From the USA Today best-selling author of Stockings, Snow, and Mistletoe comes a new Christmas romance with loads of chemistry and small-town charm and will leave you smiling.
Noelle Allred used to love Christmas, but not anymore. Not since her gran-gran passed away a year ago. She’s completely skipping Christmas this year.
Jack Meadows has always skipped Christmas. But his sister is a single mom going through cancer treatments this Christmas, and she wants Jack to make the season magical for her son.
Jack can’t stand Christmas, but he’d do anything for his nephew. So he seeks help from Noelle, his employee and the woman he’s secretly been in love with for a year and a half. Spending time with her is risky, but it’ll be fine because he’d never let his feelings about her be known. He’s her boss, so a relationship is entirely off the table.
No matter how desperate for help her good-looking but very Grinch-like boss seems, Christmas is too much for Noelle.
But everything changes when a mysterious package shows up on Noelle’s doorstep with a postmark of North Pole, Alaska, that is somehow from her gran-gran, and she agrees to help Jack.
As Noelle and Jack show his nephew all the Christmas magic a tight-knit community provides, along with the magic of Noelle’s large, loving, and very enthusiastic Christmas-celebrating family, sparks fly and they can’t deny their attraction for each other. Can they overcome the seemingly insurmountable obstacle standing in the way of their relationship?
Grab a mug of your favorite hot chocolate, curl up by the fire, and be transported to a place where the romance is sweet, the love story is full of humor and heart, and the magic of Christmas feels like a blanket-wrapped hug.
Meg Easton is the USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romances and romantic comedies with fun, memorable, swoon-worthy characters, and settings you’ll want to pack up and move to. She lives at the foot of a mountain with her name on it (or at least one letter of her name) in Utah. She loves gardening, bike riding, baking, swimming before the sun rises, and spending time with her husband and three kids.
Rating this in the mid 3 stars. This was a what I think a Hallmark movie might be like, since I’ve never watched one I can only guess, but it seemed like that kind of situation. It was a sweet, well-paced read with some melancholy moments, lots of Christmas cheer, family time, and a third act break up that made sense. Everything about this book was well scripted and commonplace. Can you read between the lines here? I’m tired of using the words unoriginal and banal for Christmas books this year, so I won’t. And honestly, it wasn’t quite that. Many people will enjoy this book. I thought it was ok. Both characters were reasonable and mature, the set ups made sense and their reasons and decisions were always sound. There were cute kids, gingerbread trains and dogs in costumes. There was no sex or heat whatsoever. You could read this with your grandmother and she would probably love it. Couple of pieces of constructive criticism though: it was very slow moving for a book that was under 200 pages, and the sentence structures were often clunky when the author was trying to convey large pieces of information; notably at the beginning of chapters and after transitions. I’d recommend she write in active language and show instead of tell. Much of the info the author wanted us to know, we would have learned anyway as the story played out. It didn’t need to be fed to us with a spoon. Trust your readers to understand nuance and try to be more subtle in setting up scenes. That’s all. Number 4 in my game of ‘read Christmas books with vintage red trucks on the cover’ and as usual no red trucks or trucks of any kind made an appearance in the text. There is a sequel to this that also has a red truck on the cover, but I think I’m going to skip it.
I love Christmas books this time of year and this one by Meg Easton was pure magic! Everything I want in a Christmas book. One of my favorites for the season. It was such a cute, quick read with a lot of heart. I was swept up in the story from the very first page!
I loved the traditions that were part of Noelle’s family. So much so that I told my husband I wanted to make the Santa Hat tradition part of our family’s traditions when my girls are grown and have families. There were so many fun and unique activities that I wanted to jump into the story myself. Noelle was so kindhearted and it was sad how she missed her gran-gran so much. Her gran was the center of all that was Christmas for her. One year after her grandma's passing she decides she wants nothing to do with the holidays, until a mysterious package shows up from her grandma reminding her that she should still do all the things they loved to do together. It also helped that Jack needed someone to show his nephew, Aidan the magic of Christmas now that his mother is sick and unable to do so herself. Jack, not having any experience with what a Christmas should be like, hires Noelle for the job. Noelle is also an employee at Jack’s agency.
Jack has a lot of hurt to work through himself, but having to come along to all of these fun Christmas outings with Noelle and his nephew starts to warm him up to the season and of course Noelle. His professionalism slowly slides out the window, but he tells himself they cannot be together because he is her boss. Ohh this story had all the charms of a Hallmark movie only better and I love me some Hallmark movies! Jack and Noelle were so sweet together. All the caring looks, the little hand brushes, and their amazing first kiss!
Trust me if you love sweet Christmas romances with lots of fun family traditions you will want to read this one. I am so glad I have the paperback on my shelf because I will be rereading it and would give it a 10 star if I could! Now I am so excited to start The Christmas Bet tonight!
Can I just tell you how much I adored this book???? So stinking cute! Noelle and Jack were just charming together. I like Hallmark movies but they can get a little redundant. This book was so much better than sitting and watching a Hallmark movie!!!
