Deacon

Rate this book
Deacon is a man any upstanding mother would beg her daughter to cross the street to prevent contamination. He’s irrational, impatient, and slightly touched. The road captain for Baxtown Iron is too much for most women to handle. Yet, he refuses to back away from the timid and beautiful woman unconnected to his world. When betrayal and disloyalty threaten to destroy the relationship Deacon seeks, it ignites his need to show his enemies why it’s a grave mistake.

Squeak is a woman with a man from her past threatening to end her sanity and then her life. At the urging of her best friend, she returns to her hometown, hoping for protection from an unlikely source. Catching the eye of a member of Baxtown Iron’s attention hadn’t been her plan, nor was it her intention to engage with him. When he discards her like a house mouse, she realizes that maybe walking on the wild side wasn’t worth her broken heart. He isn’t someone she saw falling for, with his flip mouth or outlandish ways, so maybe she should let sleeping dogs lie.

With the odds stacked against them, can they push through the obstacles to end up on the winning side? Find out between the pages of this MC Romance, Deacon.

Deacon was an entertaining story that I finished quickly. I think what drew me in was the suspense surrounding Squeak and being interested in seeing how her return home would transform. Deacon was wild, outlandish, and definitely marched to the beat of his own drums. With parents heavily involved in the church, Deacon formed his own lane and stayed there. The family he formed with the Baxtown Iron crew was what he needed. It was intriguing to see how things changed when Deacon laid eyes on Squeak; I’m pretty sure there were stars in Deacons eyes. The story moved pretty fast and the romance unfolded quickly. There were a few moments where I was surprised by Deacon’s actions, like he was crazy but also gentle with Squeak. Towards the end, I felt things were moving faster than I expected, especially when the “boogeyman” was exposed, I was hoping for more of a “wow factor”. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the story, and sometimes your soulmate may be the one who takes you completely out of your comfort zone.

(I hated the nickname Squeak so I’m going to refer to her as Janelle in my review.)

This was a cute-ish book. Deacon doesn’t really woo Janelle into a relationship. It’s more like he stakes his claim of her and she “falls in line” eventually. Actually a lot of Deacon and Janelle’s relationship was him telling her what was going to happen and she’d fuss at him about it or question him then Janelle will go along with it. (He does formally ask her to be his woman though.) Despite that, Deacon and Janelle had some cute moments. We get to see them go on dates and plan their future together.

For a lot of the book, Janelle is in danger and running from someone. She keeps it a secret between her and Robyn/Tinker Belle but eventually tells her parents and Deacon. I liked that everyone in Janelle’s circle came hard behind her, especially the motorcycle club. They’d only known her for a few months but rallied behind her and Deacon.

Speaking of Baxtown Iron, Janelle got the name Squeak because she was stuttering when someone in the club asked her a question. It’s not stated that Janelle squealed or anything so the name doesn’t make sense to me but hey. That’s neither here nor there. I was just waiting for her to say “Harpo, who this woman?” 😂 It was a missed opportunity.

And Deacon’s (Prynce) name should’ve been Not Wrapped Too Tight or something. This 🥷🏾 was off his rocker, especially with anything that involved Janelle. I enjoyed it though lol.

Song lyrics from popular R&B and rap songs are throughout the book. They’re not annoyingly present, but I know some readers hate to see them. Sound effects are pretty ubiquitous throughout the book—those were annoying. References to God and the Christian faith are also mentioned heavily throughout this book. I was vibing with it, but I know some people can be put off by it so I wanted to mention it. Needless to say, for my smut girlies, this ain’t it.

And I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. (CONTAINS A SPOILER)

Too Sweet was double-dipping clubs, Sinful was fucking on Too Sweet, his cousin, and Daxx but what exactly did Bulldog do? From the conversation it seems like Bulldog is just pissed that Baxtown Iron kicked him out, but it’s never explained why he was tortured and killed. Just that his “deceit and involvement did come as a surprise”. His involvement in what? Cause I thought Too Sweet and Daxx were the only ones working together?

But if you want to talk about deceit, why the man on the cover got hair but Deacon bald headed? I felt bamboozled when I read that 😂

Squeezed in the arms of a real one....

