Preaching Lies” was an amazing read. It kept my attention from beginning to end and the twists and turns were so unexpected! I can’t begin to express the joy I had reading this book. Each character was so vivid, and I came to simply adore Haven, Asa and Granna.....and Mila is my hood alter ego with a heart of gold! This story was real, raw and necessary.... don’t let anger, bitterness, un forgiveness and revenge rule your spirit and life....the end result will not be pleasant. Redemption and forgiveness.... two things I’m grateful for. Denora, may the blessings of the Lord overtake you is my prayer. You have blessed the literary world and we are grateful! Bravo 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Learning experience

I wanted to give this books 4 1/2 **** because I felt something was missing. Then I had to think about it. The Author wanted us to feel what the kids goes through. Just because these sins originated from their parents it was their decision to change outcome.
The storyline flowed perfectly. The Author didn’t try to throw in unnecessary thrills to shock you.
The characters was easy to relate too. The word love was thrown around the most. Your love for something or someone can cause more harm them good. The love of GOD is everlasting.
The most important lesson from any book is being able to take something away from it after your finished. This book will satisfy that thirst.

Pastor Reynolds was pastor of a flourishing church and the father of seventeen-year-old Haven. Pastor did not pay attention to Haven. Haven was yearning and missing her mother. Mila was Haven’s best friend and was always there for her. Haven was focused on her school work and her relationship with God. Haven met Asa “Trouble” who dad was one of the biggest drug dealers. Asa lost his mother at an early age. Asa was raised by his grandmother until the age of thirteen, when his father came and picked him up to work the streets. Asa did not want to be in that life, but he had no choice. Awesome book!!!!!

Decent Read

This was a thoughtful book that was decently written. The characters were developed and contained depth which are positives, however it left me with more questions than answers which are negatives.

You're telling us we have million dollar kingpins that were born and bred of the streets putting people on their team with no background checks? Hittas pulling jobs without researching their surroundings and players first? State of the art Security for drugs and money within the church but no bodyguard for Haven???? I don't think so. That's just unrealistic even when the church is being used as a cover!

Overall three book is fair

The Chickens Do Come Home to Roost

This is my first time reading a book by this author and I must say I really enjoyed it. I loved how the author used a scripture verse as caption for each chapter. Surprisingly the scriptures match with what was going on in that chapter.
I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster because of the betrayal, lies, schemes, happy feelings, laugh moments throughout the book. This book had my attention from the very beginning until the end. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more books by this author.

But God

Denora Boone has done it again. I never tire of reading her work. In this story of redemption she has managed to weave yet another story that shows the power of God. This story as well as all her others was well written and very good. The characters were believable and lovable with the exception of the villains of course. Kudos again Ms. Boone for another good read.

Happy Reading,

Good vs Evil

Twist and turns at it's best! Haven and Asa met and brought out the best in each other, when secrets and truths are revealed regarding family will they be able to continue to be loyal and have each others back.

Good read, love the scripture reference for each chapter and how God can change your circumstances if you let him in your heart. I'm a sucker for twist and turns in a book, and this had plenty! ❤❤❤

Really Good Read

I liked this read very much each character had their own style and sass. Asa was smart and loved his grandma. Haven was learning how to fit in because of her father Keys. Mila was her ride and die sister-girl. Grandma was real. I was glad Frangos git dealt with. I was really glad that Mech put Chop to sleep because he was Evil. Keys got what he derserved life in prison. When Kenya came back I was glad. Good Read!

It's an honest read

The book was an honest read. It wasn't under or over saturated with bs. I enjoyed the read. However I would've like to have known what the Kenya, Havens mother was doing with her life while she was "fake dead". Aside from that, the book was a good read for me... I would like to thank the author for the story. Have a blessed one and would enjoy when she embarks on writing again...God has blessed you with a great talent...

Not her best work but still love her

If you know the stories she is capable of being to life you know she rushed to finish this book. It lacks all the depth she puts into creating her characters and the story line. This book is so all over the place. Hey she done great work and truly ready to move one. I wish her many blessings and will continue to support her endeavors. If this is the first work your reading stop and enjoy all her others.

Another excellent Boone read

Boone always delivers. She uses real life situations to demonstrate how God can use anybody for His glory. There's always a message, and even though she uses scriptures in this book, it's not preachy, but 'teachy'. Loved this book and especially the two main characters, who strived to live in His will, despite their young age and circumstances.

Haven’s Trouble

Ain’t nothing like a good Christian fiction book. Haven and Trouble was so good together despite their young age. Trouble stepped up and allowed the presence of the Spirit to guide him to do right regardless of his father Chop. It’s amazing what happens when souls connect and people submit to the will of God!

Spirit filled

I enjoyed reading this book. I like that it started each chapter with a Bible verse. It lead you into what was happening. There was deaf, lives changes, and spiritual visions that took place on the behalf of Haven and Asa. I recommend others to read this book that was filled with drama, love, and suspension.

Great Read

Talk about a story of love, lies, deceit and deception. What I am grateful for is the opportunity of God to take every bad situation and use it for His glory!! All things good and bad work together for the good of them who live the Lord!! Even when we don't deserve it He is still there if we are open to receive Him. That's why i love Him so.

So so read

The story was never even, there were some parts that were fast so slow and some items really made no sense. The foes never meet up but that was the build up of the story, romeo and Juliet was fine but there was just non suspense

Review of Preaching Lies

The minute I saw the author's name I knew I was in for a treat. The title of the book also drew me in.
Asa and Haven met under unusual circumstances. They also had a lot in common thanks to the past which they had no control over.

I highly recommend this book especially to parents who have children. I believe this hook will give them a sense of hope knowing God can change you, fix you and redirect your child's life according to His purpose and plan.
