The audiobook 1842 is a fictional story about love, baseball, and God. It is set in Oklahoma, which is in a region known as the "Bible Belt" of the United States of America. The two main characters of the story, Bobby and Shawn, are among the very best baseball players in the country. Even so, each of them has personal traumas and troubling experiences that make life very complicated.

Being a great athlete does not always mean having it all together. For Shawn, he has to gather up all of his strength to power through loss and unmet natural needs. Bobby, on the other hand, must navigate through the struggles of being extremely passionate and unaware of how to appropriately apply boundaries. On top of these things, both young men must battle against the negative and toxic values that are promoted in world culture. Also intertwined are other characters who have their own personal struggles, making them affect the story in their own distinct ways. Together, though, all characters represent the human experience.

This urban work is filled with interesting moments and subtle creativity, culminating into a piece that is both nostalgic and current. Certain points of the book will undoubtedly make you laugh. And at other times, they will pull on your heartstrings, and maybe even make you shed a couple tears. Without question, though, 1842 is worth the listen, and maybe even multiple playthroughs.

Koby L. Bowie pours his heart out into his debut novel. His goal in creating it is to help people know that life is worth living, assist people in addressing their traumas and past failures, as well as to inspire young people to make healthy choices. Baseball is the muse and spark for the story, but Koby's personal life experiences are the actual substance, as he drew from his past circumstances and put a brilliant creative twist on them.

I am very new to the book world, as I have never been a book reader. What's crazy is, the more I write, the better the reader I become. With that in mind, I may just have to do a little more exploring into some of the great novels out there. For the past two years, I have primarily read through textbooks for my school classes. Well, I guess those types of books are the main ones I have read my entire life. Thus, I do not have a favorite genre of fiction. If I were to pick, it would most likely be something along the lines of romance. Or maybe sci-fi, because I love superhero stories. The former is definitely in my writing tool belt, as romance is the secondary genre of my debut book 1842. For the latter, I think I have to really do a deep dive into my inner geek and lock in on creating some type of fictional superhero universe. Perhaps, that could happen one day. But for now, my stories are closer to the areas of sports, romance, young adult, and health education. I am a follower of Jesus, so spirituality will always find its way in somehow. I respect the art of writing, though. Without it, we have no stories to entertain us. Just as much so, we have no blueprint on how to live our own lives. And so with all of that in mind, I am just here to contribute to the world in the most excellent way I know how. I hope all of you will check out all of my current content, as well as stay tuned for my next novels to come. Blessings - Koby L. Bowie

Earlier this summer, my daughter and I were in Edmond, OK for a softball tournament. Between games we went to Target and were looking at the book section. A young man approached us and asked us what kind of books we liked to read. We talked to him for a few minutes and he told us he had just wrote his first book. He told us a little about the book and then we went our separate ways. When we got back home I ordered the book from Amazon since it wasn’t available in any stores.

While reading, I felt like the book was full of unnecessary information and could have been a lot shorter. But after finishing the book much of it made sense. It was a great story about two boys from Oklahoma who loved baseball. However, it was very long and sometimes difficult to read.

I think it's a great story. A perfect piece for readers in their mid-to-late teens, as well as young adults. Imagery and metaphor are two of the devices used throughout the story, culminating into a very vivid read. I hope you guys can join me in leaving a review! I just thought it would be cool to give myself my first one on goodreads. Nonetheless.. happy reading, yall