Mrs. Baxter, I am going to have to take a nosedive into your catalog. I will be the first to say I don't usually read unhinged MMC. However, Deacon was different because the way he spoke, you knew he wasn't someone to play with. It was quite ironic that he lived two lives because of his dual careers. Now, one career surely did not trump the other. He knew how to put people in their place. He also knew the minute he laid eyes on Squeak, she would be his. He threatened and dared any of the other men about trying to romanticize her. It was not allowed. He knew she was his present and future. Squeak needed a real man in her life because her past was always lingering. Deacon was more than willing to handle that for her. He did a good deed because he solved her annoying past.

This is another hot one in this series. These ladies invested some sweat equity in these books. I have enjoyed each book I read thus far. With that being said, I highly suggest this novel to everyone. So ladies and gents, you know what to do, which is to download or purchase your book today. Deacon, don't take no mess off of anyone. Squeak squeezes herself in the arms of a real one.

Deacon was not bad at all. I appreciated the uncertainty surrounding the identity of the individual behind the boogeyman and how it ties in with Deacon’s enemies. It was a quick read, and I enjoyed it.

First, Miss Riley, you wrote some crazy wild pets (rats, alligator, etc) into the lives of Deacon and his MC brothers kept. I was dying laughing as this was just natural and ordinary for them to have.

Deacon and Squeak had an electric, explosive, and instant connection from their first meeting. I feel like their respective energies balanced each other. She was stubborn, and he was willing to let her come around, with a little push from him

Deacon was that alpha man who was confident and took charge. He knew that Squeak was gonna be his woman and wife and spoke it into existence. She knew too and felt as well. I like how she finally surrendered and took a chance on Deacon.

Though that ran into a roadblock, finding their way back to each other was sooner rather than later. Sometimes, things have to happen for you to see what you're loosing out on.

The Baxtown Iron MC had an unusual gruesome and chilling way of delivering justice to those who have messed over their family.
Deacon was definitely a protector. He would burn earth and kill many behind Squeak. Watch out enemies!

I love Ms Riley's story and always look forward to her new releases.

Janelle aka Squeak & Prynce aka Deacon vs the Boogyman and Satan's Cobras

Deacon could be a little touched sometimes but his heart was in the right place 💁🏾‍♀️

"think your anointing oil expired, Ma.”“Exp—what are you talking about, honey?” Ma asks. “I tried praying over Squeak just now, and she flipped out instead of waiting for the benediction. I used the oil you left over here.”🤣🤣

*Baxtown Iron’s
The club / his crew made him put the clubs needs over his girl and left her exposed as the result.

“One, two, Deacon came for you. Three, four, your fate is walking through the door. Five, six, Gunz add more sticks. Nine, ten, this bitch nigga will never breathe again,”.

If nothing else, he was determined to right his wrongs, get and keep his girl!

❤️“Why are you staring at me like this, Deacon?” Squeak asks. “Along with categorizing every spot, mole, and every feature on your pretty face, I’m trying to patiently wait for you to reach me so I can fucc you back to sleep,” I say huskily.

Definitely Not Your Church Deacon

This book had me conflicted because I liked it and these characters, but something still seemed off to me. There were several grammatical things, but that wasn't it. It was almost like a drawn-out novella. Some things happened quickly, like how bodily fluids and "I love you's" were exchanged, but then it dragged when it came time for karma to do her thing. In between all of that, there was on-page internal dialog that was completely hilarious and had me laughing out loud. But then there was also lots of prayer and ... chiiiile, I don't even know what to call what Deacon was doing- dark confession, maybe? Overall, the storyline kept me reading, but the mixture of fast then slow and a lot of talk about God while plotting multiple unalivings didn't feel balanced and I think that is what kinda threw me off. I did really like Deacon as a character, though, and Squeak was cool, too. The storyline plot and execution was just OK to me though.

Deacon (BLP Motorcycle Club Book 9)

Deacon is my guy. He is professional by day and a heathen by night. The guys in the club are his brothers and he doesn't play about any of them. Needing a new secretary for the club, Tinker Belle aka Robynn invites her bestie Janelle to the club meeting. She basically tells her she is going and that she is accepting the position. Walking in, Deacon loses all train of thought. He knows instantly that she is his person.

