Kennedi Westbrook has defied the odds. Statistically, she was destined to fail. However, she proved the statistics wrong by becoming a sought-after psychiatrist and the owner of Healthy Minds, a counseling and psychiatric practice in downtown Atlanta. To many, she embodies the ideal woman, but this perception overlooks her most significant affliction—her mental illness.
Kennedi’s husband, Mitchell, is wealthy, business savvy, well-groomed, and confident. However, he grapples with major issues. Although he could not desire a better family and lifestyle, his perception has clouded his judgment, prompting him to question if he still has it. Far removed from the dating game, Mitchell makes an impulsive decision to flirt with danger, jeopardizing his most valued possession—his family.

The way I’m running to get book 2 caused me to cramp my finger! This story was a lot dealing with real life issues and how selfishness, greed, revenge, anger, hurt and lies changed multiple lives forever. This story pulled at my heart and had my emotions going crazy with all the drama, suspense and messy mess happening. It also hits some important life situations that was nicely depicted making you understand why people wild tf out. These characters are 6 degrees of chaotic seperation and babaaaaay it’s East Point meet’s Alpharetta and it’s all about to come to a head.
Lakaii wrote this story with her whole chest. I felt the passion, emotion and desperation from the characters and she did an awesome job keeping the story alive and interesting…It’s a page turner.
The narration by IIkane was insane. Her ability to transition from female to male with character, personality, feelings and passion is astounding.
Get this book and I promise you’ll want to get book 2…
This book was so damn good and crazy and unhinged first of all Tia messy ass friend ever she need her ass beat to a pulp She need to be dropped as anybody’s friend , now I felt sorry for Kennedi, she went through a lot as a chow. Her mother was very abusive, would hit on her kick at her hit her with sticks and stanchion cords so she was traumatized as a kid, and her husband may have been her loving husband, trying to make sure everything went right for her, but he was making things worse, but not telling her and the baby mother that he was married and he had another girl pregnant so I hear the next book is about Kayla and her husband ERIC, this book was so juicy with drama is definitely a must read got to read a five star for me. I’m about to move on to book 2 of the series. Just caught this book. It is worth the read.
Well got dame 🚨🚨 this is definitely a spoiler alert 🚨🚨

From start to finish, this story was headed for a five car pileup on a busy interstate…during peak rush hour traffic! This was a NTMA rec that provided nonstop entertainment while reading. And like any bad wreck, it was hard to look away from! I’ll be moving on to book two because how could I not??? I’d give this one 3.5 stars and depending on how all the loose ends are tied up, book two has the potential to be a banger for real!
I think everyone in this book suffer from not being able to grow up and move pass their past or move into adulthood. Communication is important and they don’t know how to communicate at all. Friends become foes but it’s only because they don’t know how to communicate what their friendship require.
Poor Kennedi!!!! Dang that girl just was getting dumped on left and right and her husband wasn’t sh$t. Why do people do the than that they do? Like seriously? They have no regard for consequences. Tia needed her tail whooped like yesterday. I listened to this and the narrator was FIRE!!!! Sydney was a world class idiot. Idk WTH she could have possibly been expecting. Just mess!
My heart goes out to Kennedi of course. Holding on to sanity I the midst of the betrayal she will soon learn of had me on edge. I just want to fast forward to healing😩 Great read and my 1st time with this author!
This is a roller coaster of emotions. Sydney is naive, Tia is spiteful, poor Kayla just wants to be a good friend, and Kennedi PTSD N heartbreak what more can she take…
If you love urban fiction, you’ll love this book! I love how the author introduced and developed each character allowing the reader to draw a connection, good or bad, to each one. Each page left you wanting more and more. So many emotions involved in this reading. Certainly everyone has at least one connection with a character. I literally connected with all and had sympathy and some empathy with literally each character! I loved how the author embraced mental illness as apart of the storyline because it’s such a stigma, especially in the African American community. CANNOT wait for the next book! I need to know what happened next!