The fun Christmas activities that are traditions in Noelle's family had me wishing I was right there participating along with them all. Jack took some time to warm up to it all. But I loved when he finally let himself relax and enjoy being surrounded by Noelle's family and having fun with Noelle and his nephew. These two characters have some healing to do in regards to Christmas. They both wanted to avoid the activities and in their minds, they have some good reasons for it. But there's nothing like healing and being able to move forward when you have the love and support of family and friends. And that's just what happens for Noelle and Jack. *grinning*
It made me start thinking about what traditions I have around this time of year and hoping I can be a light to those around me and help them feel the spirit of Christmas and joy in their lives. But I especially hope that my family feels that!
There are a few complications. The biggest of which is that Jack is Noelle's boss. And in his eyes, it just won't work for him to be around her more and more because he needs to keep professional boundaries in place. Yet, Noelle has a way of touching hearts with her bigger than life personality that's full of joy and sweetness. Jack might just be in trouble!!! Hee Hee! Oh it's so cute. Seriously read it!!! This might be my favorite of Meg Easton's books so far (and that's saying something because I adore her books)!
Content: Clean. A couple kisses but nothing further. A character has cancer and that is discussed some but not in great detail.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Un lindo romance navideño. Sin drama, sin spicy. Noelle y Jack trabajan juntos.
A wonderful, warm Christmas Story for your heart. A woman grieving the loss of her grandmother. A man having no idea even how to do Christmas. A seriously ill mother with a five-year-old son who needs some Christmas cheer in his life. Those are the characters you’ll meet and be touched by in this sweet Christmas story. Noelle lost her grandmother that she did everything Christmassy with, two years ago, just before Christmas. This year the loss feels more intense so she decides to skip Christmas this year, of course it would be easier if her car wasn’t in the shop waiting for her to get money to repair it and she didn’t need to ride the bus to work through all the Christmas decorations. Jack has no real memories of a merry Christmas. His parents’ home wasn’t usually a happy place. His older sister Rachel did the best she could to help him while they were growing up and after their parents’ death, became his guardian at eighteen. Now Rachel is fighting Leukemia but her son, Aiden, needs a merry Christmas that she can’t provide in her exhausted state. When she approaches Jack, asking that he give Aiden that Christmas he agrees in spite of his lack of experience. In desperation for help he approaches Noelle, an employee in his ad agency, to help with pay of course. And so it begins, as two caring adults try to provide something special to one little boy as they work through their own hurts and problems. A wonderfully touching story that will make you want a special Christmas of your own. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
Noelle and Jack are such great characters and I love the way they come together in their boycott against Christmas to deliver a Christmas to remember to Jack's nephew. Noelle's traditions are so special and I enjoyed experiencing them along with her and Jack.
There's nothing more magical that Christmas through a child's eyes--except maybe a little romance thrown in. This Hallmark-type story delivered a sweet and tender tale with all the
Meg Easton’s story of evolution from boss to romantic interest will make readers hope that somehow Noelle and Jack will find a way to love not only Christmas, but each other.
I’m loving the Christmas books right now! This one by Meg Easton was so great! This author always does a great job with her characters, plots and settings. That makes it very hard to put her books down and do something else.
Noelle. I loved her character. It made me a little sad just how much she missed her Gran-gran. That’s what made the Christmas season hard for her. Christmas was something she had shared so much with Gran-gran. The two of them were the very best of friends. This is the first Christmas that Noelle will be navigating it without her. So when her boss, Jack, has a special paid project he needs done, Noelle is in. She volunteers without even knowing what she’s volunteering for.
Jack needs someone to help him give his adorable nephew, Aiden, the best Christmas ever. Only he doesn’t know how. That’s why he was happy Noelle was willing to help. It was fun to watch the two of them trying to get through a Christmas that they both knew was going to be hard, for whatever reason. I loved the way they helped each other out. And the way they were together, so great!
This book has such a great plot. I didn’t want to stop reading for anything. You need to grab this one, you’ll love it!
I was sent an e-copy of The Christmas Pact as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.
This was just the cutest!! I loved seeing both of them hate and love Christmas throughout this story. It was just really good and I love the ending. I thought it was going to end a certain way (I predicted it almost from the beginning), but she flipped on me and ended it differently, but still perfect!
Cover? Adorable. Setting? A Hallmark dreamland. Overall story? Like a melting snowman.
This book was quite adorable, don’t get me wrong, but at some points it felt a bit repetitive. Yes, I get that she has a crush on her boss, and yes, I understand that he doesn’t want to date an employee. But come on…
Nevertheless, this was a fast paced read. All of the characters were relatable, the Grinch references were on par, and the Christmas spirit was with you until the end!
This was such a sweet story with all the Hallmark Christmas vibes, but better. Meg Easton captures the small town feel and wraps it up with loving characters and so much heart. I really enjoyed this sweet story and both characters were so endearing. I read this in KU and definitely recommend it. A clean romance.
