La realidad es que nuestro mundo es un torbellino de cosas, y que no podremos salvarlo mientras los sistemas capitalistas actuales sigan vigentes. No lo salvará hacer cambios en los hábitos de consumo. Mientras sigamos manteniendo esta lógica y contribuyendo a una cultura aspiracional y de deseo consumista, y mientras nuestras vidas se sigan centrando en perfeccionar el arte de comprar, de arreglarnos o de perpetuar cierto estilo de vida —en el proyecto de vivir en un hogar perfecto, compuesto de muebles y acabados aparentemente sostenibles, y de reunir un guardarropa perfecto con prendas presuntamente éticas—, estaremos ayudando a mantener con vida esos sistemas antiguos. Si en verdad quisiéramos hacer cambios enfocados hacia una realidad mejor y colectiva, sería necesario escapar del consumismo, salir de la pantalla, y también empezar a considerar los objetos y experiencias más allá de lo que denoten en términos sociales
