The Price of Deception: The Legacy Series, Book 2

Rate this book
Five years after releasing the love of his life to another man, the Duke of Surrey struggles with deep remorse about his past decisions. Chained in a loveless marriage of convenience and strangled by duty, he wallows in regret and drink.

Everything in his life changes, when on holiday in Paris, he meets a young boy and his former rival. Suddenly, he finds himself thrown into a whirlwind of deceit and lies as he searches for the meaning of truth and love. Just like innocence, deception carries a price.

Book Two of the Legacy Series weaves a tangled web of deceit and dire consequences, which in the end rearranges everyone's life on a path of either good or evil.

Amazing. Better then the first. I was consumed by the story in the first chapter and I'm left on pins and needls waiting for the final book. If you liked the first book you will love this one.

I liked the first book well enough but this one... the two main charecters come off as incredibly selfish and faithless. I get that they're in love starting an affair with your ex when you know it will lead to repercussions that will affect your daughter is just incomprehensible to me. This was the 19th century stigma of having divorced parents would affect the children their entire lives.
One more thing was Philip's sudden "craziness" it seemed to come out of nowhere and conveniently right after his wife started cheating so it would seem like he deserved it.Even the Duchess was done dirty in an effort to make those two horrible people look good. At some point I stopped feeling anything for Suzette who never went through any sort growth. She made really horrible choices in this one. Considering the fact that I loved her in the 1st book, it was disappointing to find myself actively rooting against her.

I loved this book! I can't wait to read the next one in this series!

I am eagerly anticipating the 3rd book in this series. I am happy and pleasantly surprised the this story has continued to capture my attention and interest as well as keeping me busy during this terrible pandemic of Covid19.

The main couple could not be more selfish if they tried. They destroyed everyone by their selfish choices. And I didn't even believe in their love.

This is no more of a mystery than the first book. It starts out a bit of a bore as the author re-introduces the material from the first book in the series but picks up pace as it goes along. The suspense also picks up as the characters try to struggle out of the web of deceit they have already woven but finds themselves further ensnared.
I am loathe to reveal the plot of this story as I fear it might spoil the first book for aspiring readers.
The first book in the Legacy series is The Price Of Innocence. This is the second one and I read it in one day! The third, The Price Of Love is not yet out and I end this review feeling frustrated that I cannot get to the next one right away.

This book was a bit of a guilty pleasure for me - they're not the type of books I'd usually read, but I found myself unable to keep away from purchasing and reading this immediately after finishing The Price of Innocence. The characters are rather compelling, as is their plight, and this book has left me hungry for the third installment to see how it all ends!