But danger lurks around the corner, and there are spies in the mist. Now the brotherhood had to find out who's gunning for them. Also Janelle aka Squeak has a situation as well. Receiving a gift from her tormentor sends her to the ER. Deacon vows to find the person or persons to end them.

I really enjoyed this book. Riley always gives the feels and her characters are always so well rounded. Ribax is the place to be. Makes me want to move there with all the fine men in that city...lol.

This book was fire!! 🔥🔥🔥

Deacon and Janelle, aka Squeak's story, had me going through a wide range of emotions right from the very beginning. When I say this book had my shook, enraged, giddy, and on the edge of my wheelchair all at the same time?

Riley Baxter never fails to deliver a book that will have the reader glued to their devices engaged in the story until the very end. Deacon and Squeak went through some ish in this book! But through it all, one thing was constant, Deacon's feelings for Squeak. That man wasn't playing when it came to her. And with all the twists, turns, and betrayals, I wasn't sure if this couple would make it. But you know love is a big motivator and will not be overshadowed by hate, jealousy, or just plain stupidity. I loved reading Deacon and Janelle getting their HEA. This is a book that should not be missed.

Riley Baxter is becoming one of my favorite authors to read. I started reading her books last year and I read a new one every couple of months. I had been looking for something to catch my attention and keep it and Deacon was exactly what I needed!

Deacon was on Squeak from the moment he saw her! He had some learning to do in the relationship area, but overall he was a "quick-study" and knew what he had to do to make things right! I loved his protective nature and no nonsense attitude! Squeak was a damsel in distress, and it got on my nerves at times! Like you are content with running, at some point we have to fight back!

Deacon is Book 9 in the BLP Motorcycle Club but I read it as a standalone! I read this as the first book in the series. And although there are many characters mentioned I don't feel like I missed anything by not reading them in order.

Deacon and Squeak!!

This book was sooooo good that I couldn't put it down. Deacon and Squeak journey to love was paved with danger, rivalry and betrayal. Deacon knew that Squeak was it for him when he first spotted her at the club house. I loved the way Deacon wasn't playing when he came to his Squeak, and he was going to protect her by any means necessary. She did get on my nerves when she didn't let Deacon know about the long-term danger/harassment that she was going through. The relationship between Squeak and Tinker Belle is the kind of bestie relationship we all need. Tinker Belle had Squeak's back in every aspect. There was treachery all around the MC that they never suspected which made the book that much more engrossing. Fantastic job Ms. Baxter!!

Nice very nice

This standalone is so lit. My girl was going through a lot of stuff, from seeing her cousin getting killed in front of her. He could have let her be she didn't say anything and didn't even know who he was. I was wondering if that security guard knew who she was for them to invite her to their shindig. I'm glad they took out every body that had to go. U did good on the first book that I read of urs and I'm looking forward to reading more of them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and while eating popcorn while waiting on the next book to read.

Enjoyed it

This book was very entertaining but kind of macabre for me. Sqeak meets Deacon when she returns home for safety reasons. She is being stalked by her cousin’s killer and has been for years. For the life of me, I could not understand how she has kept this a secret for so long. Deacon is a protector and he takes his duty to protect his woman seriously. He made it his business to make the people who out fear in his woman pay for their sins.

This was a good book but I am just not a fan of the motorcycle club books.

Squeak witnessed her cousin's murder. She left town to get away because she didn't let her family know that she saw the killer. She eventually comes back home and ends up an unwilling member of a MC with her bestie. The MC is where she meets Deacon and he applied pressure on sight. She tried to ignore him but he wasn't having it. The story has twists that I didn't see coming.

BLP Motorcycle Club is collab of multiple authors. You do not need to read the books in order because the stories are not connected.

Good book.

Janelle knew she should have not been trying to shoulder all that on her own. I loved her friend because she knew her and kept trying to speak common sense into her.

Prynce... Yes, please, fifty times over. I loved him and their entire crew, really. He stood on business and admitted openly his mess ups. He was determined to keep her safe and turn her mother. He avenged the past for that family and the present. Smart and semi-religious.

