A short quick read. I thought this was volume one or a one shot when I saw it at the library. It was like watching a Godzilla movie on UHF TV after school or on Summer Vacation when I was a kid. The story made some sense but not that much sense. But if I watched/read from the start it probably makes more sense - you know like when you go back and watch an uncut version of the old Godzilla Monster Movies on TCM or other full restored channels. I was entertained.

This series continues to be OK. The art is more cartoony than I like. The story is fine. But it never rises to the levels it could. It feels like a Saturday morning cartoon from the mid 80s, more than a good Godzilla story.

After a four-year time jump, we find some changes in this installment. Monster Island is up and running, there have been some personnel changes and a mad scientist has come to the foreground. It all adds up to an enjoyable little romp and allows the human characters to become more prominent. Still plenty of monster fights though. This volume features both an army of Mecha-Godzilla and a cyborg Ghidorah (aka Monster Zero.)

Though a quick read the story was good but the artwork suffers. Not in its quality - it has been consistent throughout - but in its presentation. I found some of the fight scenes confusing and was unsure which monster was throwing the punches and at whom. The sci-fi element is not strong either despite the presence of Aliens wanting to conquer the world. I still enjoyed the book but it does need some cleaning up in the artwork and more tension between the monsters. they really need a better reason to fight than the fact that they are both there. But this series is a winner and I've yet to come across a weak volume full of filler and side plots and that is a huge compliment to any creative team in the world of Graphic Novels.

With Godzilla gone, you'd think something interesting would happen with the story, but instead, time jumps 4 years and he is back! Meanwhile, the Cryog leader has disguised himself and mass produced some Mechagodzilla robots, selling them as protection to governments around the world (not sure what the Cryog's plan is exactly). He has teamed up with Minette and Mallory, the psychic twins from the Kingdom of Monsters series. I thought the writers didn't quite know how to make them an important part of that series' finale, so let's hope they get to be a larger part of this story this time. I was concerned Jet Jaguar was being overused and he doesn't feature here which is a good thing, but I'm not sure what direction the story is going in here; when there's a new plan and it is quickly foiled.

All knots tied up

Th is was an absolute blast to read, especially being a big fan of Godzilla. I liked seeing Kristi, Mallory and Minnet. The reason I put this at a 4 star rating was because Mallory and Minnet died, if I am correct. This also has given me an idea about Godzilla catacalysm, which is really cool and shows what happened in the titans apocalypse. I saw how double M's (Mallory and Minnet) died, and it is similar how it provoked the titans. Yes, this tied up many loose ends, but caused another: is this the cause of the apocalypse? Please check his out I loved this and I hope you do too.

Review is for all six volumes in the series

Every ten pages they throw another kaiju at us, never giving any time for development - and yes I know how ridiculous it is to expect 'character development' among giant punchy bitey monsters - which leaves the entire story without depth or suspense.

Kind of cool that they brought back the evil twins from the previous series but just like the original series they felt underwhelming as they really did not do much despite the build up they had.