Very sweet Christmas romance story. Lots of festive scenes, lots of family, and a bit of romance. It had a very Hallmark feel to it. Perfect for this time of year.
Two people who want to avoid Christmas are drawn together to make Christmas special for a 5-year-old boy. With family ready to enthusiastically join in, this may be the merriest Christmas ever, especially if the two adults let the Christmas magic give them the love they have kept quiet about all this time.
Noelle Allred, whose big family loves Christmas and boisterously celebrates each year, is now ready to give it up. Her gran-gran passed away this past year and Christmas lost its joy for her. Her boss, Jack Meadows, never celebrates Christmas. But his sister is undergoing cancer treatments and asked him to step in and make her 5-year-old son’s Christmas wonderful, so he cannot refuse. He turns to Noelle to help him with this. She is not only his employee, but he has loved her secretly for the past year and a half. But being an honorable man, nothing can happen between them because he is her boss.
Noelle doesn’t think she can help her boss with this task. It’s just too painful now, until a package with a North Pole, Alaska, postmark is delivered from her gran-gran! She knows what she has to do now. With Noelle and Jack creating a magical Christmas for Aiden, with the added love from Noelle’s large, loving, enthusiastic family, Noelle and Jack feel the magic of the Season and can no longer doubt their feelings for each other. Will Noelle’s plan to allow them to be together convince Jack they can start their relationship? Or will he take more convincing?
This was what a Christmas romance should be. It had great, romantic tropes. There were great holiday tropes. It was entertaining. It was fun. It was emotional. There was great, romantic tension. The angst was there. It was sweet. The romance factor was supreme. Christmas really was a big factor in Jack and Noelle falling in love. I adored it.
Review:
Going into this story, I thought this was going to be a typical Hallmark Christmas romance, and it did have elements from those movies to this book, but in fact it was so much more. There was just a lot emotion that was explored on varying different levels. It got very deep and raw. I even feared some of things that was happening that could have very turned the story in a total different direction especially with Jack’s sister. But then there were these beautiful and pure moments that celebrated love and hope during the Christmas season that I just thought was absolutely wonderful. Watching Jack and Noelle fall in love while they were participating in these Christmas events was just so special and romantic. It really brought out the romance side of story and Christmas was a part of that. I thought that was great.

This story is about as awesome a Christmas story as there is! Usually there is one character that is over the top Christmasy and one who is somewhat of a "Scrooge" or doesn't really get into the holiday season but in this story the two main characters BOTH don't want to celebrate the season so that right there makes it unique! Noelle has always been over-the-top into Christmas because of her grandma but since she died, she just can't do it anymore! When her boss, Jack, asks for someone at work to help him with a non-work-related project for extra cash (which she needs!), she agrees to help! She just doesn't know it's related to helping a child enjoy Christmas, until she finds out what those reasons are AND a Christmas miracle happens. Jack, because of his past, doesn't like Christmas so he has to hire someone to help his nephew enjoy the season. He doesn't know it'll help him even more! I couldn't believe all that Noelle's family did to celebrate! Prepared to be amazed by them! Also, prepared for your heartstrings to be pulled by Jack's sister who is fighting a life-threatening disease! It all adds up to a touching, wonderful story that will put you in the mood for Christmas!
Noelle and Jack are running from Christmas but for different reasons. His childhood was full of unpleasant memories of the holidays and Noelle is from a family who are masters of celebrating the holiday and bringing in their family--except her gran-gran is gone, and Noelle just can't face it.
Enter Jack's nephew. His mother is fighting cancer, and she wants desperately for her son to experience Christmas as she and her brother never did. On chemo, she can't, so she asks Jack to take her son around. How can Jack refuse? Thinking to hand off responsibility, he offers members of his staff an opportunity to earn time and a half by taking his nephew around. Well, Noelle needs the money, so she agrees--but on one condition. Jack has to attend at least half of the activities.
So begins a slow softening of two hurting hearts and an admission of feelings both have been keeping hidden.
This story is so full of the feels and a swoonworthy romance as well. Definitely a holiday favorite!
Noelle used to love Christmas but last year her grandmother died and now she hates it! Jack has always hated Christmas a is basically like the Grinch! But his sister is sick and doing cancer treatments and she wants her son to have a great Christmas. He doesn’t know how so he asks his employer Noelle to help. He’s secretly in love with her and hopes she’ll say yes. He says he’ll pay her for a project and she needs the money and finally agrees after she received a mystery package from her grandmother! They along with her large family set out to have the best Christmas that the little boy will ever have. But is Jacks small heart growing like Grinches on Christmas? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Oh this was such a cute holiday read! I've read many books with one character not being into Christmas while the other is... but I loved that neither Noelle or Jack was looking forward to the holidays in this one... but came together to give Jack's nephew a memorable Christmas. These two had a really fantastic chemistry that I absolutely adored and I couldn't get enough of them. It was a sweet and tender romance... and one that you'll definitely want to add to your holiday TBR.