Awesome Read

Janelle allowed someone to frighten her through notes for years. Moving back home was supposed to be her solution to her problem. Tinker Belle convinced her to join the Baxtown Iron MC so that they would protect her. Deacon was in love at first sight. Squeak gave him attitude in the beginning, but eventually she was okay. The way he loved her was beautiful. He was a protector. He manifested their future and nothing would stand in the way. Awesome read!

Big D Energy!!

Deacon stands ten toes down on Squeak the moment he saw her!! And Deacon is the devil she needs to get rid of her personal boogeyman!! I loved how no matter how much Squeak tried to fight her feelings for Deacon, she knew he is what she needed and eventually submitted. My favorite is when the moms come together and baptize Deacon in the dunk tank, I fell out laughing!! Five stars Ms. Baxter🥰

I DNFd around 45% of the book. over all it was a frustrating read due to the language used. People don’t talk like this and it’s really hard to fit some of the shit and the way it’s being said in normal conversations because it’s not natural. I tried another book by this author last year and had the same issue but everything’s not for everyone. Also I thought we left “orbs” in 2023 but I suppose not 😭

Great read

It's crazy how the boogie man wanted to keep control over Squeak after years of keeping his secrets. It all came.down to wanting power, there were snakes within Deacons crew but once they were discovered the way the handle them all while protecting the love of his life. Enjoyed the way they came together as a.family accepting Squeak despite her not wanting g to have anything to do with them; a.must read

Ok Read

This was an ok book. I didn't really feel the love energy between Deacon and Squeak, especially Squeak. The story line was a little too vague. She couldn't even identify the Boogeyman. So he shouldn't have been terrorizing her like he was. Why did he kill her cousin? I love this author and have read a lot of her books that I have given 5 stars to. So I was disappointed that this wasn't one but it did have potential.

DEACONNNNNN!!!! I loved his unhinged self! A man who knows what he wants and goes for it is the best! My only beef is the cover doesn’t match the description of Deacon LOL of D is bald why did the cover art have a man with hair. Other than that I loved this book! It was full of laughs, the intrusive thoughts made each moment even better. Definitely plan to read more books by Riley

Deacon

I have yet to read a Riley Baxter story I didn’t enjoy and this one was no exception. I loved the way Deacon was with Squeak and that he knew at first sight she was his one. It took a while for her to catch up because of past trauma causing her to pass unfair and unfounded judgement about him, but when she caught up, she was all in.

This was another great book in the BLP Motorcycle Club series, I have not been disappointed yet. Deacon is unhinged and hoodmatic ( hood and romantic). His instant attraction to Squeak was cute as hell and I am so glad that she got out her way. And allowed him to love her and protect her like a man of his stature can do.

She has done it AGAIN!!

This book is NOTHING short of amazing! Deacon is the perfect man. He can wear a suite in the boardroom, put on that leather jacket and hop on his iron, protect you from danger and pray over you all in the same DAY!!
He became Squeaks protector and prayer warrior the moment he saw her! There was no doubt that God made her just for him!

Deacon and Squeaks needed each other

My favorite one of the series so far. Deacon was a certifiable crash out. I for a man who can spot his wife in a crowded room and just know in a few words spoken that he was going to love her. Truly loved Deacon and Squeaks building love. Great book

Deacon 🔥🔥🥴

Omg.
I really loved this storyline. Lol. The humor was great. It was just enough to keep the storyline moving, while giving context to each individual character. I love how Deacon saw Squeak & instantly knew it was love. We love an unhinged MMC. Great job as usually, R.B.

Ok

It took me a minute to finish reading this story because I had to stop a lot. The sound affects words and the lyrics of a song. Then the time lines.....two hours later..... 45 minutes later. It was working my nerves because it reminded me of reading comics books. Other than that it was a nice read.

Who knew religion and motorcycles go together?

This was an interesting read. A little lust, trauma, drama and religion. I liked it all! I am interested in knowing more about the Braxton Iron MC. Deacon is a little unhinged & it's a good thing. I'd like to know more and the officers & their pets!
