Many good points in this book on general spiritual discernment, especially in the first 1/2 of the book. The gift of discerning of spirits, mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12, was not really addressed. It was more about how all believers can detect what is of God and what is not, avoiding compromise, and keeping our eyes and ears pure.

There were a few times I felt Mrs. Kunneman got into personal opinions, rather than set-in-concrete biblical standards, and a few examples she mentioned as indicators of people's bad attitudes seemed to me to be assumptions. We all make the mistake at times of judging what is going on in someone's heart based on their body language -- and we could be wrong.

On the whole, though, I felt the book was solid and helpful.

A Timely Reminder

This book calls the modern church back to the standards of the Kingdom of God. I know many will thinks it's archaic, but it's the truth spoken with with love. I appreciate it's systematic approach.

2.5 stars [Christian Praxis]
Writing: 2 stars; Truth: 2.5 stars; Use: 2.5 stars.
Good points--some discernment and moderation; some of Ch. 9 on Media.
Bad points--some superficial biblical exegesis, sometimes generic, an overuse of adjectives and adverbs, and appears to abjure all fantasy and science fiction literature in Ch. 9.

Not worth the read if you have the spiritual gift of discernment; perhaps of some use to someone interested in the topic.
